Close only in the part that they are both grim persons, but killing a woman with his bare hands.Geez, there's no fun in this.Use joker venom or a deadly trap. That's the Joker(at least for me).
Well, in his original appearance he just shot at people with a gun half the time.

What else is there to talk abuot? The story has gone nowhere, there's nothin else particularly redeeming about the book except the art, and all of the other elements are the same things that are usually discussed.
He's rebuilding this orphan kids world, and messing with the Justice League. That's some pretty heavy stuff.

He shot people, but don't forget that in his original appearence he killed 3 people using his Joker venom.

EDIT: Ah, screw it, no matter what I actually say it's going to be taken the wrong way anyway

I've been reading this series since I first got wind of it and love every page of it. I can't help but think, in all, Miller just isn't taking himself seriously for this series, and I'm perfectly okay with it.
I'm not reading this series for the Batman of his eponymous series, or from Detective Comics, I'm reading it for this fellow.
I like this new take on The Joker so far, but I'm withholding judgment on it until I have a better feel for the character in later issues. It's not fair for me to rush to an opinion.

Exactly, I can almost forget what the Hitler Joe Q. is doing to Spidey while reading the sheer awesomeness of ASB&R, not that Joe Q could ever do work as good as Miller or Lee. Right now, all Marvel has that is any good is Iron Man, thank Stan for him. But yes, this Batman ROCKS. He is, as you WOW nerds say, teh pwnsome!

Let's just say that ASBAR has me actually buying a DC comic regularly (or at least as regularly as their production schedule allows) - something i've never, ever done.
Well done.

I've only started reading issues 7 and 8 of Frank Millers Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder. Its very dark and very suggestive. Batman talks a lot not only to himself but others. Its seems that Millar is trying to bring out the more psychotic side of Batman. Right now its focusing on the orgin of Robin and how much Batman hates the Green Lantern. I find it intresting and I would like to know what everyone thinks about it.

I can't say i'm surprised by the absolute crap writing in this series. Frank Miller wrote robocop 3. He's certainly capable of disaster. Only thing is that movie tanked but the comics community worships jim lee.

He didn't, really.

I think Frank Miller's Batman life should be limited to the apocolyptic Dark Knight books he wrote. This series has very little that you can follow and it feels like each issue is "what other new character can I throw into this issue"?
I had such high hopes but to be honest but All Star Batman is just plain terrible.

It's really ironic that Robin is the only real sympathetic person in this comic right now.
to be honest i never really liked him until he grew up right before he became Nightwing.
I think Robin is way better than Nightwing

I like the Joker in The Joker in The Dark Knight movie and stories like Frank Miller's Joker stories, Killing Joke, the first 2 Joker stories, Joker's 5 way revenge, Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum and Batman#663 and Batman Nine Lives Jack
The Joker only smiled two times in DKR and how he acts in DKR like how Joker acts in ASBR now
The Joker here did more to impress me than the real deal has done in a long time. Clowns that dont laugh are frankly clowns that are much more capable of tearing your balls off.
The return of the Nazi heavy from DKR made my day. A great nod to Miller fans.
At least Dick is slowly learning to adapt to Batman's expectations, but falls short each time, from kicks to disguises, to names, Batman finds flaw and Dick has to evolve every hour or two to match what he wants quicker. It's great pacing and shows he can adapt.
Batman's commentary on Hal is, with every DC character made to look like a joke by him, good commentary on how god-like these heroes are and how little they see citizens from countries. Batman is the public protecting his own, and like the public, he makes observations and opinions that reflect what is better for who he relates to.
All-Star Batman is one of the most refreshing interpretations of Batman yet. People who dont "get it" really shouldnt post.

People who dont "get it" really shouldnt post.
Now hold on, that sounds too much like, "People who don't agree with me shouldn't post because my opinion is the only valid one." Anyone is welcome to express an opinion here, as long as they're polite about it.

I'm having a blast with this series. Batman is a crazy hoot. The Joker is really awesome too. Sometimes I think Frank Miller has gone crazy, like he got some disease that only Dr. House and his crack team can diagnose, but I hope he never gets it cured.

I love the series and I will always defend it. I keep saying this from the beginning he's giving us "Ultimate Batman" and I'm the band-wagon that this is a direct lead-in to the DKR-verse. The series isn't over with and if it ends on a flat-note I will be right there to say, "THIS SUCKS!" But I love the Joker in the last issue, he was scary as shit and much more manipulative.

Basically, he's a gangster thug who has sex with women, then kills them for fun, then has his thug female bodyguard who's topless except for swastikas covering her breasts dispose of the body.
...I swear to God, I wish I was making that up.
I barely know where to begin to describe how horribly wrong this portrayal is...
I JUST got around to reading this book (it's not exactly near the top of my read list. And I can tell you if I'd read the post I'm replying to now before I'd read the book I certainly know I'd never believe that even a Frank Miller book would have a Nazi babe with big swastikas over her naked breasts dragging the dead bodies of sluts around for the Joker.

It must be the 'dragging the dead bodies of sluts around for the Joker" bit that upsets you, or else you never read The Dark Knight Returns.

What's so horribly wrong about Miller's take on the Joker?
He's a homicidal maniac, ain't he? Why not take it to a far-out extreme?
