Hey everyone I saw something today that really made me sick. Im working with a guy who is abusing his kid physically. He asked me to stop by his house today to hang out for a bit. Ive gone over a few times an noticed some stuff. One when the wife who is another story. She has 5 other children and doesnt have custody of any and isnt even allowed near them.
So its just me and him there whenever Im there and basically the kid just wants attention, he put in his crib for hours on end and ignored. I spoke up about that several times. And the kid does scream as any would for attention and Ive always heard him yelled at but was never in the room. Well today I went in with him and not only is it yellin but hes hitting the kid too. He back-handed the kid and Im not talking lightly. I yelled and just left. I called our other co-worke who has hung out with him and he said hes been thinking about calling Dyfus or something as well. Cause when he was over the same thing happend and he was doing something to the kid like putting him some kid of a wrestling hold and hurting him and that was funny to him.
What Im getting at is if I call Dyfus (sp??) will they do something?? Cause something really needs to be done to save that kid. Anyone who can help me out with what I should do I appreciate it.

Yes, call Social Services immediately. If you can't find the number, call your local police station, explain the situation and they'll give you the number. If you need help doing any of this, PM me. I will gladly give you whatever help I can.

Please call them immediately. And let us know what happens. Hearing this really breaks my heart (I'm a father of a 5-year old girl and a 2-year old son and they are a joy in my life).

It's DFS, and this is why God created 911. Seriously. Get the cops out there while the kid's face is still flushed from the blow.

I called the police there supposed to be sending someone over there now. My neighbor is a police officer and is going to call child services with me. And the other guy already called right after I spoke to him before. This is just very sad and Im extremely angry.

It takes a lower form of life to hurt and abuse a kid. Hell I'd ask him what kinda shitty parent he is to do it.

Well it was a sad scene. I stayed in the car down the street from the house with the other guy. My neighbor went to the cops who were got there as soon as I called. Well turns out both of them have serious outstanding warrants. He is AWOL from the army and they've been searching for him for months. He also has the IRS looking for him which he came clean about. She has a warrant thats been outstanding for 2 years. And me and the other guy werent the only ones to report them. There old landlord already did. All I know now is they're at the station and the kid was taking with them but Im guessing he'll be going to some home or a relatives house until they figure this out. And as far as child services go Im going to have to report what I saw and sign some stuff. The sad thing is that the kid is going to suffer for all this.

Don't think about what the kid has suffered, think about what he would have suffered if you hadn't spoken up. Sounds like they were well on their way to seriously injuring him.
Whether that little boy ever knows it or not, you helped him today about as much as anyone ever will his whole life.

I just got a call from my neighbor. Hes staying with the brother tonight, who oddly is a police officer and didnt know he had a nephew. But her ex-husband was contacted and he said he would take him in so he can live with his other brothers and sisters. Which is great of him to do especially since its not his but I guess he knows what a monster she is and feels bad. And its really sad cause I found out that she had another kid with a third guy who was taken away due to her drug abuse, arrests and horrible living conditions. Its been a hell of a day and I cant imagine doing what these people did to their children.

Agreed whole-heartedly. I don't have any kids, but I have 2 nephews and I swear, reading about this monster (he may have two arms and legs, but he's by no means a human being) makes me sick and furious. How do you maliciously harm a child. I hope they lock those two deviants up for a long long time. Maybe that'll stop them both from reproducing...
And while I'm at it, kudos to the ex-husband, it takes a certain kind to step up and take on that responisbility.

The next obstacle is making sure the alternative is truly safer and better.

I'm going to agree with Typo whole-heartedly here. If nobody had stepped up and intervened then God alone knows what could've happened to that kid in time. This is seriously a life-changer, and there's sadly far too few who would've actually tried to help. You did mrc, and you should feel damn proud of yourself far as I'm concerned.

Thank you. But really it makes me feel good its a nice birthday gift (yes today is my bday) to have changed a life for the better. I really wouldnt have know what to do either if I hadnt come on here and made this post. I didnt know 911 would deal with that. And to be honest if they didnt have warrants who knows what the outcome would have been.

If your kid is old enough to know the difference(like 5-10) and is being a little asshole, then a spanking or cheek pap is ok. But this is a, like what, 2-4 year old?

One of the hardest things about my job is seeing this kind of stuff (I work at a court house) but you also get to see how things improve when people with kind hearts do the right thing and intervene.
This child now has a chance to grow up in a loving and nurturing environment and those so-called parents will hopefully get the book thrown at them.
Good job! If only everyone in the world would take steps like you and the others took to help this child.

I can't help but feel this kid will feel the effects of this abuse even if he gets placed in the best home in the world. He needs professional help. These are his formative years, and abuse like this is horrifically damaging to the developing mind.
Really, the more of these stories I hear, the more I feel we need licenses to breed.

Calm down. It's just bark with no bite. They can't do shit to you in court. He hit a child. Is the court really going to side with a child abuser? No.
But as far as the threats go, the cops can't react until they do something, so you have to protect yourself here. Just be aware and try to stay away from them. And if you can, try to hang with buddies in places you know the freak's going to be at.

What if they make up shit? Ive never had dealings like this before. I know he might now do anything but having OCD doesnt help the matter. Im not even going to be able to sleep tonite. I mean what if go out and im attacked or something. I mean its all unlikely but Im still nervous.

They'd be under oath. It's purgery(sp?) to lie. If they are stupid enough to do it, then you can tell the court that they are lying. Just don't lie yourself. Stay true.
OCD won't do anything to the argument. Now if you had mental problems, it would be bad.
But there's nothing they can get you for. "You are summoned for reporting child abuse". You won't need to worry.
Just stay aware, and be sure to be prepared just in case they do do something drastic. But I highly doubt it.

I'm so sorry about this, man.
Don't forget, you're not the only person who's raised the issue with the cops.

There's different mental issues involved with abusive behaviors, but there is a good chance he wouldn't go after someone who could theoretically fight back. Either way you're not the dirtbag here, and if you like, be cautious, carry a roll of quarters, but don't let idiots ruin your life. But don't worry, you're not in a position to lose money or legal standing in any way that I can see. I'm not a lawyer, but honestly, you probably won't need a lawyer.
