Old comics you should be able to get at big sites like mycomicshop.com or milehighcomics.com, among dozens of others.

No trades exist that I know of, but write a letter to Checker, Dark Horse, or perhaps the current Phantom publisher, Moonstone, asking them to reprint the run or issues you're looking for. Heck, write to all three.

It depends on what sort of Phantom stories you are looking for. Most of the "mainstream" comics produced by King Syndicate are really crappy, redrawn and very heavily edited versions of classic Lee Falk stories with poor Bill Lignate art. If you wanted full, unedited versions of Lee Falk classics with art by Ray Moore, Wilson McCoy & Sy Barry, the only publisher is Australian Frew comics. You have to remember that they are based on the original newspaper strips and so are in black & white. If you don't mind that, you are lucky because the best Frew versions are reprints done after 1992 and so are available (mostly on E-bay, but occasionally direct from Oz dealers) at a very reasonable price.

Before you start buying, go to (and bookmark) Bryan Shedden's Phantom site and by navigating the links, find out about the best editions of ALL stories. By buying the 100+ page Special Issues, you will cover a lot of ground with Lee Falk classics, though there may be slight overlapping. It is then a matter of continued browsing through Shedden's site (which you should use as a reference guide) to buy the remaning Phantom comics.
