C'mon, it wasn't bad at all. .

the stuff w/ Trickster and Piper was very enjoyable, and I loved seeing Piper actually make use of his skills to help him out.

and the Granny/Female Furies scenes? LOVED em -- especially Bernadeth vs Jimmy Olsen

(even if the return of Hippolyta is a head-scratcher. . didn't the Amazons all disappear again at the end of Amazons Attack?

granted the Jimmy Olson/Forager stuff was cringe-worthy. . . . but WAY more good than bad this issue.

I wonder why that Scarecrow backup was there tho? The Art was wonderfully, Kelly Jones can do no wrong on a Bat Villain in my book. . . but Scarecrow wasn't even in the issue.

so what'd everyone think?

This week's countdown and its tie ins didn't work for me. Perhaps next week's will.

Actually Hippolyta was the only Amazon not to disappear at the end of Amazons Attack. It was her punishment, that she be left alone on Themyscira. Except she's not quite alone, but whatever.

The only interesting part of this book for me has beeen Piper and Trickster... with Trickster dead there's little reason for me to do anything than skim through the issue at the comic shop and then NOT buy it. lol

Are you talking about Gail Simone's Wonder Woman or Judd Winick's Green Arrow/Black Canary? I'd forgive the former in lieu of a great story, but the latter sucks balls.

There's no thread because if we close our eyes and pretend real hard then Countdown won't exist and comics can be good again.

Weird, it's almost enough to make you think the series blows.

Maybe Countdown is an anomaly of Hypertime and will go away! Please.

The former. Although I actually thought the first two issues of the latter were pretty good, though not so much with the third. And you can hardly blame Winick for the faux Amazons, given that the Countdown story with them started well before Green Arrow/Black Canary and they're tied into all the New Gods business.

I can and will blame Winick for everything under the sun!

well, at least we have final crisis to look forward too. lets hope they don't do a third weekly series.

I don't think there's a writer out there who hasn't written crap in one way shape or form...

at least we know with Johns that he can deliver...at times

Piper and Trickster are making this book right now. I liked Piper using his flute-type thing to lure a burro and start a fire, but I'm iffy about him being able to use it to stop the countdown on their handcuffs. However I'm liking their story enough to overlook that.

and the Granny/Female Furies scenes? LOVED em -- especially Bernadeth vs Jimmy Olsen

Bernadeth's my kind of girl. ;) And I hope the whole New Female Furies story is resolved in Countdown or Final Crisis. I'm not getting most of their tie-ins. That's another good storyline.

(even if the return of Hippolyta is a head-scratcher. . didn't the Amazons all disappear again at the end of Amazons Attack?

I just glad they named her. I was like, wait a minute that looks like Wonder Woman. What's she doing in a cave?

granted the Jimmy Olson/Forager stuff was cringe-worthy. . . . but WAY more good than bad this issue.

Yeah, the whole Forager/Jimmy thing is kind of eww. I mean, I dig hot, alien babes as much as the next guy, but she's not hot.

I wonder why that Scarecrow backup was there tho? The Art was wonderfully, Kelly Jones can do no wrong on a Bat Villain in my book. . . but Scarecrow wasn't even in the issue.

Yeah, that's happened a mess of times. But seeing Kelley Jones draw Scarecrow was still cool.

Whenever I give up on Johns, he comes out with something fantastic. But whenever I start believing in him, he comes out with something either horrible or incredibly dull.

I almost wish that he'd just stick with being bad so that I could at least know to ignore him.

His Avengers was bad... at times very bad. He's come a long way.
