No idea, I would just want to ensure that they don't cast people in their late 20s as teens and expect us to buy it throughout the first film and the 2+ inevitable sequels. You shouldn't have grizzled features and a five o'clock shadow when you're playing a babyfaced 16 year old.

Well Duhamel and Ryan Reynolds are both pretty old looking so I figure it could play off really well in a movie cos Dick and Wally are best friends. Checking out Duhamel in Tranformers shows that even though he's a bit of a pretty boy, he can be hardcore if he has to which sums up Nightwing to me. But yeah the way I figure is the movie would be Titans, not Teen titans :)

I think an exotic look is needed for Starfire. I would personally choose a non-caucasian actress. The only white chick I could see is now too old for the part--Rebecca Gayheart. She has the eyes and hair to pull off the look.

Reynolds is a huge guy. He'd tower over the entire cast. I have no idea why so many people want him to be Wally. The issues I have of young Wally don't have him as a wisecracking smartass at all. Sure, he's light hearted but he's not a loudmouth.

Alba shouldn't be anywhere *near* a super-hero movie after Fantastic Four. She certainly doesn't have the acting skills for Starfire, either, to me. I like the idea of using an exotic actress for it. Most likely they'd have to look for someone overseas for Star like in Canada, Asia etc.

Duhamel certainly could pull off Nightwing. But he is getting really old ---which is going to show when he's around much younger actors.

Ackles would need to do serious training otherwise no-one's going to take him seriously as Arsenal, IMO. He might be a better Beast Boy since then they can use CGI for stunt/fight scenes.

Donna and WW are roles that require an actress who both talent, looks and be a convincing action hero. Not easy to cast at all. Using eye candy doesn't cut it for me. You do that you get Jessica Alba in FF. *shudder*

Having one or the other doesn't work, though. That's why casting Donna is tough --- but there should be actresses that exist for them. It just means they're unknown and/or just doing indy films.

I say cast unknowns. Most of these casting picks will be too old by the time they make a Titans movie. And keep them in the 14-15 year old range so they can do two or three movies as teenagers.

Glau is also looks young enough to pass off as a mid to late teenage re: Serenity, Terminator.

And she's got amazing acting talent to back it all up. Few young actresses today can say that.

Make-up and CGI make it a non-issue.

Raven isn't popular enough for this to be a big factor. Only the uber-die hard readers of Perez and Wolfman's original runs will even notice it.

Getting an actress who has the acting skills and the exact appearance of fictional characters is always hard.

She is quite skinny and shouldn't have trouble being a convincing goth chick. besides, Raven is covered head to toe in a black cloak 99% of the time anyway.

Sometimes Hollywood goes with the best option and Glau is close enough to pull off a convincing Raven. Second best is Ellen Page.

Would the animated series be a problem or a help to any movie being made? If people want the Wolfman/Perez "characters", albeit in a highly anime-ized style, they can watch the series on DVD.

The current characters in the comic are essentially a mini-Justice League IMHO in almost a rip-off way. At least characters like Robin/Nightwing, Aqualad/Tempest, Speedy/Arsenal, Kid Flash, etc. were established sidekicks when they formed the team. However, that may be too hokey an idea for kids today to accept. The first step for any potential movie should be figuring out what story you want to tell and picking the best characters to tell it.

Plus, I'm sure the producers of the current Brandon Routh Superman series and Christian Bale's Batman would just love having to deal with Superboys and Robins.

Maybe the best way to handle it would be to have the death of their mentors (in the future) cause the kids to band together, get serious, and save the world from the threat that took the lives of the adult heroes.

Since this is a casting thread, I'll add my vote (based on physical similarity) for the blonde from 8 Simple Rules..., the final season of Charmed, and currently The Big Bang Theory for the current Cassie version of Wonder Girl. If these weren't the "Teen" Titans, I'd vote for Holly Marie Combs as Donna Troy/Wonder Girl.

It's being written by marv Wolfman IIRC.

Not sure how far it's gotten. Haven't heard any news on it for months.

So I get a vote of confidence for Page as second in line. :) Hey, that's more than I could have hoped for. Page seemed to be the only one who was young enough and had the acting range and was at least close to Raven's body type. Body type to me is not as critical as acting ability.

If we want to skew really young AnnaSophia Robb might have an outside chance of looking sorta like Raven but I'm not sure she is necessarily a close fit. That's who I'd pick if I was skewing toward an actual teenager, someone who's not really well-known, who "might" be able to play the part by the time the movie can hit production. Based on current displayed acting chops I still lean toward Page, though. I'm not sure Glau's a bad match for Raven, really, but comparing what I've seen of Glau's work to Page's work Page just seems a better match for the character even if Glau might have more of the look. That's just my take.

And ditto to they who say Alba should be kept far, far away from superhero films.

Hmm... depends a lot on if we are basing it on the current cartoon or the Old School Wolfman/Perez series.

If the latter... still need to shoot for twenty-comething for the most part, however if Harrison Ford or Donald Sutherland were up for it physically either of them could do the Deathstroke thing quite well.

Actually, from what I remember, Raven is in proportion.

Raven should also be an actress from India, or of Indian origin. If Ashwarya Rai was a few years younger, she would be best for the role, or Angelina Jolie when she was in Hackers.
