I loved the first two System Shocks and was wondering if they ever releashed any more in the series?

Was also a big Legacy of Kain series fan I was also wondering if they plan on coming out with anymore of those titles?

They should. After that ending in Defiance, I'm hoping for an awsome finale.

There's a blurb in either GamePro or EGM about the L.O.K. series that says the series in all likelihood is done for. One of the main people on the series moved to Naughty Dog and the sales of the series weren't that great to begin with.

Legacy of Kain is, by all accounts and purposes, done.

As stated above, one of the people who was pretty much behind the whole thing since Soul Reaver (Amy Hennig) left the series for Naughty Dog. Then after that, several other key people left Crystal Dynamics for other pastures.

What remained of the Legacy of Kain development team was shuttled into other groups and became the dev. team for the CD-made Tomb Raider games ('Legend', 'Anniversary' and the soon-to-be 'Underworld'). At least, I think the remains of the LOK team went on to Tomb Raider...

So if you want a LOK-esque fix, 'Tomb Raider Legend' and 'Anniversary' run on an enhanced version of the Defiance engine. And quite frankly, I'd trust the current Tomb Raider dev. team to make a new Kain game: they've proven themselves to be very competent and devoted too. Plus there's several nods to LOK in both CD TR games, 'Legend' especially: you get the Soul Reaver as an unlockable weapon.

And let's face it: the abrupt cliffhanger ending of the first 'Soul Reaver' pretty much left a sour, sour, sour taste in people's mouths which may have been rank enough to turn them off of the series for good. Not that I blame them: I sure as heck didn't want to upgrade to a new console just to see the 'conclusion'.

... And Blood Omen 2 pretty much sucked.

Check out Bioshock. It's the spiritual successor to System Shock.

Since Bioshock was done pretty well I remember hearing talks that System Shock may very well get a new, offical sequel, but I've not heard anything solid about it, but the possiblity is there.

.

On the other hand.
Everyone involved with Fallout has been gone for years, and we are still getting Fallout 3.
So, someone could always pick up the license and run with it.

I'd rather not, thanks. LoK had a bunch of truly devoted people behind it and I'd rather not have completely different hands make a new game that could be less like 'Defiance' and more like 'Blood Omen 2'.

I'd be happy if the Tomb Raider development team (which has the remains of the LOK team) made a new Kain game, but otherwise I'd just let sleeping dogs lie.

Or if worse comes to worse, they could always continue the series as a comic book.

I was playing that game up until a few weeks ago. Haven't finished it yet, but I will. It's the best in the series so far.

I tend to agree with this, but not totally. The game's not totally bad, but it's one of those games that once you've finished it, you have no reason to go back to them.

Before Bioshock came out EA renewed the trademark on System Shock and supposedly put the developers from the Godfather on it. That was well over a year ago, so who knows if anything comes of the project.

No, I agree.

I actually thought that Blood Omen 2 wasn't a bad game... in theory.

The story and cast had potential -and I wished Umah had been developed further as a character-, but between plot holes (such as Vorador suddenly coming back to life after BO1), retcon after retcon -anyone notice how no one or nothing from BO2 is referenced at all in SR2 and Defiance?- and choppy game mechanics... it's just not the best LOK game in the series.

Although FWIW, "Defiance" originally planned to explain more about Umah and the ressurection of Vorador, which may have helped soften BO2's inconsistencies somewhat:

Hopefully Bioshocks success will set a fire under EA to make the game, but I'd rather have the developers from Bioshock work on it, though with a Bioshock sequel apparently coming up that's probably an unrealistic hope.

Of course. BO2 just isn't the best LoK game. And thanx for the links.

And yeah, I felt that there was some underdevelopment with the cast and story in this game.

Irrational(The System Shock/Bioshock guys) was bought by Take 2, so it's closer to an impossibility.

I didn't know that, well that kind of kills my hopes for a good revival of the series. I guess only time will tell if this even gets made or is any good
