My girlfriend participates in the Big Sister program. She recently found out that her "little sister" is also a big anime/manga fan, so she wants to get her a neat present. Unfortunately, she has to work late tonight and is meeting with the girl one last time before Christmas tomorrow, so I will need to pick out the gift, and I have limited knowledge of anime and mange.
Some guidelines:
1. Gift should be about $10, give or take a couple of bucks.
2. The recipient is a 12-year-old girl.
3. There is a comic book shop on my way home from work that has a large selection of anime and manga.
4. The recipient has some artistic ability, and likes to draw her own manga characters.
5. The girl has a collection of anima and manga, but we don't know what it includes, except that she likes stories where the main character is a girl with magic powers.
So I'm thinking that whatever I get should be pretty new, and that probably excludes anime. Would I be able to pick up one of those manga books for $10?
Another possibility that I'm considering is this non-collectible card game that has anime-style artwork:

Or maybe I should just pick up some art materials?
