Whohoa! This is from dccomics.com? Label it PG13 baby! They're really pushing her body poses and angle shots until they get X-rated!

Does she even wear actual clothing anymore? I remember in No Mans Land I think she walked around pretty much naked except for leaves and the such

Not so much.
But I'm not complaining.

Well, I actually like the aspect of the character (I mean it is oddly arousing to see a green skinned chick walk around buff and such) but it makes sense for her to be that way with her total love of nature and connection with the Earth to be natural or it does to me anyway. Of course, it is just a ploy to get more people to buy into it but hey it makes sense, too:)

Ivy's choice of clothing, or lack thereof, doesnt bother me in the least bit. If anything, the only thing I would probably change about her is her green skin. Personally, I like the Alex Ross notion better, and that being an Ivy with pale skin. Which works just as good, if not better than green skin. Especially in contrast with her red hair. However, that's just nitpicking on my part. But hey, if Ivy wants to convey even further she's "one with nature", then she's got our blessing I'm sure. :D

As for the origin, this is from wikipedia:
PreCrisis
Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley is seduced by Marc LeGrande into assisting him with the theft of an Egyptian artifact containing ancient herbs. Fearing she would implicate him in the theft, he attempts to poison her with the herbs, which are deadly and untraceable. She survives this murder attempt and discovers she had acquired an immunity to all natural toxins and diseases.
PostCrisis
Pamela Isley grows up wealthy with emotionally distant parents. She later studies advanced botanical biochemistry at university with Alec Holland under Dr. Jason Woodrue. Isley is easily seduced by her professor. Woodrue injects Isley with poisons and toxins as an experiment, causing her transformation.
There is that also DC's HOT one page explanation.
And as for the sex factor, lets analyze things:
She is wearing no clothes, thus naked. Although we can't see anything cause of the leaves. She used to wear tights and leaves (as we can see in the lower left picture), but nakedness sells more. Through the years, she was wearing less and less herbs on herself, until she reached the point of micro-herb-gstrings. And she was given the fame-fatale role, always kissing, talking dirty, touching everyone etc. She is an exibicionst, face it, the chick walks naked all the time! Not to mention the subconcies insinuation that she is a nympho due to number of men AND women she has tried and succeeded to seduce in the most erotic fashion! She likes to control (wo)men? Then that makes her a dominatrix too.
Now as for that official DC's origin one-pager. For starters, she is in lying position. A naked exibicionist girl in a lying position. No, wait! Let me rephrase it: she is a naked exibicionist girl in a lying position with her legs half opened! She's moving her hair backwards to let us see her face, is drawn looking AT the reader, with her lips opened, with her mouth cavity painted pink to indicate the tongue, and not painted black like as usually. And for finale: there is that obvious insinuation with the branch between her toes. Besides the potential foot-fetish, she looks really comfortable feeling long things going through her crack. What did I just say? I meant: she looks really comfortable feeling long branch going between her toes.
So the bottom line is:
WHEN THE HELL IS SHE GETTING HER OWN TITLE?
Petition starts now...

Gee, I didn't even notice the thing in her toes.

I actually prefered the lady in a costume over the current plant woman.

I preferred when she had some clothes on. Her sexyness was less forced. It didn't seem like she (or the artists) were trying as ahrd to be sexy and thus was sexier.
Also, I've nver liked her with green skin. Pale I can live with, but green looks bad on her.

I've never understood the sex appeal of someone who can kill you with their touch. Where's the fun in that?

It's not really a sexy thing to me, just makes sense for her to try and be totally natural and all. I know that their trying to just make more sex appeal but from a character standpoint it makes sense to me

Which Batman stories would you point out as Ivy interesting?
There is certainly "Cast Shadows" where she is totally a good girl, helping Bats to solve the case and pushing their relationship a step further.
In the "No Man's Land" Bats frees Ivy from the Clayface's mud. One of the rare examples Bats helping Ivy.
The first issue of "Batman One Year Later" had surprisingly different approach with Ivy, where she had a little chat with Bats about changing the world. Eventually, she went down without a fight.
There is certainly that "Shadow Of The Bat Annual" (#5?) where she describes her attraction for the Bat. As i recall, the attraction goes both ways.
And "Hush", where she seduced Batman's #1 enemy :)
What else would you add to the list?

I think we can file this under the "true technically, but who gives a damn" logic. a perfectly logical explanation can be just as irrational as an illogical rambling of tangential non-sequitors.
How's my toupe?
