This storyline is unreadable. I dropped it from my pull list after a couple of issues but may put it back on when the new creative team takes over.

it amused me greatly when Whedon took this book on, and people were saying well at least there won't be delays now that he's not working with Cassady... :D Ryan's speed of delivery has always been a bit slow. When he was doing Cable he would only ever manage three issues in a row before they'd be an issue with a fill in artist. And several years later it was exactly the same case on New Excalibur. Three issues on, one issue off.
The delays were blatant for many to see from the start.

Its mainly just a coincidence that titles Whedon works on get big delays. But its not always (possibly, often) his fault. Besides his work is worth waiting for. I'd consider him being the best writer at marvel this year.

You should read Runaways to catch up. :p
Seriously, though, it does a pretty good job standing on its own legs independent (mostly) of the rest of the MU.

Pick up the very first digest to see if you like it, then progress through them all till you get to the 7th (Whedon's unfinished arc will be the 8th). Don't worry about the Civil War arc unless you're really into them since it doesn't do much to the main storyline, it's still enjoyable though.
If you enjoy Runaways enough then it might be worth your while to check out Young Avengers, Loners or the stuff with the new Scorpion.

Whedon is ruining Runaways, imo. His arc is dreadful. It's so convoluted and pointless. The delays have made waiting for the new team painful. Can't wait until Moore and Ramos start up so we can get normalcy to the series and a normal release schedule.

Honestly I would not normaly tell a person this, but spring for the Runaways oversized hardcover volume 1. It collects the entire first series (18 issues) plus some other extras. It is one of the best things Marvel has put out in years, and is well worth having. I usally think an oversized hardcover collection is a waste of money for most book unless they are really something great, and Runaways is one fo those books. I don't think I have heard one person who has read this collection say anything bad about it, and you just don't see that with many books these days.
If you like that then check out volumes 2 and 3.

When the heck are we gonna get back to a monthly schedule? Alphona managed 18 issues with just one fill in for 2 issues and then 24 issues with another 2 issue fill in and one 3 issue fill in. That's immense.
And now Whedon/Ryan have shot it all to pieces and the story aint even that hot. Absolutely disgraceful.
BKV said it was their best shot at surviving for the long term in the MU...to pass the torch...but it's looking like a really bad decision right now.

I dont think it is that bad, I just think we have high expectations of the book due to Vaughns amazing writing. I dont think its as good as when BKV and Alphona were on the book, but its still a pretty good read.
But I agree, the delays are making it worse. As with Astonishing, i keep losing interest becauseeach issue takes way too long to come out.

So what's with this book and its delays? I swear, I'm this close to dropping it completely. I'd be a bit more agitated about it, but I keep forgetting that the series is even still ongoing b/c of all the delays.
I'm a Whedon fan, but he was boring me to tears with the time-travel arc, so I dumped it a couple months back.
How late has hit been?

I loved VKB and Alphona's run so much, and as much as I mostly like Whedon, I'm really not digging his arc, and the massive delays are not helping.
The whole Kingpin/Punisher/time travel thing was so unnecessarily convulted, and I really hate the new characters he is using. I'm also not happy that they just ignored the ending from Vaughan's run. Just a mention on the Runaways Saga that they escaped Iron Man off panel? Please, they were surrounded, exhausted and even comment that running away was not an option... Nico and Victor's relationship has been largely ignnored as well...
Damn, I miss Vaughan so much. I just want Whedon tobe over already and let Moore and Ramos take over so hopefully the book will be good again.

I'm just hoping they get the Runaways back into their own little corner of the Marvel U w/o all the mainstream guest stars. I mean, guest appearances by C-listers are fun, but once you start adding headliners like the Avengers or including the group into big events like in Civil War, then the book starts losing its charm.

I agree with the aggravation expressed in this thread--if not for the sheer quality of the former creative team (the wonderful BKV + Alphona) the delays surely have you sorely missing them...

I'm not sure it's all Whedon's fault. Buffy launched about the same time Runaways did (wasn't it even the same week?), and he finished his run on that book without delays.
Maybe he's slow, but Dark Horse made sure more issues were in the can before soliciting. Or maybe there's some other Marvel editorial thing - remember, at one point they pulled Cassaday away from Astonishing so he could do an issue of Fallen Son.

You've got to be kidding me. Ugh, what is Marvel doing w/ this series? If they're going to delay the releases this long, they might as well make the series finite and have some sort of "definite" ending planned. No point in making this an ongoing if you can't do it consistently.

I just received a shipment notice email from scifigenre and thought to myself, "there should be a new Runaways by now...". After checking the shipment details and noticing no issue I searched these forums to see if anyone knew of delays.
Count me in among the readers who find lack of a consistent release schedule for Runaways bothersome. I had the same issue as a former poster who said he couldn't remember what was going on when reading the last issue (I originally wrote "latest issue" but thought "last issue" more appropriate).
I think it's the artist. stop ragging Whedon so hard, fam.

Pity Whedon is killing the book with the massive delays and mediocre story... someone said it's actually Ryan's fault, and if it is then it's worse. He's no Hitch, McNiven or Cassaday, so if the delays are because of the art, it's really not worthy.

Chase looks too muscular/buff, Karolina looks too short (while Nico too tall), Molly looks even younger than she was before (if that's possible), and overall it's just really different. No, it's a cover to her story in Mystic Arcana, which was sort of the Annihilation of the magic world of Marvel. Of course, the rest of Marvel ignored it and it's done sod all. You'd think Doctor Strange would make a few references to the whole stability of magic changing, but apparently not.

There are levels, Alphona had perfect look for the characters. Not too cartooney even if it was cartooney.
Ramos makes them look as someone said WB saturday morning cartoon...

I'm a big Ramos fan, but the art I've seen for young x-men and now these runaways sketches receive mixed impressions.
I'd say Chase looks a little to muscle bound, and Nico's outfit I think should be toned down a bit. Maybes just a little less tutu looking skirt would do, and downsize some feet. Then i think he'd strike the balance between original character design, with his own personal touches, and a certain level of sensibility in the body proportions perfectly.

Is cool to know what you guys think, thank you for the comments good or bad I do honestly care about what you think and say, so a couple pointers:
Molly should be a little girl indeed, actually I think she was drawn older than she suppose to be.
About Chase, he is the strong arm to the group, maybe you are right he is too big, that might change but I don’t know.
Clothing issue, this is just a lineup, the guys will have different outfits always, so you’ll see a lot of different styles on them, but honestly i love the Abercrombie and fitch style, sorry.
OK, Karolina will be, sorry for that.
Xavin, won’t be a girl skrull, editorial make a note on that already, that one will change completely.

I too echo Jeffarei's hope that she joins up. Her name is Klara (and Molly formally invited her in during issue 28). As for the group the Runaways are currently involved with it's called The Street Arabs. The other group is the Sinners.

who are the sinners?
The Sinners are the other superpowered gang in 1907 new york. The story is playing a little bit like Yojimbo (or Dashiel Hammet's Red Harvest if you want to quote the original source) where two gangs have control over a territory and an individual comes in and upsets the balance of power. No one's playing one against the other, yet, but it's what I thought of as this story unfolded over these last three issues.
The Runaways in this case have come in and upset the balance of power and each one wants them on their team so to speak. All the kids want to do of course is get back home.

The delays the on the book made me forgot about it. That's a shame considering that Runaways is one of my top favorite books. Ryan should get his ass into gear and finish the last two issues of the run.
I like Ramos designs. Though Molly looks too much like Chip & Dale

They look great, I'm loving Ramos designs and I can't wait for his run to begin.
I suppose this will take place after the SI tie-in, as he says it's gonna start in August. With Whedon's run and this, I get the feeling Moore and Ramos might be getting a very different book than the one Vaughan left.

But apparently it won't come out until September, announced as Terry Moore's month.

I don't usually mind Ramos' art. But I really hope his Nico doesn't always look like that. And I can't help but think that Xavin, Karolina and Old Lace look horrible.
Also isn't Whedon's run supposed to conclude with a new character joining the team? Is that still happening?

His art has been good in the X-Books recently. I hope it certainly improves.

In one sketch Chase looked a bit bulky, but other than that these look fantastic. Nico looks a bit different, but not bad. She kinda looks a bit more Asian now too.
Then again, I've been a fan of Ramos from his Crimson days.

Admittely, I'm not a big fan of the Runaways but I'm gonna pickup their trade and I love the Ramos art for them, especially Nico and Molly!
