View Full Version : Robin vs. Azbats question

Okay, this might take everyone back a little bit, but I was thinking about the first issue of the ongoing Robin book, which began on the tail end of a fight between Robin and Azrael/Batman. At that point, Robin does the smart thing and gets his feathery butt out of there (with his brand-new motorcycle). But it's also pretty clear that Azrael isn't right in the head and needs to be taken down. Except Robin doesn't do anything about it. He doesn't contact Nightwing or Oracle. He just goes off to have his own adventures while poor, demented Jean-Paul drags Batman's dark and mysterious name through the mud.
Any theories or explanations for why Robin let things be?

I think he mentioned somewhere that since Bruce picked him, he must have something.... I don't know, maybe I'm forgetting something, but I think that's what he said.
And since Bruce picked him, he figured it was Bruce's issue, and he didn't want to burden him....

Back then the batfamily was tight knit like they are now. You didn't see Nightwing, Robin, Oracle, Batgirl, Azrael, etc working together all the time and interacting with each other. Appearances by Nightwing were a big deal, where as now they are commonplace.
As for why he didn't tell Bruce, he didn't want to worry him since he was already having a hard time with searching for Tim's dad and Shondra, and having a broken back.
