That Sam is a fast healer. I'm hoping for some good Cannonball/Siryn and Iceman/Angel character beats.
Beast looks like he wants someone else to play doctor now, so he can go kill some Marauders. haha
Oh dear. It looks like Beast had a real hell of a bad day in the infirmary.

Looks like David put to use his new medical skills, never really thougth of that...but I'm not convinced that's a death shot. Looks to me like <sigh of relief and collaspe> "we did it, he's ok" shot. And Surge looks more happy than devastated, like her mistake didn't turn out any worse than it already was.

It's hard to tell with Marvel's stupid low-res previews, but I'm not certain Mercury's crying or if that's her face lines that artists sometimes use. The way it's drawn I can really see it either way "we saved him" or "we lost him".

You are right about the bad resolution, and of course Mercury has probably had enough reason to cry no matter what happened. However, I just can't see Beast collapsing onto the floor unless it was the worst outcome.

If they kill Julian... does that mean that Blindfold was doing a death-list, instead of merely an injury-one? That doesn't make sense...
But that scene at the infirmary, and the one of Emma stalking away from Surge, says to me "repercussions of Surge's big mistake".
I'm a little surprised to see Colossus still standing after what was said happened to him in the last issue... But then, Cannonball's up, so I guess Sinister is boarding the failboat.

Colossus bounced back pretty quickly, i quess emma or chuck fixed him up after the mind raping from Sinister.
Doesn't look good for Nightcrawler, i prefer that he dies over Hellion though

Sadly Nightcrawler has turned into something of a zero in the X-books. I can't recall the last time he did something interesting. Kind of feels like how Colossus had sort of become unimportant before he "died". Northstar too. Kurt could use some re-invention, but I hope he doesn't have to die first.
Now that I think about it, he's one of the few X-Men who's never "died" or gone mysteriously MIA for a long stretch. Stay alive Kurt!

I hope Julian's not dead and that Beast/David/Mercury are only exhausted after saving someone and not b/c they lost someone. From his heyday as leader of the Hellions Squad, Julian has really taken a back seat since being removed as team leader. It would be a shame to just kill him off now. Either way, I really hope Surge gets what's coming to her and gets removed from leadership (and hopefully kicked off the field team). She is simply too emotionally-charged to lead effectively. Better to have someone like David take the reins again, or one of the other former Squad leaders like Anole.

Julian was arrogant from the start, but always determined to be a hero (even though a lot of fans thought he would become a villain). He had the love of an exotic goddess-type, the reigns of a golden team, and was Emma's prized student. He had all of this ripped away from him, he learned humility and humanity, and really grew into a hero.
And now that he's actually suited to lead the team, he just might die (due in part to Surge, who has basically become the old Hellion in attitude, ironically enough).

Well, it really does look like Hellion is for the chop. That hospital scene is clearly not showing three people who've just saved someone. Mercury is practically curled up in the fetal position (and I think that clearly is a tear, rather than her facelines, which were never drawn in #44 anyway), and David's posture is suggestive of having suffered a terrible defeat. If that scene does involve Hellion (which we can only assume it does at this point in time) it seems certain that he must have died.
Further, wasn't it said before the start of MC that Hellion would be important for the story? It's hard to see how he'll be important if he spends the entire arc recovering in the infirmary. However if he dies, that could have some VERY major repercussions for other members of the cast (X-23, Mercury and Surge in particular), as well as possibly influencing the senior X-Men's actions.

I wonder why they haven't tried to contact New Excalibur or the New Warriors?
Well, the New Warriors aren't mutants anymore, so I doubt the X-Men would want them getting tangled up in te latest mutant affairs. Not only that, but no one knows who the New Warriors are (except Wolverine maybe) so the X-Men would have no clue that that are all connected to them.
I don't think anyone wants to bother with New Excalibur. Nocurne would just cry the whole time and probably have another stroke, Dazzler and Pete Wisdom would find some corner and randomly fornicate, Captain Britain would loose his powers in America (at least this time he would, the mythos are never kept clear and concise) and Sage would just be annoying and probably join the Maurders since she has no ability to maintain her own personality these days.

I wonder why they haven't tried to contact New Excalibur or the New Warriors?
Probably because both teams are bad news:
New Warriors because they are working outside the SHRA, and as Swashbuckler pointed out, have no mutants on their team.
New Excalibur because without Juggernaut, they are lame. Especially the femme-bot Sage.

Sage vs. Malice could be an interesting concept actually (if *not* written by Claremont anyway). But really, Excalibur is out of 616 at the moment... they're less accessable now then the Starjammers even, it really does make sense why they're not involved (though seeing Scott, Ororo, Kurt or someone calling London might've been a nice nod... Gage handled it well I thought during WWH).

Agreed. Honestly, with so many x-characters out there we can't expect them all to appear. It would be too much. I will say that the ones who are supposed to be at the institute that aren't shown are somewhat unexcused though, but I think that's just Karma as Magma left with the 198. A lot of other characters can be easily explained. Husk could be looking after her newly mutated brother and pissed off at the X-Men, but who knows what's up with her. She possibly could be the other exception as to who thy should have called in. I can't think of any others really. It's not liek they have Domino on speed dial or anything i'm sure.

I don't think Pulse is at the mansion. I mean, he came with Mystique and she's switched sides and become a tad bit busy. He was hesitant to battle Apocalypse during his one arc that he battled in and I wouldn't be suprised he has just left the mansion without saying anything after that. I mean, Rogue didn't care much for him really, Mystique abandoned him, why would he stick around?

M leads Northstar, Aurora, Karma, and a reformed Gambit on travels around rural France to track a scale-destroying new mutant cheese... "Roqueslide" in his newest body, with Husk annoying the locals by asking for directions (and the location of the nearest McDonalds) whilst talking loudly and flapping her hands madly.

I'd buy issue one!
EDIT: Ignore the menstruation pouring from Cyke's eyes; that was...a mistake.
LOLZ. Yeah, you ain't kiddin' - dating a string of hormonal telepaths takes its toll.
Being serious, I'm starting to get really annoyed at this idea of "streamlining" the X-titles. I was trying not to be reactionary about it, but if they are made so separate, it just means we lose out on so many more characters.

Seriously. And they all almost-kinda match.
Even blonde (BOO!) Bobby has some nice (new?) duds on.
Yeah that is tight. It looks like some kind of new, old X-Factor suit with the large x going across.

Okay, you cancel all the other books now.
This would seriously be the only book I'd have to buy if it were a choice. All its missing is Rogue, which would be like, their first mission.
Hey, look its Toboe in the background!
Unfortunately, Ramos hasn't drawn Sofia or Loa yet, though its not like that stopped with Risque.
LOL I am Hellion now? Excellent work there, Faded. I heart that team! Except I'd take Sofia instead of Siryn, and Darwin must disappear the way Guido did.
Loa and Elixir are probably making out in the Blackbird, anyway.
Yeah, I guess his transformation into a more traditional hero made sense, but it didn't make him more interesting, at least to me. He lost his edge a while back and now he's just all like "don't kill that guy, Laura! You too, Surge! Pretty please?". I miss his old bad boy attitude... but don't let him die!
Yeah, the laundry squad (Karma, Husk, Northstar, Aurora, Pulse) is really the only sore thumb in terms of coverage imo. Too bad though, as I *really* happen to like all those characters. :/
The laundry squad really needs some lovin' soon!

I'd love to have Sage being pwned by Malice, if just to show how bad ass Karima really is.

The difference between Storm and Emma's outfits is that Emma is trying to use sex as a weapon, whereas Storm was cultural comfortable with nudity. Its the different outlook on their own sexuality and bodies that makes more or less tasteful I believe.

After 3 decades your suppose to be pretty much in the swing of what your true character is, I think for a telepath its suppose to be even sooner. lol! She might not be hitting on Wolverine, but a tramp is still a tramp. I mean how do you think she got with Scott?

Well, that's the only eventual outcome I could realistically see, but it'd be a interesting fight to watch considering they're working somewhat similar concepts for opposite ends of the spectrum (Sage being an evolutionary/organic move towards computer like data crunching and parallel processing, while Karima's a baseline with technology artificailly grafted to her system).
Really, I'm a bit surprised Karima hasn't been pwning all the X-Men yet though. She should be spanking mutie ass left and right...

After reading X-Men #205, It could be Nightcrawler that dies and not Hellion in the infirmary scene with Beast, Mercury and Prodigy. Kurt not being in the group shot can somewhat support that theory as well.

Welcome. As for the preview, seeing the new X-Force squad throw down with the Reavers and Deathstrike is going to be awesome! I'm actually more excited about seeing X-23 and Yuriko throw down than I am to see Wolverine fight her yet again. Should be great.

Being with someone and never quite letting go of the other. Insults come to mind.

I'm really worried for Hellion. That panel with Beast, Prodigy, and Mercury does NOT look like a good one. I could see it going either way.
Either way, Surge screwed up. Bigtime. I think the panel with Emma walking away from her is Emma taking away her position as team leader. Which is why its so hard to read Surge's facial expression. She could be relieved but hurt, or happy but worried about Julian. Or maybe Ramos just sucks.
That team shot is awesome though. I just dont like Darwin, but everyone else is awesome! I cant wait to see what that team does! I'm really glad Guido, Siryn and Monet are being used. I thought they were forgotten!

Yeah, I'm starting to think Julian won't make it... Kurt seems in the clear, which leaves him and Megan on Blindfold's scary premonition list. Plus it's the perfect motivation for pushing X-23 into X-Force. :(

is kind of what i predicted, however my theory was that Cyke cowboy's up and does the preaching himself, and not sending his girlfriend to do it. Way to lose points Scott! wait, then again Scott and Wolverine and most of the senior X-Men are fighting Sinister right now, so I guess he couldn't. Still, yeah is Julian dies or is critically injured and I think its more like critically injured than dead, I can't believe Mercury wouldn't be crying if Julian had actually died considering there like brother and sister relationship wise.
Still, Surge gonna take a soul journey and come back all Scott Summers like.

And jhere jcomes jthe jsubjectivity. I find it it awesome. You can hate, but at least he has a distinctive style. Bagley was shit at first too, but he became the standard for Spidey after 12 and for 2 - 12 years.
Yeah, That was TWELVE friggin' years. Eric Larsen could've done the same thing but he went and made his -own- comic. Puss puss. Bitch bitch. No not all times are relative. Nor is the ingenuity. Still, Bagley purloined his version as original and made out with it.
The fact is you can hate, you can bitch, you can disregard. Bagley (as much as I hate Ultimate) influenced ASM more than did the shitty writers of this past decade. Yeah, I said it. And frankly, after OMD, can anyone dispute the writers were less than than lazy turds?
You can hate, but at least he has a distinctive style.
So does Rob Liefeld. Neither of the two seem to have a good grasp on anatomy though. Call me old fashioned but i want an artist to know his anatomy before he starts developing a unique style. I hated that fact on the art academy as well, mind you.
First learn to draw, then develop your own unique style. Picasso is mostly known for his abstract work but he was very good at drawing anatomically correct figures before he started abstracting his artstyle.
When style is used to cover up flaws in basic drawings it annoys me.

Deary me, things deifnately seem to be picking up pace. It's a shame they've colored Monet even lighter than ever and given Bobbster blond hair again but everything else looks pretty good. Oh, except Layla. The only way Ramos can make us see his characters are kids is by giving them saucer-eyes?! Like his Molly in the Runaways pic he did.
