I've been thinking alot about the PSP lately. Now, I use to have a Nintendo DS and loved that, but then got rid of it (not sure why now. lol).

And now I'm thinking about getting a PSP. Why? Because there are some really cool games on that system like Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, Diseaga, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Ratchet & Clank, etc. Plus the system does look pretty cool.

I have no money whatsoever right now. So I'm not going to be able to get one till next year sometime at the LEAST, but I wanted to know what you guys thought. I trust you guys. lol.

So should I get a PSP? And other then the games I mentioned, what else is there on the system?

I did and I haven't regretted it. I bought it mainly for Dracula X Chronicles but I also picked up Disgaea PSP and War of the Lions.

After playing on the DS non-stop for a year I was very impressed by the quality of graphics and sound. It really does seem like a mini-PS2. The other features -- mp3 player, UMD player, movie player, internet -- are nice, but not what sell the PSP. Ultimately, it comes down to the games.

In addition to Disgaea and War of the Lions, Jeanne D'Arc is another strategy game that's supposed to be very good. So there are currently three very good strategy games for PSP.

It would probably be a good idea to have a look at the PSP reviews on metacritic and see just how many of the games there appeal to you.

The PSP, like the DS, is region-free, so you can easily import for it.

My PSP has brought me great joy. I had mine for a year and I already own 12 games for it.

I am sad now, I miss my PSP.

It was stolen from my friends apartment fairly recently along with my Marvel Trading Card Game UMD.

Go and buy one NOW

it was one of the best things that ever happened to me.

The only reason I'd get one - well, let's just say it wouldn't be PSP games I'd use it to play.

Mine was one of the biggest wastes of money I've ever had. I haven't even turned my on in over six months now. I think what I hate most is how clunky it is to hold and how annoying it is to try and use that stupid little thumb stick.

If you like handhelds, I'd go for it, but always look at some game options first. You may find not too much you like. Or, you could save money for a console, instead and make the better choice.;)

I bought mine this summer and haven't regretted it since. If you like MGS then you should like the two Syphon Filter games. As for strategy, FFT and Jeanne D Arc are winners also. Then you also have GTA:Vice City Stories, Daxter, Ratchet and Clank to name a few. So while the number of quality games doesn't match the DS, there are enough to keep you happy.

PSP is good. For my taste anyway, it has some decend games.

There's Monster Hunter which is also for PS2, then part 2 came out, Coded Arms but I really hate playing FPS on handhelds, and some Genesis packs.

Silent Hill:Origins was pretty good too. Plus, you can use the PSP to listen to music or rip and convert your DVD collection to watch while on trips.

There's also the upcoming God of War game. And Crisis Core, if it delivers more than AC-styled cutscenes.

I absolutely love Jeanne D'Arc, but it should be pointed out that it's not nearly as complex/deep as War of the Lions. Granted these are the only two RPGs I've ever played, but assuming that WotL is what a standard game would be like in the genre, I'd say Jeanne D'Arc is more a beginner's games.

A nifty little feature that Sony just added with the latest firmare update is the ability to listen to internet radio. Currently there are only two players, one that hooks up to ShoutCast and one for something called icecast. I've been testing it out over the past weekend, and it's pretty slick.

Also, War of the Lions is amazing. I never got around to beating Tactics when it was on PS because I leveled Ramza up too much over my supporting characters and ended up getting slaughtered later on. But I'm well into Chapter 4 now, working on a bunch of the sidequests to recruit more characters. And I will make someone into a Dark Knight, dammit.
