I just recently re-read the whole run, and it blows me away every time.
Emotional and strong, the development of characters never stops, even though there are times where I really wonder if we weren't there -before- of if things didnt take a bit too much of a skip from reality for the sake of an interesting story. One of the many break downs of Katchoo and Francine, where they are -done for- yet again, or during the middle, where the whole "Possible future" thing happens, yet, even during the worst issues, this book was better than 95% of anything else on the shelves.

I dont think there are 4 comicbooks out there which made me cry, but some scenes (especially close to the end of the run) certainly made me feel like.

I really miss this book...

If only the development of the story had never stopped.

I really, really loved this book when it started. It's just a shame Moore kept it going after he (freely admitted he) had no idea where the story was going.

I have to say, the meandering of the plot line kind of turned me off, too. I still absolutely LOVE those first 60 or so, though.

Personally, I always thought how Brad Silver was painted as the "Bad-guy" was very weak and a copout to get Francine and Katchoo together in the end.

Even while married, we saw more interaction and scenes with francine thinking about Katchoo than with her husband.

Yet it is presented as him being unfaithful when I don't think Francine had EVER been committed tot he marriage.

Agreed, but I think that Brad's cheating was the catalyst Francine needed to end that relationship. She seems to be the type of person to put aside her own feelings to keep others happy. Francine is depicted that way throughout the series with occasional outbursts when she couldn't deal with it any more and a gradual progression toward doing what she wanted.

I love Strangers in Paradise. While the story did meander on occasion, it doesn't bother me overall, because it's always been primarily a character piece.
