OK, so sell me All Star Superman then! I'm mostly a Marvel guy but I do have a few Superman comics and TPBs in my collection, although the most recent are the three 'Death Of Superman' TPBs.

I've been thinking about picking up a collection of more recent stories but was put off of by a review of the acclaimed Superman For All Seasons I read because it sounded like they turned him into a whiney, self-doubting wimp.

How is The Man Of Steel portrayed in All Star Superman?

I explained it in another thread earlier, but basically it's Silver Age type stuff. Light, campy, all in all pretty good fun. And no angst that's for sure, even given the state Supes is in the entire time (I won't spoil it for you).

I wouldn't call it "campy." I'd describe it as unbound imagination (where literally anything can happen), with both a retro and modern feel. It's a lot like Alan Moore's Supreme.

There you go. I have trouble describing these kinds of things. :p

i enjoyed it because for someone who has never read any other superman stories its really easy to get into and even though there are some referencies to things that must have happened in other stories that i havent read it doesnt feel like it relays on them to move the story along. it was a really fun read.

Hard to say when Vol. 2 will come out, since All-Star Superman is ike a bi-monthly book, say 8 to 10 months between volumes?

I love this book, and can't get enough of it. Quick question for anybody who might know, is the Superman that appears in All Star Batman the same Superman we read in All Star Superman?

What I like about All Star Superman is that Superman is portrayed as a scientist and explorer.

I doubt it. Mainly because the All-Star Batman Supes hasn't shown the ability to fly (yet), and seems to have a very distinct, grittier personality compared to that of the All-Star Superman version.

I think it might have even been confirmed by either Morrison or Miller, but I can't say for sure.

So even with in the All Star universe, there's different "universes" if you will?

I think it's safe to assume so.

It was never established that there was an All Star Universe. All Star is merely the title of the line, where star creators get to work on a character completely unhindered by continuity. So with that in mind, there's no reason to assume any of the All Star books share continuity(which they don't).
