*sigh* Seeing Risman still alive after Messiah Complex, I long for the day Wallflower's death is avenged. I was hoping the New X-Men would kill him, or at least severely punish him.
I'll probably pick this up just to hopefully see Risman die on X-Force's, official, first mission.
Looks good anyway.

Warpath looks like a girl. Cut that hair, boy, look like you did in the late 90's X-Force issues... you were hot then. :(
I wonder if Hepzibah and Warpath will remain lovers if they are both on this team. That doesn't seem like a good idea.

Meh... almost. He's whacking people, I guess, with his own hit squad. But I'm not seeing Scott Summers as Scarface, Michael Corleone, or Tony Soprano. He comes off more like he's a black ops director for the government than anything.
I believe Hepzibah was shown in a X-Force cover which would mean she doesn't.
Don't bet your house on it. People are going to die in x-force and it won't just be their targets. In fact because she isn't revealed as a core member when we know at least 2 more characters join the team makes me think she has a big bullseye on her forehead.

Could be, but doesn't the series start during the crossover? They said their mission starts with finding the baby but becomes more complex after the crossover or something like that. I do think she'll stick around longer than the crossover but still .. could happen.

You know, back when Wolverine was first introduced, if you had told someone that down the line Logan would become the protective one who was conscious about other people's psychological states, they would never have believed. The truth is, Logan is much more sensitive and attuned to a person's "humanity" than Scott is, given that he wishes no one to have to go down the dark psychological territory that he had to face. Kudos to Yost/Kyle for playing it up.

X-Force is looking interesting. I was on when Kyle and Yost got announced, and judging by those pages I doubt they'll dissapoint. The art looks fantastic, but I really loathe the masks...
I'm loving the direction they're going with Wolverine. I wonder if he'll ever come to embrace his role as leader of this team, as he seems disgusted by the idea. Seems to be Yost and Kyle's thing for leaders: let it be the one who doesn't want it. Same thing with Surge, right? Look how that turned out...
With Cyclops I'm not so sure. I like his darker edge, but he's going the same path he was condemning Xavier for... it makes a nice situation, but he's surely gonna get some recriminations sometime. Starting with Wolverine, it seems.
X-23 seems extremely comfortable in this kind of situation. As she grew up going on killing mission and nice stuff like that, this is just her natural enviornment, instead of interacting with the other kids, where it seems she always felt like an outsider. I'm concerned as to what this might do to her recently developed humanity. Will she turn into a weapon again, or fight to keep what makes her human? Although it's not like she's ever been concerned about the whole killing business anyway...

I was wondering if setting up his own little spook brigade would come back to haunt Cyclops at some point but I didn't realize it was going to start with the preview pages. It will be interesting to see what the other X-Men, especially Xavier, think about X-Force.
Also, I'm not trying to be contrary but I like the red eyeballs. The consistent costume design makes for a grim variation on the standard issue X-Men outfit colors but all that grey and black is a bit drab. Even if it doesn't make any sense the red eyes helps to liven up costumes that could otherwise fade into the background on a foggy day.

I dont know if it really did start with the preview page. To me that was more of a way to get Wolverine on the team as the leader and for him not be to happy about it.
The funny thing is he doesn't care about Cyclops looking to take people out, he just doesn't think he should be using these kids to do it.

Yeah. Her "what is my mission?" question certainly sounded like her in her two miniseries to date. This is what she's known all her life, and it's what she's comfortable with.
Looks like Logan isn't comfortable with the idea of dragging her back into it, after he spent so long trying to escape from it himself...

If a two-page preview gives off so much tension and good characterisation, I'm totally forking out for this, which given the concept, really surprises me.
I can't wait to see Wolfsbane's moral struggle, it could be some of her best characterisation yet.

Cyclops acting in character would let Logan pick a team instead of choosing a bunch of characters just because they fight with pointy objects.

So I'm guessing you already know why Wolfsbane is on the team? Is it a bad reason? Share it with us. Because even the writers have said that Wolfsbane isn't a killer and would not be indifferent to her teammates killing. They've said there is a specific reason as to why she's on the team.

In fairness the Claw Squad image speaks for itself. This quote from the writers regarding Rahne's having scruples with the team's operation is just a tease to keep us reading to see how it resolves itself. Basically X-Force is a bunch of characters looking 'kewl'.
Wetworks? Antiheroics again? (so 90's)...it just betrays a lack of imagination. After all isn't this the very same logic that was used for Wolverine's inclusion on the Avengers team? And behind the original X-Force (featuring lots of 'badass' guns and claw/sword people)?
Milligan's X-Force presented this cynicism for what it is with his amoral crew of celeb-wannabes. The joke there was we weren't even expected to care what happened to the characters as they died their Kenny-style deaths.

Did I say I had? No I commented on what we have - that image of the characters, which is meant to elicit a response. What on earth is that response?
You ask yourself. It's supose to look cool. So what? I might be alone on that, but I don't think there are a lot of creators out there who want their potencial buyers to think their book wont be exciting or fun.
It still doesn't mean that Wolfsbane wont have a good reason to join the team. It doesn't mean that there wont be good reasons to have that kind of a team after MC. It doesn't mean that it wont be a good book.
You basically dismissed any explanations they could give for Rahne's involvement in the book as irrelevant. We still dont know how she will be handled.

They look like a bunch of Batmans, and why are their eyes red?

it looks interesting, i'm just wondering how many issues till there's a fill in.. also i have a problem with that wolverine/cyclops scene.. if wolverine punched cyclops, he'd be sporting a shattered jaw and have a few less teeth...adamantium knuckles beat ordinary jaw anyday

He probably pulled his punch, as I doubt he really wanted to hurt him. Regardless, this series looks like it's going to be badass.
I'm still waiting for more info on Cable's new book before I add it to my pull-list at my local comic shop, but this one's already on there (and has been since they announced it).:D

I should probably add it to my pull-list as well, since this kind of book looks like a great deal of fun just from those first few pages. At least this way I can read more X-23...

Yes. Yes that's exactly what I did. For the reason stated, for any explanation of Rahne's involvement will be after the fact. The singular goal of the new series will already have been achieved.

I LOVE it.
1st: Whoever the guy is, drawing this, is AWSOME.
(is this the same guy that did some sensational spidey work a while ago?)
Colors are vivid.
This is the kind of dynamic talent that's missing from my titles right now.
cough*BP*cough
2nd: Wolverine in Black ops/ninja uniform has sold this first arc already.
3rd: The masks are FLAME!!!!!! and the uniforms are dope.
4th: Wolverine is in his element here at last. I can't wait to see him be the "good guy" while people like X-23 and Warpath get to be the Hot heads.

I understand they were put together as a tracking squad. They will be working as covert "dirty job" team but lack of variety powers and personality makes for potential boring book. If they running to an psychic mutants ;game over, nobody has any real technical skills so if they ever had to defuse bomb, break in to some sort of high security facality, game over. They run in power house character, Magento, Apocayplse, game over.
Hopefully they add more diverse group of characters because a lot will make scratch your head because they will be a lot of situations where the claw squad should not come out ahead.
If I had make squad I would choose
Wolverine-Logan as leader is something interesting; wolverine has been displayed as a loner and reckless. If I know they have stop display him as wild man but he rarely has to use his intelligence, it would cool to see wolvie use some cunning.
Sage-A lot people on this site don’t seem to like her, her skills and powers are suit for covert operations. She has the infiltration skills, tech skills and a spying background.
Nightcrawler- Teleporter, Bring the moral compass, that rahne is suppose do.
Gambit-I was thinking villain(sabertooth, mystique) or antihero(marrow,X-23) would be like good on aggressive covert type team but then Gambit popped my head would fit the villain part because he betray x-men a couple times and he would bring interesting non trust factor with other teamates. He can play the smooth James bond character and the dynamic with next character would be fun.
Rogue-Should be the powerhouse character that would be bail team out team in tough situations. Would have great inaction with Gambit
Fantomex- He is wild card. You could insert Deadpool in this spot too but deathpool power are two similar to Wolverine and Fantomex bring witty lines if written properly while bring something different to table. He has enough coolness factor, while if he was die would have an impact would not cause uproar.
You can have warpath, wolfsbane, X-23, Calibian rotate in last spot for different missions but those would 6 six I have above would be more versatile and interesting read I think than the claw squad of trackers.
