Trembling Blue Stars - The Last Holy Writer
The Sea and Cake - Everybody
Dntel - Dumb Luck

Soft - Gone Faded
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Bat For Lashes - What's A Girl To Do
The Hives - Black and White
El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead
I'm probably gonna get Soft's Gone Faded and either Jason Colette or Blonde Redhead this weekend.

Sophomore Slump: I was really looking forward to the new Band of Horses, and The Go! Team, and man, did they disappoint. I thought that both bands would've changed their sounds a little, maybe branch out, but they didn't.

Best album comprised of only B-sides: Bloc Party did the exclusive track route this year. Buy Weekend In The City at one Target get an exclusive single, but it at Best Buy get a different exclusive single, etc, etc. There were 11 extra tracks - pretty much another album. Bloc Party fans call this album of extras Another Weekend In The City. The problem is, Another Weekend In the City beats Weekend in the City all hallow. I don't think I listened to anything more this year than Another If Bloc Party had released Another as an actual album, that'd easily be my #1 for 2007.

I enjoyed the hell out of Wilco's Sky Blue Sky.

I'm not sure why but Wilco was under the radar this year for me. Is Sky Blue Sky more Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or more A Ghost Is Born?
Suppose I need to add it to my 'to buy' list. This is why I love end of year lists. I always either find out about a new band, or get reminded of something I forgot about.

I'm not familiar with A Ghost Is Born, but I can tell you that there is less reliance on technology in Sky Blue Sky as opposed to Foxtrot. It's simpler than a lot of their more recent stuff, but it still takes the band in a few new directions.

I'd nominate Neion Bible and Fear Of A Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree.

1. Foo Fighters - Echos, Silence, Patience and Grace

I think I only bought about five "new" albums all year and this was far and away the best.

I'm not sure I downloaded 30 albums released in 2007, let alone bought that many. The appetite and enthusiasm of people who follow new music so closely never fails to amaze me.

But I've been stuck in a time warp, listening-wise, for some time. And will be, probably, for a while to come.

Richard Thompson, Sweet Warrior
Bryan Setzer Orchestra, Mozart
Danny Gatton, The Hustler (issue of '77 concert)
Paul Mccartney's new album
Metheny and Mehldau
Lucinda Williams new album
Nick Lowe, At my age
It's not 30, but it's all I can come up with now.
There's about a million albums from the 80 years of recorded music to get to though...
As for the original guy's list. I like The New Pornagraphers. I'd rather not say anything than something mean about the rest though:)

The Donnas - Bitchin'
Mojave (http://mojavemusic.ca) - Stories
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81
The National - Boxer

Off the top of my head:

Foo Fighters - In Your Honour

Dropkick Murphys - The Warrior's Code

Weezer - Make Believe

Springsteen - Devils & Dust

The Sights - The Sights

Audioslave - Out of Exile

The Killers - Hot Fuss

Robert Plant - Mighty Rearranger

Shit, I didn't buy much new stuff this year, either. Didn't realize it till now, but there was definitely a big dropoff in new purchases from 2004. (A whole bunch of the ones I was gonna put on the list turned out to be 2004 releases, in fact.)

I did fill in a lot of gaps in my collection with newly-remastered releases, though. I hope I'm not turning into one of those there-was-no-good-music-after-year-x people.

Nice list, I-M!
I had more, but 30 is too many. Should've shortened it to a top 10. Problem is, it's hard to cut off at 10.
For instance, The Twilight Sad would've been like 31.
Aside from 'Dark Matter' I could never really enjoy Andrew Bird. Too much whistle, I suppose.
The White Rabbits are interesting, but I've heard is 'The Plot' and 'Kid On My Shoulders.' Same with Okkervil River, I haven't been exposed to them much.
Another vote for Wilco.
I had no idea that Dinosaur Jr. even released something this year.
I've never heard of Electrelane, or Justice. I'm gonna have to check them out.
I've been doing these best of lists for a few years now here at CBR, and it's always interesting to go back to last year and see what actually held up and what didn't. I'm betting I'm gonna go why was Jens Lekman at #16?

Machine Head's the Blackening was top notch. Soilwork's Sworn to a Great Divide, hmm, what else? This seemed like a really long year, but I think everyone else named the rest I dug.

Okay, I broke down and went into iTunes to see what I've got from this year.

Hands down, my favorite musical record of 2007 was Raul Malo's After Hours. Classic country songs performed like nightclub jazz numbers. And it's way better than I just made it sound.

I also enjoyed Porter Wagoner's Wagonmaster, Louis Philippe's An Unknown Spring, John Morton's Solo Traveler, Iron & Wine's The Shepherd's Dog, Colleen's Les Ondes Silencieuses, James Blood Ulmer's Bad Blood In The City: The Piety Street Sessions, The White Stripe's Icky Thump, Spoon's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, Measha Breuggergosman's Surprise!, Mark Prindle's Smilehouse, and M.I.A.'s Kala.

Albums I was intrigued enough to download at some point but have never gotten around to listening to all the way through:

Josh Ritter, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter
Radiohead, In Rainbows
Saul Williams, The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust
Siouxsie Sioux, Mantaray
Aesop Rock, None Shall Pass
Bettye Lavette, The Scene of the Crime
Babyshambles, Shotter's Nation
Buck 65, Situation
Tujiko Noriko, Solo
Animal Collective, Strawberry Jam
Burial, Untrue

But the albums released in 2007 that I've probably listened to the most have been comedy albums: Jen Kirkman's Self Help, Paul F. Tompkins' Impersonal, Patton Oswalt's Werewolves and Lollipops, Maria Bamford's How To Win!, Mike Birbiglia's My Secret Public Journal, the Sklar Brothers' Sklar Maps, and the Comedy Death-Ray compilation.

For instance, The Twilight Sad would've been like 31.

I think I put it really high on my list because I really enjoy shoegazer music. They put on a pretty good live show even though they had sound problems when I saw them.

Aside from 'Dark Matter' I could never really enjoy Andrew Bird. Too much whistle, I suppose.

To each their own. I remember having the song "Heretics" on a loop for half a day earlier this year.

I had no idea that Dinosaur Jr. even released something this year.

You should give it a listen. Lots of keen stuff on it.

I've never heard of Electrelane, or Justice. I'm gonna have to check them out.

Electrelane is cool. Very lo-fi at times, like Stereolab on downers but still catchy. Justice is loads of fun. "D.A.N.C.E." was one of my favorite songs of the year.

I still have yet to hear the new Go! Team, Stars, and Tegan and Sara. They're all that good? Keen. Anything else on the fringe of your list that you really enjoyed?

Most fun I had at a show all year was Jens Lekman, which is probably why I ranked that album so high.

EDIT:
And how is Los Campesinos? I've heard the name, but for the life of me, I don't think I remember hearing anything by them

Well, Raul Malos is interesting. And Porter Wagoner's stuff is exciting, I might have to get some of that Wagonmaster. I've been meaning to check out that Iron and Wine. I haven't heard any of that Josh Ritter, his earlier one, The Animal Years was okay. And if I was you, I would give that In Rainbows a few listens. A few listens is all it took before that CD owned my CD/iPod/iTunes.

The dim bulb just went off Justice do that song "We Are Your Friends" don't they?

I think you'd like The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - they're real shoegazey.
There was The Rumble Strips - they kinda sound like a 2007 version of Madness.
José González - some good folk
C Rayz Walz & Sharkey - Kinda Gnarls Barkley-ish.

And how is Los Campesinos? I've heard the name, but for the life of me, I don't think I remember hearing anything by them
They're a very high energy, seven piece. There's some definite cheek in their songs, but they're very catchy. I love 'em.

And I just realized I misspelled Raul Malo's name.

I bought very few albums this year and enjoyed even fewer. I can only do a top four, because that's all I remember.

1. Sage Francis - Human The Death Dance
2. Kanye West - Graduation
3. El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead
4. Brother Ali - The Undisputed Truth

I'm still trying to track down Buck 65's Situation, as what I've heard is awesome. I'm betting I'll enjoy it more than everything on that list excpet Human The Death Dance.

It's very good. Except for one song she wrote herself, the rest of the album is cover material, the best of which is her phenomenal rendition of Elton John's "Talking Old Soldiers" (from his Tumbleweed Connection album).

Top Albums
11. The Liars - The LiarsOkay, I understand different tastes and to each his own, but...really? The Liars? Seriously? I saw them live and they were terrible. I mean, the music was all right, if a disorganized, constant wall of sound with no real direction. It was good ambient music, but their vocalist (I dare not call him a singer) was bizarre and terrible. I mean...he thought he was the fuckin' jungle or something, randomly screaming and cawing like a animals and distorting his voice for no reason.

Rather than fresh and original, it came off much more like pretentious, weird-for-the-sake-of-weird juvenile douchebaggery. I mean, terrible.

Anyway...

Most of my purchases have been older music that I missed, byt Serj Tankian's solo album is fantastic, as was Megadeth's United Abominations. I'd like to check out the Plant & Kraus album, too.

The Apples in Stereo - New Magnetic Wonder
Billie The Vision and the Dancers - Where the Ocean Meets My Hand
The Films - Don't Dance Rattlesnake
The Dirty Novels - Pack Your Pistols
The Holloways - This is Great Britain
Kings of Leon - Because of the Time
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81
The Shaky Hands - s/t

Different tastes indeed. The Liars are one of the best bands of the 2000s. I haven't heard their most recent stuff, but their debut album was one my favorites several years ago.If you say so... they were dreadful live and their performance was incoherent shit. I saw them opening for Interpol and the crowd was not into them at all.
Yeah, different tastes. You can keep Megadeth, I'll keep The Liars. Why do you assume that because I like metal I don't also like other things? I am not saying I didn't like the Liars because I don't care for other styles of music. I don't like them because they were pretentious, pointless experimentation with no cohesion or voice or point or structure. Their vocalist cawed and crowed and whooped and jumped around and screamed and made noise for the sake of doing so, their music is wall-of-sound constant noise or it's quiet experimental pointless meandering... I mean, I guess different strokes and all that, but I just thought it was terrible music.

Anyway, that's just me. Sorry if I am being too intense or angry about it. I was just really pissed off that I had to waste an hour of my life watching them piss me off, LOL. Interpol was fantastic, if a tad repetitive.

Most fun I had at a show all year was Jens Lekman, which is probably why I ranked that album so high.

Seriously! I liked Night Falls Over Kortedala quit a bit before I saw him live, but it wasn't until afterwards that I really started to love it.

Also, nice to see Burial mentioned in this thread. A lot of Dubstep really bores me, but a few days ago I listened to Untrue and it blew me away. One of the few albums of that genre that I can listen to all the way through.

1. Daft Punk - Alive 2007
2. Matthew Dear - Asa Breed
3. Justice - Cross
4. V/A - Shut Up and Dance: Electronic Music for Ballet
5. TTC - 3615 TTC
6. A-Trak - Dirty South Dance
7. Efdemin - Efdemin
8. Einmusik - De' Medici
9. The Field - From Here We Go Sublime
10. Ricardo Villalobos - Fabric 36
11. Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
12. Surkin - Action Replay
13. Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?
14. Chromeo - Fancy Footwork
15. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
16. Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future
17. Yelle - Pop-Up
18. Pantha Du Prince - This Bliss
19. The Shoppings - The Shoppings
20. Popnoname - White Album
21. Boys Noize - Oi Oi Oi
22. False - 2007
23. Drei Farben House - Blending Days
24. 65daysofstatic - The Destruction of Small Ideas
25. Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
26. Modeselektor - Happy Birthday
27. Les Savy Fav - Let's Stay Friends
28. Do Make Say Think - You, You're A History In Rust
29. Gui Boratto - Chromophobia
30. Rufus Wainwright - Release the Stars

And since I saw a lot of awesome concerts this year, my top 10 of 07:
1. Daft Punk @ Vegoose
2. Daft Punk @ LA Sports Arena
3. Rufus Wainwright performs Judy Garland: Live At Carnegie Hall @ the Hollywood Bowl
4. Justice @ the Henry Fonda (fun fact: I saw them around the same time last year in a 400-ish capacity venue and it took the show about 3 weeks to sell out. This year I saw them at a 1200 capacity venue and it took 3 hours!)
5. A-Trak & DJ Mehdi, Kavinsky, Kid Sister, Peanut Butter Wolf, Catchdubs @ the Roxy
6. Rufus Wainwright @ the El Rey
7. Girl Talk @ the Echo
8. Of Montreal @ the Troubadour
9. Les Savy Fav @ the El Rey
10. Jens Lekman @ the Troubadour

And yeah, United Abominations was probably the years best Metal release. 2007 was definitely the year of Megadeth.

Between The Blackening and The Atrocity Exhibition, it doesn't look so hot to me, but yeah great album.

Liars are awesome. The latest record isn't their best, but it's still got some fine Jesus and Mary Chain-ish songs on it.

Anyway, some records I liked this year:

Times New Viking - Present the Paisley Reich
Trans Am - Sex Change
Deerhunter - Cryptograms
Psychedelic Horse**** - Magic Flowers Droned
Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Raccoo-oo-oon - Behold Secret Kingdom
Still Flyin' - Za Cloud ep
Reports - Mosquito Nets
Parts and Labor - Mapmaker
Blues Control - Blues Control
Oakley Hall - I'll Follow You
Gowns - Red State
Panda Bear - Person Pitch
Major Stars - Mirror/Messenger

etc

Raccoo-oo-oon probably put on one of the worst shows I've seen this year. I was really excited about seeing them since I liked Behold Secret Kingdom and their previous stuff, but after sitting through about 3 hours of terrible "experimental" bands (with the exception of Foot Village, who rock) all they did was put me to sleep (granted the show started really late, but oh well). Not interesting in the least. Times New Viking was pretty bad as well, I think. I can't really remember if I liked them or not, I saw them at Fuck Yeah Fest in August and it was all kind of a blur. Really love their album as well, though.

I still need to listen to a lot of the albums you mentioned. If I hated all of Animal Collective's previous albums, but liked Panda Bear's solo one, will I like Strawberry Jam?

I've heard a few songs from both Deerhunter and Panda Bear and I'd like to check out better further. And LCD Soundsystem. The lead singer from Deerhunter performs in a dress, right?
The rest I've never heard of and I'm gonna have to investigate.

I'd go so far to say that Iced Earth's Framing Armageddon - Something Wicked, Pt. 1 is one of the best put together concept albums I've heard in years.

The Of Montreal show I went to here in NYC was really, really weird. The band was great, but damn, these three girls who were standing in front of me were total jerks. They were flailing really wild and shoving people around... at a friggin' Of Montreal show, of all places!

It was an all-ages show, so I think they might have been high school students or college freshman. In any case, they successfully created a radius of poor etiquette (or as I later called it, an "@$$#o!e radius") around themselves the entire time.

Every couple of minutes, I'd look at someone else trying to avoid these three jamookss and we'd each exchange nonplussed shrugs and shakes of our heads.

I bought very few albums this year and enjoyed even fewer. I can only do a top four, because that's all I remember.

1. Sage Francis - Human The Death Dance
2. Kanye West - Graduation
3. El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead
4. Brother Ali - The Undisputed Truth

I'm still trying to track down Buck 65's Situation, as what I've heard is awesome. I'm betting I'll enjoy it more than everything on that list excpet Human The Death Dance.

Well, I bought Situation tonight, so it goes on the list. And I completely forgot about the Mac Lethal and Dethklok albums somehow. Revised top seven.

It was good ambient music, but their vocalist (I dare not call him a singer) was bizarre and terrible. I mean...he thought he was the fuckin' jungle or something, randomly screaming and cawing like a animals and distorting his voice for no reason.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Stuff I liked in no particular order

The National "The Boxer"
Radiohead "In Rainbows"
Saint Vincent "Marry Me"
PJ Harvey "White Chalk"
The Liars ST
Panda Bear "Person Pitch"
Animal Collective "Strawberry Jam"
Feist "The Reminder"
Blitzen Trapper "Wild Mountain Nation"
Grinderman ST
Jens Lekman "Night Falls Over Kortedala"
Band of Horse "Cease to Begin"

New records by White Stripes, Devandra Banhart, Iron & Wine, The Shins, and Modest Mouse were okay (well the Banhart record sucked hard) but weren't favorites.

Concerts I enjoyed

Sonic Youth playing Daydream Nation in it's entirety at Union Pool in Brooklyn
PJ Harvey one woman show at the Beacon Theatere
Spirtualized at the Apollo (Jason Pierce playing only accoustic guitar accompanied by a string quartet, a keyboard player and gospel choir).
The National at the Roxy in Boston
Built to Spill/Cat Power/Bob Mould at Union Pool
Yo La Tengo/Clean at on of their Channakah show at Maxwells in New Jersey (also John Oliver showed up to do some standup)
Blitzen Trapper at the Middle East in Boston
Jens Lekman at Webster Hall

Panda Bear "Person Pitch"
I keep hearing bits and pieces of this, and it's great. Not sure how I missed it the first time around.
And since no one asked concerts I went to this year:

My Morning Jacket - Marquee Theater, Tempe
Modest Mouse - Mesa Amphitheater, Mesa
Young Galaxy - The Modified, Phoenix
Thao Nguyen - Club Congress, Tucson
Jenny Owen Youngs - Rythmn Room, Phoenix
Bishop Allen - The Paper Heart, Phoenix
Modest Mouse - Treasure Island Music Festival, San Francisco
Spoon - Treasure Island Music Festival, San Francisco
M. Ward - Treasure Island Music Festival, San Francisco
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Treasure Island Music Festival, San Francisco
Two Gallants - Treasure Island Music Festival, San Francisco
Peter Bjorn and John - The Wiltern, Los Angeles
The New Pornographers - The Rialto Theatre, Tucson
Rilo Kiley - Marquee Theater, Phoenix
Regina Specktor - The Orpheum Theatre, Phoenix
And tonight I'm gonna see Modest Mouse again at the The Rialto Theatre in Tucson.

The best show was My Morning Jacket. The most fun was Rilo Kiley. And I'm super pissed I missed Neko Case playing in Tucson, but that was during the Thanksgiving Holiday, and with family in town, I couldn't go.

Stuff I liked in no particular order
[...]
Panda Bear "Person Pitch"I don't know enough about contemporary pop music to contribute much to the thread, but I happened to hear this in a used record store a few months ago and bought the cd on emusic. Very nice stuff. The only recent things that I've gotten into that I know for sure were 2007 releases are:

The Besnard Lakes - The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse
- Montreal husband & wife led group, nice sound, pretty consistent songwriting with a few standout tunes (personal fave: For Agent 13); very soft, ethereal music, not sure who to compare them to. Maybe Damon and Naomi, but they have their own sound. I like the female singer's low-key voice.

MF Doom - MM..Food
- this is another one I heard in the record store and liked enough to buy; one of the very few hip-hop records I've ever bought. So few I'm not even sure I'm using the term 'hip-hop' correctly here. I liked the choice and placing of the samples, the energy and ironic humour. Plus there's a comix connection; the guy's stage name, MF Doom, is an allusion to FF nemesis Doctor Doom, and several of the cuts on this cd contain samples of some guy reading what sound like actual Stan Lee-written dialogue and captions from old 60s FF issues (haven't tried to check this out to confirm). I don't know what it's from or if it was done specially for this cd, but the narrator has this perfect American 60s narrator voice like you hear in some old movies. Great stuff.

Air - Pocket Symphony
- actually not one of the French Duo's best efforts, but still worth a listen if you like this kind of layered, tuneful, largely instrumental pop music. If you want to give them a try I'd recommend almost any of their previous albums, though, before this one. 10,000 Hertz Legend (2001) and Talkie Walkie (2004) are probably my personal favourites, but they're all good.

Ian Hunter - Shrunken Heads
- just started listening to this lately, so haven't quite got a handle on it yet; so far I like most of the slower tracks best and not so many of the rockers, though there's nothing that really makes me want to skip over it. HUnter still has the knack of writing great hooks, especially on his ballads. If you're a fan at all you should check this out.

The only other recent things I've been into lately I think were 2005 & 2006 releases: Lemon Jelly's '64-95' and Infantjoy's 'With', both of which I got from emusic on Paul McEnery's much-appreciated recommendation. And Steffie Shock's 'Les Vendredis', Quebecois guy who I'm not sure I think is really good: all his songs tend to sound pretty much the same, for one thing, but at the same time they're incredibly catchy, to the point you're almost scared to listen to it cause you know it'll be stuck in your brain for the next 3 days.

Out of all the records I got this year, that actually came out this year Blonde Redhead - 23 is hands down the best of 2007 for me.

Stars of the Lid - "The Refinement of the Decline" is quite nice, but I've mainly listened to disc one. Disc two will be for 08 I guess.

Do Make Say Think - "You, You're a History in Rust" is pretty much just more from them... which isnt' at all a bad thing. Goodbye Enemy Airship remains my favorite, though.

Radiohead - In Rainbows. It's like OK Computer and Kid A fucked, and this is their love child. It didn't re invent the wheel, but I really enjoy it. Man, those drums on Reckoner are fucking ridiculous!

Burial - Untrue is a nice little piece of sound. I don't have much to say about it, but I listen to it quite a lot.

A lot of dissapointing records this year. Bjork's record kind of sucked. Low's collection of reworked old songs felt exactly like a collection of reworked old songs. Meh. Mock ORange and The Velvet Teen botth failed to release anything. Iron and Wine's new recod, while good... I dunno, I liked him with less instrumentation.

Lanterns on the Lake might be my new favorite unsigned band.

M.F Doom is amazing. And he is very much hip-hop.
The dialog is from cartoons, I believe. There are videos (maybe on YouTube) that show clips to go with the dialog. Doom uses those samples on most (if not all) of his albums. That's probably my third or fourth favorite album by him, but if you liked that there's a very good chance you'll enjoy his other stuff. My personal favorite is Operation: Doomsday (probably my second or third favorite album ever), but a lot of people swear by Madvillain (his album with producer/MC MadLib/Quasimoto). The Mouse & The Mask is the album he did with producer Dangermouse that uses samples from Adult Swim. There's also Vaudeville Villain (which I also love) and Venomous Villain. Those last two might be listed under his alias Viktor Vaughn, though. He also did an album called Take Me To Your Leader under the name King Geedorah. He's also got a live album called Live From Planet X, but I don't bother with live hip-hop albums.

There's also the stuff he did with KMD back in the early/mid 90s, the stuff he did with Monster Island Czars (a group who all take their names from Godzilla monsters) and an EP with MF Grimm called MF EP. Although, the KMD and MIC stuff might not appeal to you as much if you aren't into hip-hop.

If you're digging the production than the rapping you can get the Special Herbs Box Set that's got a lot of the instrumentals from his various albums.

And not that it matters, but Mm...Food is a re-issue. It originally came out in 2004. the re-issue, supposedly, has a different version of "Kookies".

I don't listen to enough new music to create a top 30 list. But here are two albums that I liked this year:

Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist
Straight ahead rock from the Pumpkins. I hope you had a chance to catch the re-vamped pumpkins on tour...cause they bring the rock. The main criticism I hear from people about this record is thats its over the top bombast. When was over the top to be avoided in rock? Aren't Sabbath and KISS over the top? In any case, I really liked this record despite the lukewarm critical response.

Marilyn Manson - Eat Me, Drink Me
A very personal record from Manson. I think its his best or second best behind Holywood. The Alice in Wonderland references in a few places as well.

I only got it a week or so ago but I'm absolutely in love with Cookies by 1990s.

There's not a lot of depth to it but it's just a lot of fun.

Gang Of Four meets Supergrass-esque.

That's so awesome. I saw them just before Christmas and Harrington dressed up as Santa Claus for the encore, but I'm guessing this was way better.

I was really surprised that Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga made it into so many critics' best of lists. It's a great album, but throughout the year it just seemed really underrated to me. I never heard anyone say much about it, and then all of a sudden everyone loved it. Or did I just never notice all the praise it was getting?

It sold really well. I remember a lot of people talking about it. But everytime a Spoon record comes out it seems a lot of people talk about them.

Harrington as Santa Calus sounds more awesome. But yeah it was a fun show. I needed a crazy show that night and I got one.

My New Years wasn't that great until the show. I went to see Juno and had some dinner and went straight to Bowery Ballroom at 2 Am. Then it got awesome. And I wasn't even drunk.

yeah... if u like Yelle , there is a compilation series you should check out called "Euro Club Hits" --

it's pretty clear that dance music is coming back around the world -- just check the recent big American hip-hop and R&B

hits which are clear rip-offs of the european dance style.....

here's the direct iTunes link to the "Euro Club Hits" series.....

My previous post deserves its own space :)

I haven't listened to many albums but enough for a top three. I could list out a top 20 if forced, but I only found three albums that I really enjoyed and/or felt as they were comprehensive and consistent. All personal taste of course. Anyways, my top three

1. MIA - Kala
2. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
3. Klaxons - Myths of the near future

I've also listened to the following - Jay-Z, Burial, the Go! Team, Amy Winehouse, Cut Copy, LCD Soundsystem, Peter Bjorn John, Bloc Party, Panda Bear.... and probably another 5-10 that I am forgetting.

Bruce Springsteen: "Magic"
Gary Allan: "Living Hard"
John Mellencamp: "Freedom's Road"
Sebastian Bach: "Angel Down"
Shooter Jennings: "The Wolf"
Steve Earle: "Washington Square Serenade"
Velvet Revolver: "Libertad"
