For anyone who enjoyed or is a fan of the film, i was wondering why does Corey Haim's character Sam have a half naked poster of Rob Lowe on his closet? is he gay or what?

Some friends and I spent about 45 minutes drunkenly debating that.

Well, not if he was gay, but how gay he was, and who he was slipping it to in the movie.

Anyways, the answer is yes.

What, so suddenly it's gay to have half-naked pictures of Rob Lowe? Well you can just call me Clay Aiken, then.

Well that poster belongs in a girl's room and not a boy's room! not only that but Sam also has a "Born to Shop" shirt along with singing in the bubblebath to a song about "not getting a man" especially fuzzy bathrobes.

That's so funny. My friends and I have talked about that for years and no one's ever made any sense of it.

The funny thing is I overlooked the poster part. It was when he was singing, "I ain't got a man" in the bathtub that raises the red flag for me.

Remember gang, this was in the mid-80's when you still couldn't really talk about stuff like that in a mainstream movie.

They couldn't come right out and say he was gay, but it is safe to say that was the intention.

um. . .

look at the director.

it's the same guy who put nipples on the Batsuit. . .

Any boy that has a half naked poster of Rob Lowe and/or Burt Renynolds is straight as an arrow I tell you what. It's not like it was a poster of a half naked Judd Nelson for God's sake.

Jeez, I completely forgot that Schumacher - who is himself gay - directed Lost Boys.

So yeah, consider the theory confirmed.

Not to mention the band that had a ripped singer, that he was mesmerized by.

Lost Boys in general was a metaphor for gay teens.

But yes, the saxophone player scene was the gayest scene in a movie where actual gay sex was not occurring. Big surprise, from the director.

So, if I hated the movie, does that mean I hate gays or just metaphors for homosexuality? ~_^

I jape with goodwill, but I really did not like Lost Boys.

The saxophone guy is with Tina Turner's if i'm not wrong.
I remember him in that Tina Turner music video from Mad Max.

I hated Transamerica, but have nothing against transexuals.

Raises the red flag? you mean "Rainbow Flag"! HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA

Yes we all know that Schumacher is a bit on the gay side and did put nipples on Batman's outfit but i thought this was a great horror comedy with energy and wit especially memorable lines.

And I thought the statement "Batman and Robin was really gay" couldn't possibly become any truer to my ears.

I'm sure most people have sung along to lyrics that might be embarrassing in private (damn you Fergie!). But I never realized that the picture on his wall was actually Rob Lowe. I'd always thought it was just some shirtless singer (but still gay, of course).

Stonegold, you disgust me. I think you need to apologize right now. The saxophone player scene is certainly not gayer than the volleyball scene in Top Gun!

Muscle man in purple spandex gyrating while blowing into a phallic hunk of metal trumps men playing volleyball.

It's obvious that we need a mostly naked guy playing the sax while playing volley ball with his half naked friend. Someone get Hollywood on the phone. This is box office gold material here.

I thought Commando was the gayest movie ever made? I mean even the title can have homo-erotic connotations. :D

Commando certainly has the gayest villain ever. But I think there was a titty shot when Arnold and Bill Duke are fighting in the motel, so it's disqualified.

Sax Man could only overcome the gayness of Top Gun if his song was somehow gayer than "Playin' With the Boys."

That guy is setting them back years and years.
Lost Boys is still better than Anne Rice, and less gay.

Gay people are less gay than anything Anne Rice related.

I saw a gay saxaphonist in assless chaps singing in a Queen tribute band with his husband and two gay sons at a GLBT rally. I asked if he read "The Vampire Lestat" and he said, "That books a little on the homoerotic side for me."

Not to mention the band that had a ripped singer, that he was mesmerized by.

He was Tina Turner's saxophone player throughout the 80's. He's in many of her videos around 1984-1987 such as 1985's "We Don't Need Another Hero" (http://youtube.com/watch?v=sEFTzYRNDjM).
