Hello people. Just been wondering what the origin of the Marvel universe is. Because there seems to be so many Marvel superheroes and stories that are based on the evolution theory or other scientific theories, like the X-Men and Fantastic 4. At the same time there are a lot of mythical and all-powerful beings in the universe, like the Watchers. So has it ever been established in the Marvel universe that who created the universe or how the universe was created? Creationism or big bang, evolution that sort of thing?

Discuss!:D

The High Evolutionary once smashed the Kansas State Board of Education. Or did I just imagine that?

Little of column A, a little of column B.

Another one of those headache-inducing (next to time-paradoxes) topics. One account has that one Dr. Strange foe (what's his name?) going way back in time to re-create the universe in his own image or something like that.

Jack 'King' Kirby created it.

I knew somebody is going to say that, or Stan Lee or whoever, good that you got it out of the way.:D

So I guess the Marvel universe is pretty much just like our own world then? Still no concrete proof as to what exactly happened in the beginning of the universe?

Either Sise-Neg or the entity that split into the Infinity Gems, depending on who you ask.

Or Reed Richards.

Of course, the current MU was created by Genis-Vell (previously, it was recreated by Thanos. So this is at least the 3rd incarnation of the MU we're on.)

[EDIT- This article (http://www.marvel.com/universe/Marvel_Universe) on Marvel.com actually does a pretty bang-up job of covering the bases. Heh- get it? Bang-Up? Big Bang? Please- just throw money.]

Gosh I don't even know why I didn't start by reading what's on Marvel.com, I've just been googling marvel related stuff. Thank you for the article, it helps a great deal. But see how it says they traveled further and further till they reached the beginning of time, so what was there? I'd believe the event was depicted in a comic book, was the beginning of time just drawn as an empty panel? Just vast nothingness?

Rabid, annoying, and misguided Phoenix fanboys will relentlessly contend that the Phoenix represents the big bang and that it is responsible for 'saving' the previous universe and creating the new. Also that the Phoenix is directly responsible for Galan's transformation into Galactus...even though the Phoenix is never shown, (or mentioned), in the different versions I've seen of the origin of Galactus, playing that role.

One of the stories that Marvel put about once was that a supreme being came into being and once bored of only itself for company created other beings for company and then created the universe for them to exist in. One of those beings created by the supreme being is Mephisto, if you hunt around for his origin story at Marvel.com it might be on there. Otherwise i would'nt know where to find the story again. Also all the Marvel cosmic heavyhitters like Eternity and the Living Tribunal refer to a being that is beyond them. So basically Marvel God created the first beings and the universe then sat back and watched.

Galactus did it.

It's a multi-purpose answer.

Actually, the Sentry created the MU. However, his powers retroactively made everyone think that Reed Richards did it instead of him, and forget his involvement. There are, however, lingering clues to his involvement; the phrase "golden god", for example.
