View Full Version : What would you like the Corries to be for 2007?

With 2007 coming to a close. The Corries are gearing up to get started.

I would like some input from the Community on what they would like to see for this year's nominations and categories.

Feel free to leave comments.

PS The "negative" Corries will not be an option to return.

Bring back the negative corries!

I think that keeping the negative Corries out is a good idea, but I do like the Poster and Forums Corries quite a bit.

I agree with those that say the Poster and Forum categories tend to be a bit too divisive. If they're actually brought back though it's not a big deal, I'll just not bother to vote on them.

I, personally, have never liked the comics being a part of the Corries. They're about the boards, not what we're discussing.

I like them as they are.

Not that I've ever been involved, but I have read past details.

Unfortunately (as Cei-U! pointed out last month) the Board/Poster Corries end up being divided pretty starkly based on which board had more people voting. That's been the case for the last couple years, at least.

Plus, nobody votes for me, so you know, fuck 'em.

I voted Keep them the same as last year, but I would like to see some new categories and maybe some phased out. But I do want to keep the Poster and (to a lesser degree) the Forum Corries. Divisive as they may be, I do think they are fun.

I would combine and consolidate Forums and Posters, making room to bring back some of the more whimsical Comics categories of days gone by. I've gone on about this at length elsewhere.

Well, I consider the negative Corries to be like the Ig Awards, so I want those to stick around.

Personally, I think we might want to cut back on the comics and focus more on the posters.

I guess people didn't read my opening post.

The "negative" Corries will not be coming back.

Is there a problem with the Corries?

Have they led to flamewars?

Are there simply too many?

Are not enough posters voting?

Does nobody want to moderate the Corries?

If most of these are "no's", then keep them the same

I wouldn't say problem. Just some people think there needs to be change.

Have they led to flamewars?
Yes.

Are there simply too many?
Some think there are.

Are not enough posters voting?
In some categories the turn out is very low.

Does nobody want to moderate the Corries?
What do you think I do?

Figures.

Do the forum and poster Corries really end up being divisive?

People tend to only vote for 'their' board/people, but I haven't noticed actual animosity around it.

We read it, we just disagreed with it.

We want them back.

(That's the royal 'we' in play there).

K'Nort makes me guess:

Do the forum and poster Corries really end up being divisive?

People tend to only vote for 'their' board/people, but I haven't noticed actual animosity around it.

I haven't been following that much, but it'd be my guess that with the two most populated boards having little cross-over (Comm and Rumbles) that people vote for boards/people they know. Given that it would be divisive. Probably not intentionally, but that's the way it works out.

The forum Corries are ridiculously pointless, and the poster Corries only slightly less so. Maybe keep a few, but I wouldn't shed a tear if they all disappeared.

Though I have often shed tears over the amazing lack of taste the comics Corries sometimes demonstrate . . .

It's kind disheartening people still just want to bad mouth each other here.

You would say that.

Typical.

The Comm Board tends to dominate the Corries. The CBR forum has become so big it's segregated into subforums (it's hard to keep up with more than one forum), so a Corrie award is kind of antiquated.

It would be nice if each sub forum could have their own version of the awards.

Just make it about comics instead of about navel gazing.

It would be nice if each sub forum could have their own version of the awards.

Then the winners from each sub-forum could go head-to-head in a Rumbles-style match-up for the overall championship.

No, wait...

Is there a problem with the Corries?
I wouldn't say problem. Just some people think there needs to be change.

Is this "some" a large group of posters, most moderators, a little of each, or just people who influence the fate of these boards?

Have they led to flamewars?
Yes.

That's one question I probably shouldn't have had to ask, but one of the main reasons CBR got rid of the negative Corries, right? But which Corrie categories have led to the most flamewars? I would guess Forums (sort-of agreeing with Joe Rice)

Are there simply too many?
Some think there are.

See first re-question and comment below

That's not an answer ;)

Maybe CBR could trim out a few Corries this year as an experiment. I would leave out the low-vote-recieving ones (Like "best score for a comics-related movie") and the ones that are major flame-bait (like "Which poster doesn't suck as much as everyone thinks they do") Or we could have some forum-specific sub-Corries and have a big grand Corries for the entire site. (Kinda like how they have the technical Emmy's a different night and place)

What the heck are Corries?

Awards for posters voted by posters or something?

The Corries are CBR's annual awards of comics, posters and forum features.

well...

to be honoust...I had to look up what the Corries meant :)

but I am a sucker for polls like this!!

I will however only vote in the COMIC-poll since I have no real clue about the other fora. At this moment I am only active in the INDY-forum (Hack/Slash-topic)...that is why.
