WOW! Was this great. As Cooke winds up his run, he goes out with a penultimate issue that is wall to wall action. The interweaving story threads of Spirit, Ellen and El Morte (with an emotional voice over by The Spirit) keep things at a breakneck pace. And did I mention the best title page yet?
Cooke will be missed, though he told me at the Big apple Con that he is not done with the Spirit.

.......since im a old school old fart , im not sure how i feel about an zombie invasion in central city . sure it looked cool , but i cant imagine eisner going in that direction . hope the next issue involves a worm hole that sends denny colt back to the 40s . then he can fight nazi zombies !!!

AWESOME stuff. I really dig this series, and still have high hopes for after Cooke leaves.

Curiously (given your reactions above) this wasthe first issue of this current series that I didn't enjoy-- I found it choppy, lacking in characterizaton and simply, plain light-hearted fun. I certainly do like that opening page though!
I, too, have hopes for the series post current-team, and really enjoy rereading each of the previous issues.
best wishes,
Matt
