See, folks? This is how you subtly reflect the fact that you got the joke, as pitiful as the joke may have been to start with. in fact, this actually raises the pitiful joke to acceptable respectability.
Dread, what did I just walk into here?

About JUNO:
Maybe I just liked it so damn much because every really good movie I've seen this fall have employed huge kicks in the balls as part of the story (THE MIST, I AM LEGEND) or are just plain gloomy (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN). Then along comes this movie thats so genuinely touching (without being manipulative of sacchariny) and funny.
and now for a lucy Pinder break
How very soothing.

I had a Korean gf once. She was.... massive. We basically had to cut out quite a few activities because they got in the way. Eventually, it became a huge irritant in the relationship because she started wanting to stay home more often since she got hurt a fair bit.

Understandable, but then with quite a few sports and outdoors stuff out, I started to fatten. And then we both realised just how mature the relationship was.

It might be considered chick-flickish because of some of the emotional content, but it's more along the lines of Wes Anderson directing a John Hughes script.

Does the slap-yo-mamma pork sauce get reduced before or after adding it to the pork? (I'm guessing before, but best to make sure.)
Yep! The OJ & lime juice is boiled until it's about 2 cups. Then add a few crushed garlic and like 1/4 cup of fresh oregano.

Cut slits into the meat and rub additional garlic all over it, especially the slits. Then pour the marinade over it.

So, this past year, my mortgage was sold to another loan company. The letter I got was that nothing would change, business as usual, you know the drill....

So tell me, if the Tax folk don't get their payment on time, and send me another due notice, what are the chances of me actually collecting on a frivolous lawsuit concerning mental anguish or something like that.

No, really, I'm serious.

I would call the county or whatever and explain to them that you really don't trust your new, fly-by-night mortgage company and what are your risks and your options? If nothing else, maybe they can note the account somehow.

That won't work. CountryWide is one of the largest mortgage companies in the U.S. today, so I don't think I could get the "fly-by-night" description across. I just think it's B.S. penny-squeezing tactics. And yes, if I *do* get ANY flak from the government over this, I am going to court.

That mess consists of her birthday presents. It's all clean now.

Turned seven Saturday. I need to start thinking about saving for her Bat Mitzvah.

I'll be cliche.

It goes by so fast. It's hard to believe my "little girl" is a young woman of 15.

Today is my sister's 10th birthday. She's had her birthday neglected in the past because it's on New Year's Eve and too close to Christmas, so we're making sure she gets a big bash, a combination birthday party and New Year's Eve party for her and Will's friends.

Plus, it's free babysitting for most of the other adults in the neighborhood, so they're all for it.

Has anyone watched Mad Men? We are two epeisodes in and I am pretty intrigued. It has to be the most misogynist show on TV, there also seems to be an anti-semitic undertone, but then I think the main character just hates everyone.

I saw part of an episode. The show isn't misogynistic or anti-semitic, the characters are. The point is to show how sexist and racist big business was in the not so recent past and by doing so condemn such attitudes as they existed then and persist today.

It's like House. The character is misanthropic and a selfish egotist, but the show consistently demonstrates that these same characteristics make him a miserable person.

This is amusing: The Worst Comics Medicine of 2007 (http://politedissent.com/archives/1864). Contains yet more reasons to hate the current Spider-Man plot.

Emily loves Polite Dissent, especially for the reviews of House.

Morning, boys and girls.

Went with the kids to a Game Stop this weekend. Unfortunately for my bank account, they had "buy 2 used games, get 1 free." That equalled 4 Nintendo DS Lite games, 2 Playstation 2 games, and a PS 3 game.

DS Lite: Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass, Spiderman: Friends or Foe, The Sims: Pets, and Ice Age 2.

PS2: The Lord of the Rings: Third Age, and World Championship Poker

PS3: Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War

I went yesterday to exchange a couple of 360 games and get some XBox games I'd never played, and got caught up in the promotion. I got Morrowwind GOTY Edition, Burnout 3: Takedown, Doom 3, Ninja Gaiden: Black, Soul Caliber 2, getting SC3 and Burnout 3 free. Then there were three 360 games I'd been wanting, so I got Mass Effect, The Orange Box, and Beautiful Katamari free.

I'm pretty sure that if I don't buy another game in the coming year, I'll still have enough to last the whole year. The clerk told me not to play Morrowwind first, because if I did, I wouldn't have time for anything else for the next six or eight months, there's that much to do.

Which isn't to say that I won't buy anything new; I pre-ordered Burnout Paradise while I was there.

She seems pretty, but isn't she a little .... overlarge?

In my experience, smaller ones are much more sensitive.

Yeah, very large does little for me. Partly this is because my empathy reflex kicks in and I know that there's no way I'd ever want breasts that large, which makes any degree of attraction much more difficult.

Moderate sized and a proportionate to a woman's frame size is much more attractive to me.

And to add to what howy was saying, it's simple logic. The number of nerve endings is the same regardless of the size. Thus, smaller means that the nerve endings are more dense.

I must admit that my aversion to drinking breast milk is something of a double-standard. Let me try to put this as delicately as I can out of respect to my female readers... but some women have been known to willingly "ingest" a certain dubious "body fluid" made by men, during moments of "intimacy." (These moments are known as "blow jobs." These women are known as "awesome.")

That won't work. CountryWide is one of the largest mortgage companies in the U.S. today, so I don't think I could get the "fly-by-night" description across. I just think it's B.S. penny-squeezing tactics. And yes, if I *do* get ANY flak from the government over this, I am going to court.
You never know. Countrywide is one of the big offenders and seems to be at the top of the investigation list.

Yeah, very large does little for me. Partly this is because my empathy reflex kicks in and I know that there's no way I'd ever want breasts that large, which makes any degree of attraction much more difficult.

Moderate sized and a proportionate to a woman's frame size is much more attractive to me.

**nods**

Perky and proportionate over whoppers any day.

Plus I don't want to listen to bitching about how they make her back hurt.

I know it and believe it, I just don't want to listen to it.

The beginning and ending music changes - one or two different tracks per season. There's one that sorta reminds me of Shaft.

My favourite opener music is GO! I think it's from 3rd series or the one where Naruto and Jiraiya go looking for Tsunade... but don't quote me on that. I think the song is "Fighting Dreamers" or some such.

Time to trudge home in the middle of a severe weather alert. 10 degrees with a minus 10 windchill right now, which is really not so bad. Especially compared to what they're predicting for tomorrow (minus 30). And a coworker just called to say they'd be picking me up for the party, so that's not an issue.

Ah. That's nothing to worry about. Assuming she's not asking to go home, but very few kids are that sensitive.

When I was little, my parents managed an apartment building in exchange for rent. One of the tenants was an exotic dancer with a boa (python?) and all the kids in the neighborhood loved visiting at feeding time.

I know grease is excellent for hangovers, which makes me think I should save the taquitos (frozen) for tomorrow just in case.

The drinking will probably be medium, however.

And I get to hear about a friend's engagement. Happened over the holidays. Apparently she was actually surprised. I didn't think anyone got to be surprised any longer. They all go pick out their own rings and everything.

So if my grandmother sends me money for Christmas, and mentions that it should help with my plane ticket from Thanksgiving (which was $750 and I'm still paying for it, so yes, big help) does that mean I'm obliged to only send it to Visa for that purpose and not actually buy anything fun?

No. Since it was such an expensive plane ticket, that won't even wipe out half. But it will get it paid off about three months sooner. Which then eventually means more money for fun which otherwise would have gone to interest. And no guilt. So I guess I can just look at it as delayed gratification. Like for San Diego!
