I am relatively late to comics but I am more knowledge than your average novice.

I am already up on Messiah Complex.

What is your weekly Marvel comics routine? What should I be reading?

Nova and Annihilation Conquest and the original Annihilation series. Also I would recommend Captain America. Ed Brubaker really does a wonderful job.

My current "routine" can be found in my signature. Those are the books I am pulling every month without fail. As for what you should be reading, well, what sorts of stories do you like? What sorts of movies and television? Is there a special interest you really relate to? Race? Gender? Orientation? Frankly, there are so many comics out there right now, you can take your pick from genres, etc.

Right now I have a simple routine:
- Green Lantern / Green Lantern Corps
- X-Men: Messiah Complex
- Fantastic Four

I can pretty much tell (I also do this with anime/manga) if I will be interested in something by how they are drawn. I have to be interested in the characters and the storyline. That's why I favor Marvel over DC...the characters are so such better in the MU than the DCU.

I'm kinda picky. But its just so many options...

However, with the Sinestro Corps War ending, I think I will be investing more time and money in exploring other comics.

I have been intrigued with Annihilation & Nova but just never picked it up because I didn't really know the characters that well. But the cover art alone is gonna make me pick it up.

Also, I always wonder if I can just pick up whatever comic I am looking at or if it will require me to buy issues before it to get into the story.

Okay, it looks as if you like the cosmic stuff pretty well. Annihilation and Nova certainly work there. You like Wolverine and Jason Aaron will be writing Wolverine soon. Hopefully he has a better artist than Wolverine has had lately but I can assure you Jason Aaron is one hell of a writer (just checked, looks like he's working with Ron Garney, so that will be a good thing). If you are enjoying the Messiah Complex stuff, I say stick with all the X-Titles after MC wraps up.

Captain Marvel is another option if you like Cosmic or space adventures. It'll be a 5 issue series. And you can usually bet on catching a Silver Surfer mini series at least once in a while. Also since you are into manga already, Marvel is working on two Manga titles which, I believe are scheduled for 2009 release. I hope that helps some!

EDIT: Oh, and since you Like Dr. Doom, he shows up in Fantastic Four pretty often and that is a team that deals with lots of otherworldly threats as well.

Hey Shypsi-Prime, I read the stuff in in my sig, but I mainly throw out Runaways, X-Factor, X-Men, and last year's Eternals mini as top-notch stuff you may want to add to your routine (or at least check out or preview.) I also plan to pick up some Young Avengers stuff soon.

For Marvel, Nova is awesome! Captain America is good. I am liking the Messiah Complex. Daredevil's ok. Nothing else for me really is standing out right now (for Marvel). Oh, I do enjoy Mighty Avengers.
