I heard some particularly nasty shite while I was playing Uno on XBox live.
Let me just let that sink in for a moment...
Ok. I might get it if it was Halo 3 or maybe Team Fortress or something really frenetic, but frigigin' UNO.
Yeah, I rarely play online against people, and if I do I tend to mute the game. Also, I am a total newb and usually get my ass handed to me. So, on top of that, I also don't want to be called vile a putrid things. :)
Just hug me when you frag me... Please?

Correction: if you're a gay MALE only play on XBox Live with friends. Men are only too thrilled to play with lesbians.

Hmm...didn't even get through the whole thing. Some people are really assholes when they don't have to face the people they're bashing.

Standard experience, I'm afraid. Even if you're not gay, you're still going to get this stuff. You can limit your chatter, try not to stalk someone too much, keep from camping, etc and so forth, standard courtesy, and still get called every name under the sun, harassed by the same 2-3 players who go out of their way to hunt you down, kill you, taunt your corpse, and then try and hunt down your next spawn.
I left the Saints Row community for awhile because a couple guys were ruining almost every match.

I'm sorry, but I have to admit it. As much as I hate how people talk to players like that, that video was hilarious. I couldn't help but laugh.
It wasn't because he was gay, it was the way these people were talking smack. I mean, really, is especially natural if you're in Mature rated games. As much as they don't have the right to, just remember, this is only a gaming world. You'll hear that everywhere. They taunt gays, kid gamers, female gamers, and noobs. Not so different in the real world. But at least hey, you're behind the monitor, why not fight back?
That's basically what I do in XBL. I'm quiet most of the time, but if they really get on my nerves or if something was fishy, (aka game is laggy) well, you know. I would b**** alot.
WTF, what's the matter with those peopl--nevermind, I forgot I was talking about the good 75% of a$$hole$ on Xbox Live.

But then again, I'm pretty sure that's what white people in Birmingham Alabama back in the 40's would say when a black person walked into their "pure" white stores and restaurants to excuse siccing attack dogs and the fire department on them. Take this example for instance....

I get what your saying. The only problem is people on XBox live make fun of you for everything; especially on Halo. One of my friends is Jerfball. He gets made fun of all the time. Heck my name is Sonicjuce. I get made fun of for that too occasionally. I get the experiment but he truly was asking for it. I mean put dumbboy as your name. I bet the reaction is pretty similar minus the "gay co$k" jokes. I mean one of my friends is a girl. She says anything she gets made fun of (ussually people think she is a pre-puberty boy.. its quite funny). Another one of my friends is Wyoming Gir. He gets made fun of because everyone thinks the Gir is for Girl. I just think this guy unfortunately had it coming.

But seriously, that's a good point as well. Online console gamers in general like to rip on each other's name. It's practically a time-honored tradition among them. Ceremonial hazings can easily fall under the category of "friendly-yet-obnoxious".

I agree, but there definately is a fine line between "ceremonial hazing" and uncalled for bashing. This video you posted, it crosses the line. I get that you're trash talking and all that, but when it leads to crap like that video, it's just brutal.
Actually, I don't really see the need to bash someone for their screen name. I have no problem with a little trash if you're beating this person, but come on. Trash talking because you don't like their screen name? I really think that's un-necessary.

Internet trash talk isn't even in the same ballpark as being lynched.
People talk ---- online, this isn't news to anyone. People make fun of my name, one of my friends goes by "Homeless Joe" and people make fun of his name, etc. So yes, going out of your way to come up with a name that you know is just going to draw negative attention to yourself is going to get results like this. If this was an experiment, it was about as informative as telling me that water's wet

Have you never played a game online? Heck I'll admit I've gotten in fights with my own teammates and me and my friends have brutally ridiculed them for the remainder of the game. It is how online gaming is. The anonymity factor changes peoples whole personality. I have a friend that in the pregame lobby picks a stupid name and just starts ripping on them. It is how online gaming is; especially if your playing a game where you constantly kill each other.

Yeah, I have. And I still think it's pretty brutal. Ripping someone for their choice in name rather than their skill in the game is really, really stupid. I'm sorry, that's just how I feel. But I do agree with you about the anonymity factor; I think it's the main reason people say all that offensive crap. Might be a different story if you had to face the guys, I don't know.

That's the problem with uninformed strangers knowing your business. I've had similar abuse shouted out by little twats on my way to/from work 'cos of them knowing someone who knows someone who knows someone I work with who knows I'm gay..that's unfortunate but there are people like that in the world and there always will be, all you can do is try your best to avoid it...so if you don't want abuse, you certainly don't REFER to yourself as "gay boy" amidst the sort of people who will target you for it. Honestly...

I smiled at a guy once because I thought he was a guy I used to work with and he called me a faggot.
I mean, really, even if the kid's name wasn't xxxgayboyxxx, if it was anything remotely gay like "CuteBoi17", he'd still get ridiculed... it's awful. And I'm sure normal-sounding SNs, like "ChompChewy99" or whatever (LAWL), people will still get made fun of if they have a more flamboyant voice or whatevs. I shudder to think how people would react to me playing Halo 3 with them... all the screaming and whining.

In my brother's experiance they're sore losers and talk alot of crap. That's about it.
In my experiance, depending on the game you're playing, most of them act like, you know, "white boyish".
But other than that, I don't have problems with them. Probably because I'm not a clan member in any game.

This reminds me. I went to a bike shop to get a new tire for my bike, and a guy that works was talking about this guy that's a son of some KKK dude. And that the people there were talking spanish. (Mostly the customer was hispanic so) And when the guy finished, he went to him and asked what he needed, and well, you know what the response pretty much was. >__> He said, Im getting out of this ****ing s*** store. The xbox live people haven't come up with a new insult in ages.
Gay people should stay away from all places that have men ages 18-dead currently, as they will hear the same things in public.
Less it's a parade, most people have tact. You run the risk of people who protest parades though.

I think nerds realize they're below gays on the social hierarchy, so that's why they are always "fag this" and "gay that."

You don't have to be gay to be called a fag on Live. Calling someone that has been a popular way to deride gamers since long before Live, when arcades were the main hub for competition and folks would trash talk face-to-face. It was the same as calling them a pussy, basically.

I hope no one was suggesting that.
I've accidently called gay friends fag before, it's one of those offensive words that hasn't worked it's way up to being a no no in most circles yet.
Make gay marriage legal and then some headway might come.
