Thank you, guys! :)
Troy got in really late last night (his 7:50 flight from DC ended up leaving at 1:30AM... He got home around 4:00, and we didn't get to bed until nearly 5:00). I planned to sleep in, but my parents called at 8:30 to sing to me (family tradition), and I answered it because Mom's trying to help us find a Wii for Finn, I forgot it was my birthday (half asleep), and figured she might be calling from the store with a question.. so I answered it. Silly me. Heh.
I'm letting him sleep in: he's so tired. We were so wiped I never woke up to take Finn to the bus, so we're just letting him have a holiday from school today, and he's happily playing the latest SW Legos for all he's worth. :D
So basically, other than the phone call and walking the dogs, it's been a quiet morning, and I've been mostly working on maps for my book. But I'm getting sleepy again *yawn*, and Troy took the day off, so I think I may just crawl back in bed to try to catch a little more sleep. I'll check back in later... thanks again! :D
Oh, and DMJim: now I'm curious---which post was it? I've been on here a looong time (over six years now), and that's a lotta posts. :D

Go for it. If there's one day out of the year you should be allowed to be lazy as hell, it's your birthday. :) Let us know how the rest of your birthday goes!

HA! He DOES play with Legos... and it's breaking our bank account, adding to the Star Wars Lego sets he already has, for his Christmas. Those things are HUGELY expensive, IMO. Sigh.
Nice thing is, he has a strong creative/building/engineering bent---so once we get the initial ship built, he then takes it apart and makes up his own ships, etc.

I did---he plays it (avidly!) too! He had the first two, but we did break down and buy the new one; mainly because it has some deleted levels, and the Indiana Jones character as an easter egg.
He LOVES that game. We'll be shopping for the Indiana Jones Lego game, when it comes out. He even watched the IJ Trilogy... and loved it. :D
*gets off on the "geek indoctrination" of her kid*
At some point, we're redecorating Finn's room. We're doing cityscapes on the walls, and I plan to paint and/or use the wall stickers, to do themes:
1 wall will have Star Wars
The rest will have modern cities... and superheroes on them, mostly Spiderman/Marvel. (He loves Spidey.) We're going with an Industrial theme to match both... lots of chrome, brushed steel, etc. We even have an idea for the central light fixture: do one of those "arm" lights, with four arms... and then sculpt and paint (with proper sculpting material) Doc Oc at the base, so that the lights look like his 4 mechanical arms. :D
This kid has it good, having geeky parents. :D

So, um, Happy Birthday, Solaris,

Until we either die, or win enough money to buy the property behind us (7 acres)... we love this neighborhood. :D
And I confess: it's entered our thoughts that
1. This will hold him on room decor for a LONG time (he's six), and
2. All his friends who come over will be jealous (gives our moody son hitpoints on the social scale).

I think I saved it on my harddrive somewhere. I'm pretty sure it was in the Rick Olney thread and you describe a librarian-like dominatrix putting a boot up Olney's ass or something. The description of the lady in question was quite enticing. :evilsmile

TO ALL:
I'm very honored (and tickled pink to see some of the people who've come out of the woodwork on this one!). Thank you all so much!!!
Oh, and though yesterday was pretty much just lazing around, tonight Troy is taking me out to dinner at the Imperial Fez: a wonderful Moroccan restaurant we recently discovered. The atmosphere is fun, the food is phenomenal... and the belly dancer is really talented. We've only been there once, and when he asked me where I wanted to go, I asked to go there again. Our lovely Perry and Dawn are going to Finn-sit tonight, so I can be wined and dined on yummy food and the best tea I've ever tasted (they have several varieties of spiced hot teas). Anyway, I'm looking forward to a great evening... and thanks again for the fun and birthday wishes, guys. :)
