Does anyone know exactly how many armour suits Tony Stark actually has? I have read Iron Man on and off for 30 years and I still don't know the answer.

Trust me, it's difficult to find out. I've spent weeks on it and I'm sure I'm not even close to accounting for them all. In order to do so, one would most likely have to have nearly every issue that Iron Man has appeared in. It seems that slight alterations are made to suits that appear to be the same but really have pretty polar opposite purposes.

At any rate, there are some websites that may help you. Even these do not account for every armor, but they are the best resources online.

There was an old anniversary issue that showed alot of his
armor suits.

Plus he has those "Hulk Buster" suits that I've heard fail.

A "Thor Buster" suit as well? I'm not sure.

Apparenlty a lot, since Hulk destoryed a bunch of them, and the Avengers destroyed a bunch of them, and theres still more.

OK, but has he ever answered the question in an issue? Like:

Hey tony, how many suits of armour do you have?
Tony: oh, at last count there was ......

Do you mean models of armor or a literal number at any given time? I mean if you want a number just count how many showed up in something like the NA special or MA when all his armor go to kick ass.

Though I wouldn't assume all of them are usable, look how easily guys can tear through them when he remotes them/She-Ultron controls em...I know it's been speculated before that Tony keeps a lot just as mementos or test models and really usually just has one or a few workable model at a time.
