Well, it looks fantastic. You got a bigger version of the image you could upload? Also? How large is the painting itself?

Nice job on the hair. Almost looks photorealistic.

The painting is really beautiful. I only have a few complaints.

Her hair looks like its brown. It should be more red.

What color are her eyes? I can't really tell but if I had to say, I would say they are brown. Jean's eyes are green.

The Phoenix in the back ground doesn't look like a Phoneix. It looks more like a flame.

And her breasts are a little too big. I know most fanboys don't mind that but I just don't care for when artist make almost all their women have DD or D size breasts.

Other then this, I really do think that painting is beautiful.

that is really tight as an oil painting, any chance of an up close look? it kinda looks digital to me.

Yeah great work, quite photo-realistic. How long have you been painting?

I've been painting since I was a kid and did it professionally in my 20's. Then I went into web development and have stayed in that field ever since. This is my first painting in close to ten years.

Wow, I think it's darn good. I had to do a double-take to see if it was a photo or not. It has the photo-realism of a Bell or Vallejo piece, only it looks like a woman in a costume, rather than a woman with a costume painted on as theirs tend to. The effect in the background is great, too.

Assuming you could maintain a decent work output, you could DEFINITELY make some spare cash doing comic covers.

That's fantastic, the body reminds me of an Alex Ross... The face and background don't though. Not sure what I mean by that.

Outstanding work, Asif, and the pieces on your website are extraordinary!

I hope you won't wait another ten years before the next painting!

oh, i'm sure it's going to be a long time before I do another one. It's really hard to find time with family and career.

That is an awesome techinque you've mastered there! It is a shame that your life now won't facilitate more production. Very nice work though. Do you prefer working in web development more than painting?

I don't want to pay my dues in comics (meaning you have to start with small publishers and work your way up). I would like to paint limited edition prints for marvel or dc, but I think you have to know people to get jobs in these companies.

Magnificent. Please keep painting, it's a waste of your talent not to. Who cares what colour her eyes and hair is!!??!!??

One thing I can think of is that with the Ross work I've seen, he tends to use a certain set of models/facial features that are rather distinctive and tend to resemble each other in some way. (IMO, many of his folks look like they could be related to Ross, especially Supes and WW.)

So maybe that's it?

Why not expand out beyond comics characters, and do stuff like Vallejo and the other artists you mentioned, but with your own choice of characters and settings? Make a name for yourself as an artist, then if you still want to do comics characters too, *then* contact the biggies after you've made a name for yourself, and have a backlog of pro work to show them.

Something to think about. :)

(And remember, Vallejo, Royo and the rest sometimes/often do pics for book covers, magazine features, etc., so there's more variety there than just doing straight art for exhibit and sale.)
