Bobby.
They have a history, they gelled well in the Gen X prom issue, both understand each other's psyche, she's older than him (Bobby seems to be okay w/ Mrs. Robinson-style lovin'), and she's one of the few people to actually call him by his proper name, Robert.

i voted Havok 'cause I like to see Scott unhappy...he's best when he's moping and miserable....and Havok seems to like being duped by his brother's gfs (i'm thinking of something ala Maddie during Inferno)...but I'd love to see Emma find someone new that we've never seen before....a new threat to the team....

actually, i was thinking about how Emma and Satyrnyne are kinda similar and maybe Brian Braddock could get with Emma....but only if Alan Davis draws it!

jarrod
11-30-2007, 01:10 PM
I'm likely alone in this one, but I've always thought Brian Braddock would make an interesting partner for Emms... especially given their family connections (via the HFC). Even as just a subtle flirtation rather than all out affair, I could see it really getting under everyone's else's skin (Kitty, Betsy, Scott, Kurt, etc).

I mean, Claremont keeps heaving Emma's old plots on Sat-yr-9 (Kitty obsession, White Queeniness), how about a little reversal for once?

I don't think Claremont placed Emma Frost's old plots onto Sat-Yr-9. Sat-Yr-9 wanted to have Shadowcat's phasing power & Phoenix's cosmic powers for herself. Emma Frost wanted Shadowcat to be a Hellion & eventually a member of the Hellfire Club.

Meh, both wanted Kitty for their pet protoges and both dynamics had a strong lesbo undertone going... honestly the relationships between Claremont/Byrne's Kitty/Emma and Clarmeont/Davis's Kitty/Courtney were almost identical from the older woman's perspectives.

Her and Bobby have a lot of unresolved issues they need to deal with, so my vote is for him. They had a lot of hot and heavy flirting since the early #300's of Uncanny, and that carried into Generation X later on. And seeing that he's a little more dangerous compared to where he was before a few years ago, I'd say the timing is just right. Besides, Scott stole Jean away from him in their teen years, so this would be the perfect payback.

Two things:

1) Bishop should never die. He's far too awesome for that.

2) Bishop and Emma are like two magnets of similar polarity. Never the twain shall meet, and so on...

I voted other, but the idea of Ch'Talla(sp?), Black King, and Emma, White Queen, would be interesting, just because of the chess concept. But how about Emma goes for one of the younger x-men, be a pedofile. It'd give mutant psychics a bad rap(well Xavier had a thing for jean I believe) and I'd find it funny. I voted for Bishop in honor of Sinjection. One more black man looking for a white woman's approval. Or whatever that smack he's always talking about is.

Yes, honorable and worthy of respect I am indeed. However well intentioned, your worship needs a little sinjection correction.

I didn't say black men look for a white woman's approval.

I said that in the case of the black mutant female, there needs to be immediate white mutant male love interest removal.

Aside from the fact that the x-writers see fit that the average life span of a black male mutant character should be an existence of no longer than 5 issues in duration, there is absolutely no reason I can see why Ultimate Storm, Monet and Cecilia Reyes should not be upgraded to relationships with black males.

As for Emma Frost. Not Bishop, not Black Panther, not Maggot's ghost would want anything to do with that creature. You see, without her artificial physical enhancements, Emma is the type of female who has no boobs, has no beauty, has no booty and is all bitch. That she is also a white woman only exacerbates what is an already intolerable set of circumstances. Man-Thing wouldn't want Emma Frost.

No need to thank me. As I said, it's just a little sinjection correction for ya a$$.

Yeah, but who would have thought Scott and Emma would work as a pair eight years ago? No one would have even considered it. At that time, Bobby seemed a WHOLE lot more logical. Jean and Scott were happy (Well, seven years ago, Scott was probably dead), Emma was flirting with Sean and Bobby, Scott considered Emma a reluctant ally with a past full of murder and deceit and the age gap WAS more like Scott and Kitty. Only Scott was the young one ten years the junior.

I gotta say, Cyclops and Emma bore me- it is time for some new developments, like Emma getting together with Iceman. I loved their chemistry after the Phalanx Covenant and during Gen-X. What was that thing she said to him after she possessed her body? Something like "You're a dumbass..... I like that in a man." And then they went to prom together which was fun. I don't know, Bobby needs to move on from Mystique- he can do much better, and I think he and Emma would have a really great dynamic because she's so uptight and classy and he's a goofball. It'd be interesting to see them date.

That said, she and Havok also had some GREAT chemistry during Milligan's run on X-Men. I liked that she always called him "Alexander." And of course if they dated it would be so messed up, and so there would be that much more drama at the mansion - always a good thing.

At this point I think I'd just settle for the X-Men not shrugging their shoulders and effectively doing whatever Emma tells them to do.

But putting her together with Iceman would be near the top of my wish-list as well. Of course, I can see the relationship being viewed by some sections of fandom as Iceman still simply hiding in the closet, with Emma being viewed as little more than his hag, so it's swings and roundabouts there, really...

That said, she and Havok also had some GREAT chemistry during Milligan's run on X-Men. I liked that she always called him "Alexander." And of course if they dated it would be so messed up, and so there would be that much more drama at the mansion - always a good thing.

Nah, Emma's too old and mundane for Xavier's tastes. If she was a redheaded teenage girl or a bird-lady with feathers for hair (or Scottish - and I'm part Scot, okay, so don't get on my case about that ;)), he'd be far more interested :p

*sigh* Happy times were they. Happy times indeed. Emma didn't suck because of absurd, ridiculous overexposure (and she wasn't the progenitor of a legion of super-telepaths, either), and Scott wasn't a total douchebag...

Hey, as I said over at Comicboards.com, I'll take Jean over Emma any day, because while Jean getting over-pushed may result in a Phoenix episode, Emma getting over-pushed gave us Phoenix: Warsong. And that was far worse than anything ever produced by the cosmic parrot ever.

Ever.

Sorry - my lack of concentration over my cut-and-paste skills can get to me on occasion. But hey, you got labelled as a black guy for a few minutes - you should feel honoured for the upgrade :p

That was some hot and sexy art, I agree. I prefer his X-Men: First Class art because it's his own style, but this works very well too.

I've always like her chemistry with Iceman, a hookup between them might be interesting. They have some history together, and the relationship would feel less forced than the one he's having with Mystique.

Same with Havok, I loved them together on Milligan's run, some neat interactions there. And it would certainly get Cyclops upset.

And I guess she'll fit right in with Angel as well... so I'm torn between those three.

Ditto for the first two. Those relationships would be more interesting than what we're getting with her and Scott these days. However, I don't think Warren has a preference for women of his social class. His track record has a good variety, but most of the women he's dated have been nothing like Emma (and Betsy).

I have this problem too, not that I'm rich like Warren in the comics is but I do ok, and I admit I gravitate towards women who are less well off than I am, it's a power thing and I admit it's not so healthy. Perhaps that is why Warren's relationship's don't last, now of course Emma has her own money so she doesn't need anyone else's , perhaps that dynamic would make for an interesting story, as Warren is not used to such a headstrong woman.

Emma was painfully obviously just messing with Bobby. Geez.

As if she'd ever go with anyone who's not a part-time control freak.

Hell, if anything, Bobby and Alex, along with Wolvie, are by far the least likely of this list.

Excuse my ignorance on the character (if I'm wrong), but in the beginning, wasn't he claiming to be from East L.A., or somewhere thereabout?

Well, she seemed to have a thing for Bobby at the time (first Emma then Mystique - do all the X-Bad Girls have a thing for him? It seems almost like they are trying to relive their youth or something). Bishop and Cable seem like weird options though. I thought her and Banshee would have been great. Or even her and Xavier - they seem like equals in many regards. Now that he can walk, he is getting his sexy back with Danger Room workouts and maybe a little Rogaine for men. Hmmm? Hmmm?

Monet is 16, but she has been having sexual intercourse and is now possibly pregnant by the duplicate of a freak of a white male mutant who has to be at least twice her age?

And the x-fan thinks this is a "cool" thing? That Warren Worthington can become sexually active with a female barely out of her teens is a "cool" thing?
I believe there are laws against what madrox has been doing with M and with Siryn. However, as long as it happens in the sex-obsessed x-publications, it's all good. "What happens in the sex-men books, STAYS in the sex-men books."

They kill off a black male character of M's age and hook her up with an old, lecherous freak of a white male mutant's DUPLICATE no less.

It reminds me of how so many people were hot to watch the sex scene in that movie I didn't watch, which featured the old, white male actor Mickey Rourke in a torrid sex scene with the actress Lisa Bonet who because of her exposure as one of the lovely daughters of Cliff and Claire Huxtable on the Cosby Show, was extremely popular at that time.

I'd imagine she's at least 20-21 by this point, if Austen's estimate of her classmate Husk's age as being around 19 when he was writing Uncanny X-Men is accurate. Madrox is probably not that much older, considering he was introduced as a fairly young character himself (as far as I can recall).

It's not like he's just wandered into an orphanage and grabbed the nearest five year-old...

And the x-fan thinks this is a "cool" thing? That Warren Worthington can become sexually active with a female barely out of her teens is a "cool" thing?

I think you'll find that very few people thought that Warren (who Austen was writing as about 26) hooking up with Husk was a good thing, actually. Seriously, go look it up. The amount of vitriol thrown at Austen for Warren & Husk's bad portrayals is quite astonishing.

I believe there are laws against what madrox has been doing with M and with Siryn.

Um... Madrox isn't married to either M OR Siryn, so there can't be any accusations of adultery. And if M is being portrayed as over the legal limit, there's no chance of him being done for child abuse or statutory rape, either. Consensual sex between two adults is legal, last time I checked.

Try again, Bragg.

They kill off a black male character of M's age and hook her up with an old, lecherous freak of a white male mutant's DUPLICATE no less.

Heaven forbid she find a white man in his mid-to-late-twenties attractive, naturally...

Heh. Yeah, it's freakin' revolting, two consenting adults shagging each other because they want to have a good time...

By the whole sliding scale rule, Monet is around 19-20, and Madrox is 25. That's not weird or illegal at all. Granted, Warren and Paige have a 10 year difference, but it was still legal, and what girl in the MU wouldn't be attracted to Warren? Still, I don't know what the hell Austen was thinking having them screw in the air above Mrs. Guthrie. Sounds like a sick personal wish fulfillment on his part.

A fair majority of ages between 1-20 might be construed as just a little bit illegal =P ;) But I'll assume you meant 18/19.

In which case, I agree - I think Austen was fairly grotesque in the way he dealt with the Angel/Husk relationship, but I fail to see what the big deal about age gaps are. Are you all supposed to track down people with the same birthdays? No, people mature physically, emotionally and mentally at different rates - I hate it when people are derogatory about a couple solely because their birthdates don't match up, it's comparable to people looking down on couples of different nationalities or skin colours.

I'm sure Austen tried to put the record straight on that issue by saying that they weren't actually shagging in mid-air... but you're right. As far as I can discern, a parent knows their child will be having sex one day - they just don't want to know, if you see what I mean...
