Of course! That's it! They are all skrulls! The Earth we've been following for the last five years is actually a Skrull training world, where Skrulls are pretending to be humans to train for infiltration. That explains House of M and Civil War and...

Ok... it doesn't work.

You'll notice that's Ape Beast and 1st Appearance (Whisker Mask) Wolverine. Oh and Luke Cage w/ Tiara. That's an older costume for Thor as well. So I doubt that means they're Skrulls.

The invasion could have been years in the planning. It could explain Wolverine losing his adamantium and then producing bone claws and later devolving into a beast-like form(sounds like a Skrull like ability). Cap and Dr. Strange could have initiated CW, with Cap sacrificing himself to discredit Tony Stark. It would not surprise me in the least if Marvel did this. It harkens back to the Clone saga (and yes I know that sucked).

No. Just no. That doesn't work, because that would mean swapping Skrulls in and out.

Which would be much more noticible than straight replacements. Given the nature of things.

Plus there was no Skrull plot behind Civil War. We've been told that several times.
