At least Spider-Man 2 made it to the top ten.

The Spider-Man trilogy and the original 90s TMNT should've been in the top ten.

Well, he seemed to make a point of listing the Punisher film from 2004, perhaps indicating he didn't like the straight-to-video Dolph Lundgren version.
And if he knew about that one, then he probably also knew about the straight-to-video releases of Captain America and Fantastic Four, neither of which he listed, either.
Personally, I don't think I'd be able to crack a full "top 10" list for comic book movies.

Conan's not technically a "comic book movie," since the character existed for decades as a series of prose novels before becoming a comic book.
And I'd put the Rocketeer above half the movies on that list.

I recall someone did a 'hottest anime women' thread where they listed like, 200 characters.
It was creepy.

Was girl-type Ranma on the list?
Fantastic Four ever made it to video. I wonder where the Captain America telefilms would land.

The Spider-Man trilogy and the original 90s TMNT should've been in the top ten.
The first 2 spider-Man movies should hvae had no problem getting in the top ten.
It's the third one I wouldn't put money on.
Not that I didn't like the movie, it's just not many people liked it.
AT ALL.

Well i thought the original "Punisher" was ok but felt like a Punisher in-name only movie, now the new Punisher is far more faithful.
Dick Tracy is an underrated 90's gem and without, "Sin City" would never be made.

The point is that everyone has their top comic book movies.
Oh and i forgot to mention "A History of Violence" which is an excellent film btw and i am a fan of Cronenberg.

There needs to an all purpose thread for posting your lists of comic book movies. It seems like we get one of these every other week or so.

Am I the only person who thought History of Violence was very inconsistent? For example, the first long take and the final scene are both haunting touches by Cronenberg, but many of the scenes between those two come off as cliched and uninteresting. I also couldn't tell if the movie was trying to be straightforward or deep. It seemed either too simple or not profound enough to keep my attention.

I'm right there with you. It's a watchable movie, with some really good scenes, but as a film, nah, it's not as great as some people claim.

Yeah, if I didn't exclude animation, "Mask of the Phantasm" would be very high on my list, as would "Akira."

Men in Black, The Phantom and The Rocketeer never get any love on lists like this.
If The Incredibles counted, it would go straight to #1.

1. Batman Begins
2. X2: X-Men United
3. Superman: The Movie
4. Superman Returns
5. Spider-Man 2
6. The Crow
7. Spider-Man
8. Superman 2
9. Men in Black
10. 300
And a special shout out to the end of Spider-Man 3 from the time Topher Grace got the symbiote, to the time he was vaporized by a pumpkin bomb. The rest of the movie with the exception of him, James Franco and Bryce Dallas Howard sucked before and after. But those three and the Venom parts made the movie.

I'd never heard of a Men in Black comic until I started seeing hype for the movie. I saw the movie before I ever saw an issue of the comic. I liked the comic, but I liked most all of the movie's changes better than I liked the original concepts. I think it's the only comic book movie I've ever seen before I read the comic. In fact, I usually forget that it's a comic book adaptation when I'm thinking about lists like these.
I don't demand faithfulness from a comic book movie so much as I require adaptation. The movie has to preserve the things that make a comic worthy of adaptation to begin with, while being bold enough to change the things that can't survive the trip from one medium to another.
It's why I'd say 300 is a much better film than The Hulk or Sin City. The latter two were movies that wanted to look like comic books. 300 was a comic book that wanted to be a movie.

I'd rather watch the old Nicholas Hammond Spider-Man movies from the late 70's than things like Ichi the Killer or Akira. I don't go for the ultra violence, and I hate anime/manga.
I don't think there can ever be a definitive list for something like this.

37?! Oh.. 34.
Actually, saying Ghost in the Shell and taking manga adapations is a can of worms. There's just too damn many to count. Japan's been doing comics 2 film for a long time and does it much more often. Most of the times better. Not always. Grrr.. Death Note. Well, at least there's the animated series.

I really like it up until the the third act and the confrontation between Mortenson and Hurt. I thought the payoff didn't really do justice to the build up.

Batman 1966
Batman 1989
Batman Begins
Batman TAS, Superman, JLA & Batman Beyond
Hellboy, & the animated ones &
Amazing Screw on Head
300
Sin City
The Tick, animated & live

American Splendor
Blade, all three films, but I got 3 used and 1 is still on VHS
Rocketeer, I have on VHS and saw ion thearters really need to get it on DVD
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1
I guess Jay & Silent Bob could count. The comic was out first and they took some of the film from that.
Matrix could count. Certainly Grant Morrison thinks so. Though that also is based on various anime
Then there's anime and Japanese, Chinese and Korean films. Like I said, I'm not going to count those because there's too many.
