Curious what you all think of this film....I personally love it...one of Jim Carrey's best in my opinion....He does such a good job of being creepy...it makes you feel icky just watching him glom onto poor Matthew Broderick.
I guess it did really bad at the box office, probably because it came right after Ace Ventura....and it was kind of a departure from his style of comedy up to that point.
Watching it right now, and it still cracks me up after all these years.

This is still my favorite Jim Carrey film. The calmness of Matthew Broderick was the near perfect counterpart to Carrey's lunacy.
I enjoy it every time I watch it.

I remember when it came out. Jim Carrey had been on a roll. He'd just done Ace Ventura, The Mask and Batman Forever. All those flicks had mad MEGA BOX OFFICE.
Then he came to , "Cable Guy". And I'm thinking the fanbase who loved Jim as that silly as f-ck guy ..never took to this dark flick. It was more darker and they just never seemed to understand it . The film was one of his best I think. Its just that the main fanbase never crossed over to seeing Carrey play a dark version of himself.

Definitely one of Carrey's best movies.
I appreciate watching the film even more now, seeing actors in the film who were small-time back then (Jack Black, Andy Dick, etc...)

it's a funny one, not Carrey's funniest but still watchable
Definitely one of his best movies. I like him best if he plays roles that aren't entirely over the top. It's when his acting skills become more apparent.

Definitely one of his best comedies, loved it. The basketball scene in particular, also, when Broderick gives him the Speech Therapy tapes............LOL!

The karaoke scene makes my skin crawl....The part where he shows up on the basketball court...."we only met yesterday, but it feels like Ive known him my whole life."
lol
God, this movie just sticks with me after I see it, can't stop laughing to myself at all the weird humor.

It's OK. Carrey's best is "Eternal Sunshine" and "The Truman Show," and this film pales in comparison.

It wouldn't have been considered a failure, really, if it weren't for Carrey's widely-reported 20 million dollar payday for it. He wasn't worth it.
I did love the Medieval Times homage to Kirk vs. Spock.

Did you know it was directed by Ben Stiller?

Still haven't seen Eternal Sunshine, but Cable Guy is just about 47 billion times better than The Truman Show.

I don't know that i loved the movie. I definetely didn't think it ws bad. The best thing was his Jefferson airplane song. I used to have that on my play list.

'We met about a week ago on a routine cable installation, I feel like I've known him my whole life.'
The basketball scene just fascinates me for some reason.
