My girlfriend's brother was killed when a scaffold from a Stuckey's that was being renovated collapsed on him as he was riding his recumbent bicycle underneath it. Anyway he had a ton of CGC graded books and being a comic book fan I took it upon myself to find them a new home... inside of my home. But I don't like the idea of them just sitting in a storage box or bookended on a shelf since he had a lot of my favorites and they have swell covers (Clowes' Eightball #19 with the 1st Appearance-David Boring cover, Superman's Metropolis, Jeff Campbell's Batman/Danger Girl).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to display a few of the better ones? It would be awesome to hang a few but obviously I don't want to compromise the seal. My shelf space is limited and all of them are a bit too deep for the slim books. Anyone have any experience with putting them up on a wall, at all?
Thanks in advance.

No experience, but I'd advise that you keep the comic away from direct sunlight.

CGC has its own message board; you might try asking there:

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend's brother. You have my condolences.

On the other hand, if I were you, I would just take the comics out of the slabs and read them.

I was just joking, that guy is a douche. I actually bought them.
I already own readable copies of most of the CGCed books I have.

So your brother-in-law didn't die? You actually PAID for CGC copies of brand-new comic books instead? That's a pretty despicable lie, newbie.

Why don't you take your CGC comics and build yourself a little star chamber you can jerk off on them with. They're worth more that way than showing off your slabs to people who might have no idea you actually paid money for something that's worth virtually nothing except to other dumb speculators.

I got them at a steal. I like the way they look, big UMPH?, what are you gonna do? I'm a reader thru and thru, I just like what they remind me of.

"Brother-in-law," shit, it's not going that fast...

Thanks Rob Allen, the guys on the CGC board were a great help, here's what they recommended:

If by steal you mean "cover price", then yea. Read em. If not, you wasted money, and might wanna find some other fool.

And starting off with "someone died and I got Danger Girl!"

Not the way to introduce strangers to your sense of humor...

Wow. The only thing more screwed up than the fake "story," is that someone would pay money to slab new comics.

But they're nice to look at. Really. They don't look like big industrial plastic beer coasters at all.

Why just frame the comic when you can pay much more to frame something already framed in a plastic coffin.

Ah, the days when you could just piss good money after bad. But then, I left home when I was seventeen instead of converting mom's basement into a CGC brand-new comic gallery. Money has different meanings based on your circumstances.

I don't know what's worse, that someone would slab Danger Girl, or that someone would buy a slabbed copy of Danger Girl.

Most of them date to the late 70s (the CGCs). They were part of a back issue collection I bought about with about 5 other people. A lot had already been taken by the owners. The most valuable that I took were a high grade Daredevil #181 and #12 signed by Romita Sr.

And it's Batman/Danger Girl, signed by Campbell and Yu. Plus, I love titties.

On the one hand, you lied about someone getting killed in a Stuckey's accident.

On the other hand, you have CGC books.

On the one hand, you support the "I like titties" platform.

On the other hand, you have a slabbed EIGHTBALL.

I want to like you, but those slabbed comics are making it so very hard....

Why would anybody slab Eightball? I was always under the impression that people who buy Eightball and people who slab comics have no intersect on the Venn diagram.

Ha I thought 'slabbing' was dipping the comic in lacquer or something,
like those tree section art clocks that convicts make.
Where they mount a picture of jesus to a section of tree and put
a heavy layer of lacquer on it. I did a google search,
but I can't find an example photo of it to try and explain
what I'm talking about, so I made this crudely in mspaint.

9.9 Wizard comic grading slabbing LOL!
Even with that 9.9 the average comic dealer would be all:
" i think I see some minor creases here...I'll give you 50 cents apiece."

Tadgh, you're gonna have to walk me through how the "I love titties" platform is a bad thing.
