Well as I roam this board I see a few art competitions but none about scripting... (I only went back a few pages.) So why not start one? Rules are simple. Just write a short(around 40 pages max) one shot script about the theme and whatever characters you want.
1.try to get your critisism about a entry out as nice as humanly possible(sound hard? Recent science has proven man is capable of good!)
2. Keep your stories as clean as these boards demand.
3. Make sure the theme is contained in your story.
4. No stealing(plagarising) others' works
5. meet the deadline.
6. No voting for yourself.
7. Try to keep the script manageable. We don't want to read a graphic novel... well, maybe we do.
8. Prose are acceptable
Prizes? Who said anything about prizes? Not me, that's for sure. But hey, this gives people a chance to see samples of your work and promote your stuff, does it not? If you win people may be more likely to want to collaborate. Look at all those writers looking for artists *points at "Seeking Talent" thread. What better reference is there then saying you won the Scripting contest? Other then getting your stuff published, being famous, being a legacy, rich... anyways. Entries will be accepted today until January 1.
So go out their and write your stuff. Once finished pm your stuff to me or e-mail me at iron.stark@ yahoo . com so we can keep peoples bias of posters out of the question. It may be single blind but hey, whatever. This months theme (short month, I know) is...
Betrayal! what are you waiting for? Get to scripting!...
I am in no way responsible for any mishaps you may encounter while writing this script. I am not responsible for any paper cuts, writers blocks, finger cramps or any negative happenings. If you get a boost of ego you can blame me, anything positive I may take full responsibility of. The posted script probably becomes property of CBR so you probably do not wanna post a future pitch you have been working on to send to DarkHorse or something.... and I will enter this, so if noone enters at least there will be one script to read... woo!

There's more pages of work, more information for voters to take in, and so forth. There's just more. And there are no pretty visuals.
I believe mattbib is working on a scripting/drawing thing based on feedback from the Play At Home thread for CBI. I'm not sure when it'll be up, though.

What is the theme?

...Betrayal.... A form of Betrayal must be present in the stories plot or else it violates rule #3. I guess I'll go back a few more pages and look for previous threads... well I did and did not see any previous writing competitions(only writing) so I guess this thread should be safe right?... right??
But yeah, anyone wanting to join just post here that you are or may be joining so people will anticipate your work, then email or pm me so I can post them and hide your identity till the winner is announced.

Firstly, I'm new around here, so hi! ^_^
Secondly, I wish to join.
But before I go scripting, I just wanna make sure... are you looking for a specific format? Because I tend to craft my scripts Dark Horse style.

nope. No specific formats. Scripting isn't even required. Just recommended. Prose is acceptable to. As long as you have the theme somehow worked in its most likely ok, And welcome aboard!

Ummm... I don't know if I have the time or if I'll have access to a computer when I'd be done, but I'll work on this one, and if you keep this up in the future, basically every one you do will have a higher pecentage chance of me joining in until it becomes inevitable.
good luck
and ummm... since everyone reading knows the theme is betrayel, that last panel where the guy's friend stabs him in the back is really gonna be so expected that you'll practically have people rooting for the bad guy half the story, just cause they suspense is driving them into sociopathism against fictional characters.

Thanks :D
Oh, and one more thing... by 22 pages, do you mean 22 comic or word processor pages?
_iron_man_
12-18-2007, 02:21 PM
yup. Hopefully this can be a monthly thing, but we need more people entering. If this month doesn't do good I'll try again next month and see if it picks up speed. The around 22 page limit is comic pages. But around there, so it can be anywhere from 0-30 pages really... actually since this is the first contest and not a lot of people probably will join (increases your chances), what the heck, the new limit is 40 pages... I want to set it high... but not too high

I'm in the works; however, not for sure because it may be hard to show a "betrayal," in a 22 page issue for me. I normally like doing betrayals with more time but I guess I can think of something that'll work.

recieved the story. Thanks for entering. So far we have two entries. One being mine. If everyone who is seriously thinking about entering or has already done so. I can extend the contest into January to compensate for the lack of time this contest had to get rolling. And to get more participants
_iron_man_
01-01-2008, 02:29 PM
well, seeing how there is only two entries I will extend the time I will be accepting entries, taking into account the limited time I gave people to start with and the fact that holidays may have eaten up most of their time. I will be accepting until Jan 5.

well, the time to submit entries is now. I know the original date was the 1st, but because the lack of entries I want to give some people a little more time. Since they seem like they are actually trying to get it in. This contest is just going to give me a feel of it.
