The company I work for has been sold.
Merry Fucking Christmas.
*That's not right, but I can think straight and come up with the word I'm looking for.
Sorry Matt.
I went through that about this time in 1996 . . no fun.
The only consolation I can offer is that 1997-2000 were the highlight of my working career. I hope and pray similar things for you.

A sad day in Ironic Death news:
BELOIT, Wisconsin (AP (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/12/21/roof.ap/index.html?iref=mpstoryview)) -- Ken Hendricks, a roofing company billionaire, has died after falling through his home garage's roof, local authorities said Friday.

Meanwhile, let's have five minutes of hate for Dan Didio:
NRAMA: So why Grant and J.G. for Final Crisis?
DD: Simply put, they’re the best ones for the story. It is Grant’s story, and Grant is such an incredible talent in his storytelling, and his abilities are so unique in how he tells stories – in fact, we so want this story to achieve its full potential, and that’s one of the reasons why we’re keeping it as tight as possible. Grant has a particular style and vision that’s essential to executing this story properly.
Just get out of the way and stop claiming the ownership!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Sorry, Matt.
Merry Fucking Christmas.
I heard there is no Christmas,
In the silly Middle East..
No trees, no snow, no Santa Claus,
They have different religious beliefs...
They believe in Muhammad,
And not in our holiday...
And so every December,
I go to the Middle East and say...
Hey there Mr Muslim, Merry Fucking Christmas
Put down that book, The Koran
And hear some holiday wishes
In case you haven't noticed,
It's Jesus' Birthday
So get off your heathen Muslim ass
And fucking celebrate.
There is no holiday season in India,
I've heard..
They don't hang up their stockings,
And that is just absurd..
They've never read a Christmas story,
They don't know what Rudolph is about...
And that's why in December,
I'll go to India and shout...
Hey there Mr Hinduist, Merry Fucking Christmas
Drink eggnog, and eat some beef
and pass it to the missus
In case you haven't noticed,
It's Jesus' birthday
So get off your heathen Hindu ass,
And fucking celebrate.
Now I heard that in Japan,
Everyone just lives in sin...
They pray to several gods,
And put needles in their skin...
On December twenty-fifth,
all they do is eat a cake...
and that is why I'll go to Japan,
and walk around and say...
Hey there Mr Shintoist, Merry Fucking Christmas
God is gonna kick your ass You infidelic pagan scum.
In case you haven't noticed,
There's festive things to do
So lets all rejoice for Jesus
and Merry Fucking Christmas to you.
On Christmas Day, I travel round the world and say..
Taoists, Krishnah's, Buddhists
and all you atheists too..
Merry Fucking Christmas to you.
Thank you, Mr Hat..

oh a kick in the bum situation, so it's really not so bad. I know how you feel though - I hate job looking and I haven't been in the regular workforce for like 25 years. Am I employable... we'll find out when I hit the bricks January 2. No more happy unemployed artist. Sure was nice.

I'd forgotten Hot Fuzz. That's my vote for best of year.
And of course Grindhouse. My memory's not what it used to be. I liked it all the way through. Even the chick talk whose place was questionable.
30 Days of Night though... I dunno, maybe I just don't appreciate horror.

Since the trampoline broke a couple of months ago, we bought the replacement today. Damned thing weights 300 pounds and it took four guys to move it from the shelf to the shopping cart.
Using applied physics I got the damned thing out of the car and into the living room, next to the Christmas tree.
As for why it's under the tree two freaking days before Christmas, my wife cooked up a story between baby Jesus and a one-time-only partnership with the three Wise Men and how my kids have been extra good this year and for them to be damned sure they ain't getting a Christmas present from Baby Jesus next year.
I just know tomorrow I won't be able to close my hands with any type of strength and that's just when we're (and by that I mean me) going to assemble the trampoline.
(today at 9:00am, Sam's Club had 15 trampolines. We bought it at 8:30 pm and they were down to the last two).
The things we do for our kids.

Hot Fuzz was awesome. Even in its slower moments, it was still better than so many other movies. The chick talk wasn't nearly enough to sway me from liking Grindhouse. Even if it was that bad, the car chase scene and the aftereffects of it were enough to bring anyone back.
30 Days of Night though... I dunno, maybe I just don't appreciate horror.
I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I really liked it. It brought something back to horror movies that they haven't had in a while, a sense of dread.
I just added I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK to the list of favorite movies. It's so different than Park Chan-wook's other movies like Oldboy or Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.

and Here is my problem with Deathproof...I guess it's the definition of Grindhouse, with one really cool moment and a shitty movie built around it.
I usually like Tarantino a lot, but I couldn't wait for EVERYONE to die. especially the second group of girl powers. I knew they weren't going to bite it, but I didn't think that Stuntman Mike would go out like such a pussy...BOOO.

If you mean the credits, yeah that was pretty cool...
But The Stuntman Mike character was turned from a cool badass, into a little wuss. I was bored to tears by Planet Terror...

I've been having quite paranoiac dreams lately. One last night was about missing my cab to work, and my parents (one of whom has been dead for 12 years) having a party at my house and refusing to take me. Then I couldn't find my uniform, etc.
The one the night before was worse because it was more vague. Some people and I were in a big boarding house, but "those who had been pursuing us" had found out where we were so we had to get out. We each packed one change of clothes and a book to read (?), then I was put into a cylindrical one-man rocket ship kind of like a high tech luge and realized I had no way to open it and was hit with waves of claustrophobia.

Dithering on whether to leave the heat on. These radiators make me nervous. Not least because they're noisy and smell. And it usually doesn't get cold enough in here to need them.

Morning folks. We arrived at Sun River yesterday at 5pm after a twelve hour drive. We were doing extremely well time wise through Northern California but then as we pulled off I 5 onto an state route the thermostat in the car stuck open. Hasty repairs to get some heat into the engine (none in the passenger compartment) we headed across the high plateau in 20f temps. Then we hit snow. 150 miles from our destination road conditions went bad, we went into 4x4 mode, slowed down to 25mpg and followed the truckers. What should have taken two hours took four.
Finally arrived at the guest house, nice place. It's big and has a hot tub. Snow is everywhere and another storm is suppose to come through tomorrow. I was jazzed when I discovered the wireless. Pulled out the laptop, fired it up, blue screen of death. Fiddled about with it for an hour or so, gave it up with the idea I'd try it this morning, and can you guess? Probably! I hope the car repair goes as smoothly.

With the exception of major college football and basketball, fictional versions of amateur sports are generally more profitable than their unscripted counterparts. And, I'd guess, once you get away from Division 1 schools, that's probably true of basketball and football.

Shopping for jewelry sucks. You see something you like, and you ask to see it up close, and then you see it costs like seven hundred damn dollars. Then you have to come up with some way to say that you don't like it without looking like a hobo with no money. "OH YES, NOW THAT I SEE IT UP CLOSE IT IS QUITE GARISH. PERHAPS YOU HAVE SOMETHING IN AN ALUMINUM OR POSSIBLY COAL THAT YOU COULD SHOW ME?"

I love the way you spell Co-co-nut.
That rocks. Reminds me of Tony Millionaire.
Good to hear. Hitman is a favorite. I hear people get weepy over certain parts in there. Not me though... not me.
I haven't read Bloody Mary. Hoping for his two War Stories trades for Christmas.
Loved Hitman, Loved War Stories, Loved the first half of Preacher, Loved Rifle Brigade, but I've found that a little Garth Ennis can go a long way.
Anyone ever accidentily download some stupid phishing spyware crap software, to enable a process that you already knew how to do but thought some random freeware could do easier, and now everything is slow because the computer scan and the file transfer stuff you have to do are both running through dozens of gigabytes worth of stuff...?
And I'm hypothetically gonna punch a whole in the wall.
Gonna try and retcon the computer back into operation.
Bold move. You may end up with the head of an ant.

I am good. Gary and I just went out and cut some holly - many many berries this year - and i've strewn them about the house. Gary's having a nap with the cat and I'm contemplating having a glass of the wine we left in the freezer. It didn't explode but pushed the cork out and froze solid. Could've been worse! But now we have all this wine that must be drunk asap! What to do.

Hypothetically speaking, that is.

May I please vent/get some advice?
It's a bit convoluted, so bear with me.
My inlaws,
BB's mom and stepdad
it's a second marriage for them both,
and they both had children from the first marriages..
BB's mom had him and Lisa, and Scott has Kristen and Allyssa,
and the kids were teenagers together.
Now, Scott's mom June, who lives here is currently upset at BB's mom and Scott
because they are moving from here to Cali.
Like, 4 months ago,
BB's mom and Scott announced they would spend Christmas this year
in Cali with Lisa, Brett, and the grandkids,
since they haven't been able to in like three years.
This is not something Grandma June would want to go for,
because Brett has a large strange family.
So in the meantime,
June decided she would pay for Kristen, Allyssa
and their boyfriends
to fly in here to spend Christmas but told them
they could not tell BB's mom and Scott (or us).
We only found out because Allyssa broke down and told mom
over the phone, cause she felt horrid about it.
We've been pondering what to do
since we hadn't been informed, invited, or
stuff.
Tonight we get home,
there's a voice mail from Grandma June,
(left at a time when she knew we wouldn't be home)
telling us to show up for dinner on Tuesday.
Just that "Dinner's at two, we expect you then"
I have no clue what to do.
BB's upset, and also working until 4:30 Tuesday,
and I am very angry.
Do we dare go over
and hope it doesn't turn into a free for all
and that I don't decide to give everyone my opinion?
Or shall I beg off and play the lymphoma card,
and BB can just go down and say hi when he gets off work?
Or should I jump off the balcony?
Oh yeah, by the way,
happy holidays...

Is this an invitation to the shindig that you hadn't been invited to or informed of?
Are you being invited only because the cat's out of the bag?
Do you want to spend time with the kids?
If you want to spend time with the kids go ahead and go, but make no bones about the fact that you know about the cloak and dagger. Be polite and humorous about it and let the coot know she's an idiot - but pleasantly, if it's possible.
Or say, Thanks, but I already have plans. And invite the kids over for a separate get together.
Just because you're related to each other doesn't mean you have to like each other.

Yes, it's an invitation to Christmas dinner,

The only plan there was was early Christmas dinner
