What do you guys think?
Im jazzed about it. I gotta say, if what this writer is saying is true, that must be one of the coolest plans i have ever heard of.
Has this been taken from any of Joker's appearances in the comics?

Forget Mark Hamill and The Killing Joke. Heath Ledger’s Joker is THE definitive Joker.
This'll be something I'll have to see to believe. But, that sounds pretty good, to bad us people going to the reggie theaters won't be treated to it, but it sounded pretty banging from that article
I saw Heath in action at Wizard World Chicago. It was just a short preview of scenes cobbled together, but he really is going to blow people away as the Joker.
Too bad the only IMAX theater in Cleveland isn't showing this.

Im still skeptical about Heath Ledger...
But im willing to give him a chance.
Im going to see I Am Legend here in San Diego just so i can see that preview!

The bank owned by the mob cracks me up.
It really shows how corrupt Gotham is.
I didn't like Batman beyond though, but I'll still see this movie.

That's awesome, I'm so stoked. I posted the non-Imax trailer on my blog today. I'm really impressed with what I see of Ledger so far. Unfortunately, I'll have to catch this on DVD - I have a wee one who will not stand for a sitter. :(

The Killing Joker is an overrated story but surpassing Mark Hamill?Ledger is good but i have my doupts that he's the best Joker ever. But i hope he proves me wrong.

The 6 minute preview rocks! So does the smaller trailer one!
First of all, it was a great idea advertising-wise to attach it to a movie the way that they did.
Second, ledger's joker is really creepy. I was concerned when he was announced (based on his past work), but he proved his worth.

WHOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Ehm, its good, its really really good. Batman movies are supposed to be dark and scary... and of course, a little twisted! So if the rest of the movie is gonna be as good as the first 6 min, then it will be the best batman movie ever!

Meeh wasn't that impressed honestly if felt akward taking place during the day. It reminds me of the roberry scene in Point Blanke. Really not enough to judge ledger....hopefully the whole movie wins me over.

Spoilers ahead!
What? It felt awkward taking place during the day? Thats myopic opinion! What about the Heat with deNiro and Pacino? The most spectacular bank robbing scene was during the day and the movie kicked ass! And thats the point: any schmuck can rob a small bank during nighttime when no one is in it. But it takes a real pro (and a nutcase) for robbing it in broad daylight when the place is swarming with people. It also says that Joker is no joke: he's willing and ready to do the most daring things, he ain't no p*ssy man :) And the whole daylight robbing with the school bus escape is something like: the best place to hide a letter is on the mantlepiece!
The full trailer kicked ass. The first six minutes kicked asses! And the whole movie is gonna rock your ass off!

I don't think the scene would have the same kind of flair if Joker and his gang robbed the bank at night when no one was around.

I'm interested in the dialog, but since the sound is crappy there are few thing that i heard correctly and a few things i didn't. So here it goes:
The car crew was talking about how there are five of them: 3 inside and 2 on the roof. And sixth, the Joker, they guy who set the thing up and not being among them and still taking his share. Then they say something about 20 000 which i can't make out.
The roof crew continues the conversation about why are they calling him "the Joker", and explaining its because he wears makeup like war paint to intimidate.
The heist begins: heads down, hands up!
The security expert on the roof says how the number dialed from the bank isn't 911 but actually a private number. Then the other one shoots him in the back and goes down to work on the vault door.
After a while, the security guard takes a shotgun and fires onto the henchmen while screaming "Do you have any idea with whom you're stealing from, you and your friends are dead!"
Then there is that "Where did you learn to count" line/dialog after they shoot the guard which i can't understand correctly.
The guy working on the vault door says that the door were electrified with 5000V, "What kind of a bank Does that? - The mob bank". Then he says that Joker instructed him to kill his roof partner in order to enlarge his cut. In similar manner, he is also killed by one of the other henchmen.
So there are only two of them, and one of them says that probably the other one was also instructed to kill him. Then we discover that "the other one" is actually the Joker, and he says "No, no, no, i killed the bus driver!" So the first thug is confused "What bus driver?" And there is the bus flying in and running over the thug. The thug-driver comes out "School's out, time to go. That's an awful lot of money... what happened to the rest of the guys?" and then he is killed too! So in the end, there is only Joker left.
The half-dead security guard then starts mumbling: Think you're smart? You're just a hired goons. There are more things to believe in life, like honor... What do you believe in, huh?
(I believe in Harvey Dent, neat insinuation. We can now assume that Harvey is financed by the mob... and the Joker is the one who has to put an end to it all! No more crime in politics! So the real hero is actually Joker, and not the Batman. Bats is just a puppet. I'm just kidding here!)
"I believe, whatever doesn't kill you, it only makes you stranger", puts a grenade in the guards mouth, connects the safety pin with a wire, and pulls the wire as he's leaving inside the bus. And its a smoke grenade! Then he merges with the convoy of already passing school buses!
Is there something i missed or misunderstood? Contribute.

There's no insuniation about Harvey in the prologue.
Wiliam Fitchner is the bank manager, not the security guard. He's the bank manager for a mob run bank, and as we now know, all good bank managers carry shotguns under their desks.
Also it's "I kill the bus driver", not "I killed the bus driver". He kills the bus driver a minute after saying that.

That looks so frikkin brilliant. Wow. I kept thinking to myself how hard it would be to truly do a Joker as he is supposed to be- insane, brilliant, hilarious, sick, terrifying, mesmerizing, criminal, artistic and pure evil all at once.
And that was it. Right there. I love the immediate contrast to Batman. Just by working in broad daylight with such a large crew and on such a large scale you immediately establish the sharp divide in methodology. Batman uses shadows to be scary, but Joker doesn't care about being scary (though he is), he just cares about the joke. The more people watching, the better.

Man I disagree with that. THere's no IMAX theatre near me in Jersey and there's only 1 in the entirety of New York City which only has 1 screen. What's the point of releasing this thing if they are going to make it so hard to get to??

I'm sure those six minutes will show up somewhere else eventually in a quality format. But right now the movie is 8 months away. Give it time. The IMAX preview was to show off the IMAX format and convince people to see Dark Knight in that format. Can't do that without an IMAX screen.

It got more people into IMAX screenings of I Am Legend. I'm sure the scene will look great on your computer but they weren't selling the movie in general. They were selling the idea of seeing a movie on a big giant screen.
Warner Bros didn't even have to do this. They probably could have released the trailer and people would still want to see the movie. They just gave the people who paid extra to see I Am Legend on the IMAX a little bonus and hopefully convinced some of them to make the pilgrimage and pay the extra cash to see Dark Knight on IMAX (which I kind of want to do).
I don't think there's been a major release that had used the cameras in a way. So I can see why Warner Bros is pushing so hard to convince people they should see the movie that way.
That said it's the opening six minutes of the movie, you kind of don't want make that stuff so readily avaliable to the public for free this early on.
You'll probably be able to see it when a few months from now before the movie comes out when the anticipation is even higher. Or you just have to wait and see when the movie comes out.

Well it lacked real atmosphere if you ask me. Or a vibe I don't know the right words it just didn't feel menancing. I think episode of the shield is a good way to view it. That kinda changes a bit with the "No, I kill the bus driver" thing and the stuff after that.
I liked it. And from the trailer stuff, it kinda looks like the Joker is gonna cause as much chaos as he can risking life and limb to do it.

i hate waiting for anything but this, especially, will be unbearable. i just love the "everyman-for-himself" vibe that Ledger and his gang were giving off. Joker really hired a bunch of "clowns" (criminals greedy enough to kill one another to pull this job off) for the bank heist and it worked out in his favor. my only complaint is the sound quality of the clip. it is hard to understand in parts but i'm convinced that this will be great on the big screen.

Personally I thought it looked like crap, what is it? a rule that only the first Batman movie in a series can be good and the rest must suck. About the only thing the new Joker had that was cool was the laugh reminded me of Ceasar Romero's, beyond that he looked like crap and it seems like they are trying to turn Joker into just another serial killer rather than the psychotic individual that other killers have nightmares about.

All we saw him do the entire preview was cause trouble, orchestrate a school bus going through a bank wall, and kill killers including his own gang, and put a smoke grenade in a mobsters mouth... that wouldn't give the impression of a psychotic who killers have nightmares about at all....=sarcastic

The movie doesn't come out until July, the only people who would go to see the prologue or even know about it are fans. I really doubt that it packed in more fans to see the IMAX version of Legend. Those people were there to see Legend plain and simple. Add the fact that the actual IMAX theater themselves are so scarce, I can't imagine it's paying off for them. A bunch of people who most likely don't care about Batman and would be just as interested with the trailer shouldn't be chosen over the fans to whom the viral marketing is targeted towards. What would have made more sense is if they had just released that alone and allowed people to come and see it. If I actually could have found an IMAX theater that had a showing of Legend (which would involve me buying a ticket online the day before and then taking a train into the city), I would have watched the prologue and left. It's the buzz from the fans that will help this movie, that's obviously why it is being marketed this way. But the whole IMAX thing had just left me upset. I'd much rather see that than some mock newspaper.

The Fan buzz on this movie is really good right now with or without the prologue. The widely released trailer is getting people excited and Batman Begins is pretty widely accepted by diehard fans as the best Batman movie. Honestly the only thing that can hurt the movies tracking right now is if the actual movie isn't very good. But we won't find that out until July.
I think there's a decent cross section of people who would see both I Am Legend and Dark Knight. And the audience reaction to prologue was pretty positive (cheers and what not). I don't think that many people went to see Legend on Imax for the prologue alone. The Prologue was just a bonus for people who chose to see Legend on Imax. I think the whole point of the prologue was "Hey next summer you should really see Dark Knight on Imax. Lets show you why."
That said with more movies releasing scenes of the movie online I think it feasible that a few months from now you'll see the Prologue.

How do you figure? I mean, it certainly wasn't specifically catered to hardcore fans, nor is it universally available, but it is every bit as available to hardcore fans as it is to "general moviegoers". Namely, if you live near an IMAX or are a huge enough nut about either Batman or I Am Legend to fly or drive a long distance to one, you can see it. Otherwise, you can't.

Normally I see my films at cheap or second run movie houses. But I paid 15 bucks to see I am Legend (good film by the way) on IMAX just so that I could see the prologue. I was unmoved by the hiest. But I did get goose pimples seeing Batman move around in his new costume, and ride on that bike.

Well, you could have seen that part but slightly less cool looking at a regular theater.
Anyway, I'm sure some people enjoyed it. I would have but I don't go to IMAXs very often. Maybe for this crazy 3D Tom Jane stuff he's cooking up I'll go to a stereophonic showing or whatever they call it...
The sound is what freaks me out in movies more than the picture popping out of the screen usually.

Yes you're right, that is my gripe. IMAX theaters are so limited, what's the point in doing a tease if it's going to be done in a way that isn't easily accessible? I could go through the extra effort required to go see it but it's a huge hassle. So I miss out while other people who are lucky enough to live in the city and probably couldn't care less get to see it.

That was a response to an earlier comment that adding the prologue was good marketing for 'Legend.' I don't think it was because most people who went to the IMAX version of Legend went to see Legend in IMAX. The movie is 8 months away, only a minority of people (re: us) know or care about the prologue, so I know the majority of people who saw Legend didn't go just to see that.
