This is more of a setup issue it appears. Mar-vell goes back to Avengers tower to get help and Tony hooks him up with an apartment. Mar-vell is obsessed over some painting. Ms. Marvel shows up and seeing their interaction together was the best part of the book. It was nice seeing Marvel give an inference to Annihilation by saying there was a bubble around Kree space where messages weren't getting through. A villain that died a Stamford returns and two agent type men say they have to change their plans. At the end of the issue Kree soldiers show up. I'm gonna assume that the agents and the Kree at the end are in actuality Skrulls. There are also more investigations into the Mar-vell church. The art continues to be great and this issue felt like it was building up into larger things in the future.

Well, what do you guys think?
I like it! I like how they mentioned some events from Annihilation Conquest.
I like where the comic is going with all the mystery.

not many people bought this eh?
I am excited how tightly it will be integrated into Secret Invasion.
What do you guys think of the end with the Kree invaders?
Where did they come from?

I love this book! It's too bad it couldn't become an ongoing cause Reed totally writes a convincing Cap'n Marvel! I loved the moments between Carol and Marv when they were flying and fighting Cobalt Man! Tenderoni moments!

Cobalt Man.
Ok.
No Namorita, no Night Thrasher. Instead we get the glorius return of Cobalt Man.
(sigh)
Remind me to care.

I'm loving this mini, even though I've never anything with Captain Marvel before. The art is excellent and he's a really an enjoyable character to me now, and his team-up with Ms Marvel was cute.
Interesting how Secret Invasion seems to be all over the place here. I'm intrigued, can't wait for next issue.

Cobalt Man.
It's kinda funny, because he'd been dead before Civil War. Iron Man impersonated him, and when Moonstone did a quick background check, she all but verified that Cobalt Man had died.

Yeah, I'm gonna call Skrull on Cobalt Man and the Kree at the end, as well as the two guys in business suits after Cobalt Man dropped. Even Ms. Marvel was commenting that he's supposed to be dead, and that his weapons were odd (she should have been able to absorb them but couldn't). When even the characters are calling foul on it, I'm pretty sure it's not really him.

I was kinda disipointed that Carol did'nt share with Mar-vel the things that had happened with her since they last met.Maybe next issue...

I'd rather they brought back Microbe. We barely had a chance to know the guy, and his powers were something new and different.

It was an alright issue...normally I hate set-up/expository issues, so I'm glad something actually happened at the end. Just hope it continues and becomes more interesting, next issue...rather than just a slug-fest.
I wonder what the fascination is with the painting...

Loved this issue, this book is really exceeding my expectations so I'm glad I bought it. I enjoyed the Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel reunion and the various sub-plots with the church of Hala, the painting he keeps looking at, and the resurrected villains. Lee Weeks art just keeps getting better with every issue too, amazingly clean, elegant and suits the story perfectly with Jason Kieth's colors. Looking VERY much forward to the rest of this mini and skrull reveals.

Yeah, I've been thoroughly impressed by the way Reed has linked all these little things together and turned Captain Marvel into a real superhero mystery story that also celebrates the history of the character.
I'm also loving how steeped the book is in the whole Skrull mess. It's had more skrully action then NA has had recently!

Given the fact that this issue takes place after at least the beginning of Annihilation Conquest, they can't really be Kree unless the phalanx has come to earth! So Skrulls seem likely. Also issues 4 & 5 are Secret invasion tieins so they are definitely showing up soon.

Yeah that and the mentions of Annihilation Conquest has me impressed at how continuity conscious Brian Reed is.

While I do love the art of this mini I am not getting much out of the story. I am pretty new to comics so maybe I would get some more out of it if I knew more back stories but who knows? I find the story moving pretty slow considering its only slated for 5 issues. Can anyone fill me in on Ms. Marvel realtionship with Mar-vel also what happen in Annahilation?

he specifically said a villain from Stamford, what were you expecting.
i liked this issue. Although the Kree are a joke for thinking a few troops are going to stop Captain Marvel and Iron Man.

this cobalt man thing could tie into secret invasion with shield saying villains in thed raft had died and then cobalt man turns up with speedfreak coldheart and nitro and we have civil war there is also a possibility a new warrior was a skrull

Yeah, Night Thrasher could have been a Skrull in the New Warriors reboot.
