That is good. He looks so young yet so old at the same time. His features are youthful, vibrant, yet they carry such weight that you can really tell he's been through hell and back. It's...good.

Pelletier's a solid choice, if not exactly thrilling. Maleev, though . . . could be interesting. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Although Pelletier's style will likely be a bit different from what we've gotten previously (I suppose it depends on the rest of the art team), I certainly don't mind. Pelletier's a great artist. And his art lights up while in space. It happened in Exiles. It happened in FF. Now, I'm waiting to be awed once more.

He looks like Luke Skywalker; awesome. Granov will me missed though.
Peace.

i'm not thrilled, to be honest. i was weary of chen leaving, but alves has been doing good work. i'd prefer to see him stick with the title. pelletier's work doesn't do much for me. it's just okay to me. i'd also prefer granov on covers, but maleev should be okay.

Too bad. I love Paul Pelletier but stopped buying Nova. This will probably make me pick it up again. But it's definitely a step down from working on Fantastic Four. I was hoping he'd be picked up for The Mighty Avengers.

Pelletier is a decent artist; he doesn't wow me like others do and doesn't have a bold or daring style, but he's solid. I am loving Maleev on covers though.

Wait, people have dropped Nova?! My whole concept of reality has been shattered...

As I said in that Nrama thread:
Ah.
I'd have rather seen Alves continue. I don't *hate* Pelletier's work, but I don't really like it either...
And, certainly from an ongoing perpective, I think Maleev's work is too "moody" for the covers of this book.
Not enthused...

I loved his work on Exiles. Glad to see him on Nova.

Not super excited about this. Would have loved to see Alves stay on or Divito come on. But I sure it will still be a fun comic to read. DnA are doing a wonderful job and making this close to my favorite title.
On a side note why hasn't Marvel put Divito on a on-going yet. They keep giving him these limited series and with the exception of Annihilation this guy keeps getting put on stuff that doesn't utilize his talent.

Pelletier is good, Maleev is the best, so it's cool.

I'm very happy to see Pelletier onboard; he's always been a personal favourite but agree that it isn't an inspired choice and Divito would have been better. Sad to see Granov depart but Alex is alright, a suprise choice indeed. Maybe the change is part of a big hint as to what next year's stories will be about; take note of the cover and look closely
Rich's left hand side of his face is mostly in darkness but you can just make out tracery lines of the transmode infection around the bottom corner of his left eye; maybe a sign that the outcome isn't going to be as rosy for Rich as we all think. It could hint to a maybe darker sequence for Nova next year as that, from my artistic viewpoint studying classic art, is a portrait of a young man who has the weight of the universe on his shoulders contemplating his future. Either way I hope Nova's second year is as good as the first.
PP is awesome, For further proof check out this weeks Fantastic Four.
Glad that Alves is getting another gig.
Divito is now on WOlverine: First Class starting in March

Too bad. I love Paul Pelletier but stopped buying Nova.Didn't want to get involved in the crossover?
This is the only conceivable reason that comes to mind.

I haven't seen Pelletier art on Exiles or FF but the preview art provide by Newsarama looks neat. Great to see Maleev being assign a regular series. Even if he's just a cover artist.

Not meaning to start anything, but I'm just waundering, why would someone come to a thread where Nova fans are likely to be and state that getting the Nova gig is a step down from the Fantastic Four? Number wise, you are right. But as a reader of the Fantastic Four, I don't think Nova is a step down. Nova is by far my favorite title. It is very well written. Now, maybe fans of Mr. Pelltier's will give Nova a try and enjoy it. If that's the case, maybe more fans will jump on the Nova Rocket express.
I personally would have loved Alves to stay on the book. He has fantastic artistic skills. But as long as Paul keeps his lines tight and has a good inker, he'll do fine. I actually do like the detail in his pencil work on the preview pages.

Well, in terms of sales numbers it is a step down. In terms of quality, however, it is a huge improvement for PP. Nova is one of the best, if not THE best, book Marvel is publishing.
I also would have preferred to keep Alves or get DeVito but PP is ok with me.

Paul isn't exactly what I had in mind for the future of this title artistically, I expected Wellington Alves to be in it for the long haul. Ah well, Paul's a solid choice so I guess I'll be waiting to see the colors and the inks on his pencils to fully judge.
Great to see Alex on covers though, I'll miss Adi's eye popping good covers but at the same time they also had a uniformity to it that makes a lot of the covers look very similar so I think Alex will come up with some interesting layouts on the covers.

two things:
someone mentioned alves getting another gig. what is it?
is there any chance of warlock appearing in this crossover? he was last on earth in 1999, but has anyone mentioned him or what not? i want to see him again.

Both artists are amazing and I can't wait to lay my eyes on their future work. :)
It'd be funny have a dark gritty cover and yet, inside the art will be full of evergy, colorful and Pelletier-like! :D

Good news on both accounts, Meleev is one of my favorites (GAH, freaking Spider-Woman come out already!) and Pelletier is good as well.
I think Chen and Pelletier are very similiar IMHO, both good solid superhero artists, but I do believe Pelletier is a step up by a small margin.

I hope Nova saves the day again . . . he's easily becoming the big name of the cosmic universe. I'd like to see him become one of Marvel's Big 3 names. That "What If?" spread with Iron Man, Captain America, and Nova made me feel he was finally, "one of the big boys."
Richard Rider needs a movie.

It's definitely a step down for Paul. After a year on FF he should be on to bigger and better selling things. Maybe he's a huge Nova though and he really wanted the gig.

If you get paid to do something you want to do - not a step down in my book.
Plus, if Marvel wanted to bring more readers to a book they've invested in, don't you think it's a smart move to bring an artist people know and enjoy? Marvel wants more sales. If you were running Marvel, wouldn't you bring a well known artist to a comic when you wanted to improve sales. Would you bring on someone less liked to help kill a title?
Paul will do fine. He was not forced on the title, so I'm sure it's something he wanted to do. Look at his pencils and tell me if you think he looks interested - I think he is very interested in doing this title. With that in mind, I do not think it is a step down. That, however is for him to decide.
Quite often when a new series goes through artist changes, the art goes from good to horrible and the book dies. As a life long Nova fan, I am very happy Mr. Rosemann is not allowing the quality of Nova's art to suffer. If Marvel did this with many titles in the past, they would have lasted longer.
Do me a favor and just be happy for us Nova fans for a quality replacement, as opposed to lamenting an artist's decision to take on a lower profile title.

using that logic, across the industry:-
McNiven should have retired after Civil War
Mark Waid sould have retired after Kingdom Come
etc...

Agreed, kudos to Bill Roseman who is doing an excellent job in bringing top talent to Nova!

Count me as one of the Nova fans that is happy with Pelletier on the title. I'm loving Nova these days, and I never thought I'd like the book. I read Negation, and he did a stellar job on that book. Looking forward to this.
I can't believe people have dropped this book.

I will definately think about buying this book now - Paul has been a favourite of mine ever since he did the Outsiders series for DC (and as far as I can remember didn't miss an issue while he was on them).

Paul Pelletier's a great cosmic artist really (NEGATION, EXILES, FANTASTIC FOUR) and nice to see him add NOVA to that list (and hope he's here for a good long haul too).
