These are the three best clips I found today after seeing the poster up at the movie theater last night. I never made it through the book as a child. I'm gonna have to now that the movie is fast approaching. Everything online says its May 16th but the poster says may 5th so im not sure which it is. reguardless after the success of the first fil I'm so glad they went with this one next, hopefully to be followed by the voyage of the dawn trader, and silver chair. then they could finish up with the magicians nephew, the horse and his boy and the last battle.
edit: sorry for using the word thread in the title, justin and stony please don't yell at me

They should have Done the Magician's Nephew First because of the set-up, but In understand that TLTW&TW is way more popular and known.
They'll never do the horse and his boy because of what it contains and how little it affects the overall story of Narnia. I mean the only connection to the other books is Aslan in a little bit and The Four from TLTW&TW in a very brief, just mentioned but not really seen scene.
If they continue to do them they should do Voyage Next, then The Magicians Nephew then the Silver Chair, The Last Battle.

the horse and his boy has edmund susan and lucy as adults, they could get the three that played them in the first movie to come back

I disagree. I think 'Nephew" is the inferior work to Wardrobe, and is only good if you've read and enjoyed Wardrobe, and want to know the origins of characters.

Agreed. They could have theoretically worked "Nephew" into "Wardrobe" as a sort of backstory. The lightpole and where the Witch came from would be the big highights of it.

The kids are growing too fast for them to do Prince Caspian later and Magician's Nephew next, so they made the right choice, IMO.
Can't wait for next May for this.

I think it's only fair that large numbers of atheists should organise outside screenings and protest this Christian propaganda.
I mean....to maintain the balance.

The costumes look good. The youngest girl from last movie appears to be hitting the awkward looking stage. Too bad this is a frigging Disney film. You see how cool the fight scenes really could be, but cus its Disney everything will be toned down. It is slightly frustrating. It is like you know the action sequences could be much better.

Awesomeness. Too bad they aren't as time-efficient with these as the Harry Potter flicks (2 and a half years?!), but it looks like it's been time well-spent crafting a masterpiece

The Narnia books weren't meant to be adult bloodfests. Disney is perfect for this.

Wait--wasn't Prince Caspian one of the middle books in the story? They aren't going to go chronologically?

I think they want to run with the other story that has the Pensive children, so they can use the same actors before they grow up.

Hem hem.
The books were not published chronologically. Originally thery were published in this order:
1) The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
2) Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia
3) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
4) The Silver Chair
5) The Horse and His Boy
6) The Magician's Nephew
7) The Last Battle
As this was the publication order, more and more things were revealed about Narnia in each book. Years later, somebody decided to republish the books and number them in chronological order. This was the source of much controversy, and really makes no sense because this way you get spoilers for other books and don't have the backstory you need, etc. The new order is:
1) The Magician's Nephew
2) The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
3) The Horse and His Boy
4) Prince Caspian
5) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
6) The Silver Chair
7) The Last Battle
The films decided to go in the order Lewis originally wanted.
Thank you.

Oh my God I cannot wait!
I am so stoked. And of course, with this movie coming out, that means my favorite is just that much sooner to being made. Voyage of the Dawn Treader FTW!
Ok, maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but now that I know the official release date I can thoroughly reread the book and get all prepared. That and I have plenty of time to warn the BF, who isn't a Narnia fan, to keep that weekend absolutely free so we can see it opening night.

I think the next one is slated for summer of 2010.

One of the ten thousand movie rumor sites claims that after the success of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Disney and Walden Media green-lit making the entire series as movies. I tried to find a link on imdb.com but all I saw were threads about Harry Potter vs. Narnia.

They better, or Caspian will be middle-aged by the time he calls them up again for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I rather thought that he was supposed to be much younger for their first adventure...

"Voyage..." is my favorite, but I'd love to see how they'd do "The Silver Chair" on the big screen. Seems Ben Barnes would have to be older for that one.

Number of continents director Andrew Adamson visited looking for locations for the film: 5
Only continents he didn’t scout: the Arctic and Antarctica
Principal locations for the film: New Zealand, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Poland
Prague’s historic Barrandov Studios, where many of Prince Caspian’s main sets were built, was founded in 1931 and has recently become a popular destination for Hollywood. Other recent film shot at Barrandov include Casino Royale and The Bourne Identity...........

If some of the locations in Prince Caspian look familiar it’s because the production shot in some of the same remote areas of New Zealand’s South Island that previously appeared as Middle Earth in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I went in with somewhat low expectations. I've never read Lewis' novels (just some Screwtape Letters and Mere Christianity variety), and I'd been told this film wasn't as good as the first. Upon seeing it, though, I enjoyed it more than TLTW&TW, and now it's only a matter of time before I read the books.

I really like it, but it was a bit darker and more violent then the first. All the returning kids did a pretty good job in their roles. I thought the only weak spot acting wise was Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian, he just seem wooden and unsure of himself.
And Aslan is just badass.

I saw it opening night and had a really great time.
I think my favorite character in this movie was Edmund. Out of all the returning characters he was the most interesting and fun to me. Also, out of all the new characters, my favorite was Reepicheep. Eddie Izzard did a fantastic job not overdoing the voice acting. He actually made the whole idea of a talking, swashbuckling mouse totally awesome.
The only thing I can complain about was the pacing. Sometimes it was just staggeringly slow, but once it got to the action bits, especially the single combat between Peter and King Miraz, it was great.
This has got me super excited for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader which was my favorite book of the seven.
Quite surprised that it only made 56.5 million dollars over the weekend, I thought it would have taken in more. Iron Man made 31 obviously the film still has legs.

I saw the movie today and I really liked it.
I laughed at just how bad Peter and Caspian were at sticking to the crafted plan. Very poor military leadership on their part.
Lucy remains my favorite. Georgie Henley is just wonderful in the role and it was nice to see her "attempting" to be bad-ass with the dagger twice in the film.

Alternate names I thought of for this movie during the excrutiating time it took to end: Prince Goes on Forever, Prince Boring, Prince Plot Makes No Sense, Prince Is This Over Yet, Prince Stupid, Prince Arbitrary.
I went in with mixed expectations as I found the first movie to show promise but have some serious flaws as well. I probably wouldn't have gone at all except my kids wanted to see it. This movie seemed to find all those flaws I saw in the first movie and exploit them while avoiding the fun of the first one.
Problems I had:
Susan and Caspian apparently were interested in each other? At no point during the movie until he rescues her does this seem even remotely hinted at but at the end you would think it was a well crafted plot point.
Why is Lucy so arbitrary with her magic potion. So many allies were dying but only a few are worth giving it to?
I'm sorry but "Things can't happen the same way twice" is a piss poor lame excuse by Aslan to sit by and let so many die before he comes in acts all heroic.
Speaking of which, riding a horse really fast is a pretty lame way to summon him. Lucy should have at least had to say an incantation or something.
I said similar to this on a different board and was immediately accosted as being anti christian and not understanding the bible.

I was bored, as was most of the audience. Way too long, not enough whimsical fantasy elements, like in the first film, to carry it off. The villain was ok, but he couldn't hold a candle the Tilda Swinton. I was so glad to see her. Her brief cameo really livened up the picture, and distracted from those two horrible halloween costumes that were prancing around in her scene. Caspian, Peter and Susan were way too irritating with their pouty Ambercrombie faces and perfectly coiffed hair. Caspian's "accent" was laughable. I guess all the good kid talent in England went to the Harry Potter franchise. My favorite was the red dwarf. He stole the picture for me. Edmund and Lucy did a good job.
That stupid mouse was so Puss-In-Boots from Shrek, just not as funny. I cringed everytime he was on the screen. And slitting the throats of the bad guys and wanting us to laugh at it? Yeah, that's really PG and Disney at the same time.
I wanted to stand up and yell at the screen to Caspian and Peter that their teen age pissing contest is really boring and really poorly acted. Just whip out your junk and see who's biggest already so we can move on with the story and get on with our lives. Or just make out and get it over with.
For a "religious" film, there's a lot of kids gleefully killing people and a lot of love for the mythological "heathenistic" Greek creatures running around. Also, what's all the hate for Spain? I know England and Spain had their differences in the past, but come on. You think the designers of the film would have a little more imagination than opening up a history book of Spain and saying "Let's just copy that" instead of making something fresh and new. Who are the English/Narnians gonna fight in the next film - Belgium? Germany?
I was bored, as was most of the audience. Way too long, not enough whimsical fantasy elements, like in the first film, to carry it off.
This probably explains why it did so poorly. I'll wait until it comes out on DVD. Though to be frank I didn't like the first film either. I just found it boring.
By the way are TCON really about religion or is it something which Christians tacked on to it due to the fact that CS Lewis was a Christian theologian? When I read the books as a child, I saw no religious references. I was just surprised when I saw the entire set in the church library.

If they had just killed beardo the Spaniard when they had the chance (either of their chances) hundreds of lives would have been saved. This isn't like "Batman should kill Joker" this was a war situation where death was guaranteed, and one of the times was an agreed apon duel to the death, making Caspy and Peter a couple of contract-breakers when they didnt' kill the guy.

Yeah they are an allegory for Christian Mythology which is why the kids are reffered to as son's of adam and daughters of eve. Aslan is obviously Christ that's about as far as I got with the book series. I never read the others all the way through. Though I have since read the majicians nephew. I don't even remember how this one ends.

Hint it's where the lamp-post comes from.
I'm not bothered seeing this, after seeing that the film makers from the first are hanging around. I truly disliked that.
And Narnia was a major part of my childhood, so I'm not just speaking out of pique.

As far as the first one, I thought it was one of the best adaptations I have ever seen, (i've never read the LOTR) Btw Dawn Traeder is being directed by someone else. But adamson is staying on to produce.

Actually, the contract was broken by Miraz when he called for the second respite and then tried to kill Peter. Anything that occurs afterwards is not covered by the contract because it had been made invalid by the actions of Miraz.
