There something wierd about Naruto and Sasuke kissing each other in theme song intro. It gross. Anything else about him.

Wow. Sounds like the theme intro was made specifically with the fangirls in mind.

It's not everyday you see slashfic writers have this sort of impact on the canon material.

In which new opening do they kiss? It's not the new one for shippuden at least.

It's not a new opening, it's actually a relatively old oneIt was the 5th opening set near the Save Sasuke arc. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=DUdscG9fZ8U) It was flashing back to their moments as friends and rivals, including that accidental kiss they had in the first episode.

At least if one agrees with the OP.

That is a pretty awesome intro. I love the part with the arm lifting the Konoha headband while showing Sakura and Naruto, only to drop it when it shows Orochimaru and Itachi. :)

What's interesting was that the actual scene was edited out of the episode that it was featured in when it aired on Cartoon Network. Now we see it every week there. CN may be giving Naruto a little bit more leeway than when it first started given its success on Toonami. Most of the edits we see now seem to feature around Tsunade...

I wonder why? Honestly, watching the japanese episodes I can't remember anything to sexual graphic involving her that would require editting? I mean, its not like shes wearing spandex and is jiggling and wiggling everywhere.

But apparently she's still too much for Cartoon Network though. There was a scene in which Konohamaru literally runs into Tsunade for the first time and at his height, he winds up headfirst between her boobs and lingers there for a few seconds. CN replaced the scene with a blinding white flash and skipped right to Konohamaru's outrage at her being the next Hokage.

Violence is okay as long as it's not too gory, but anything remotely risque on Toonami really makes them nervous, IMO...

I remember that scene, but even still it was more endearing than perverse, lol his own comment was something like. "This feels nice!?" it was obvious he wasn't aware of what or who had run into. She even called him a little baby. :D

Yeah, I agree. I kinda think that the Toonami of old--like around '99 or so--probably would have allowed that scene to play out, but there's a different sensibility at CN now.

I've heard that there's been other edits featuring Tsunade. Some of the edits have been minor cuts to shorten any lingering shots of Tsunade's bustline here and there, but this is just second-hand info I picked up so I'm not 100% sure if they're true or not.

Still, it could be worse, I guess...

It doesn't have anything to do with Toonami per se...its just the classic American Double Standard. We're fine with litting our kids see a man get his brains blown out by a cannon on television, but the moment we see a completely natural nipple grace the screen, we're up in arms calling the networks.

America's public is still extremely puritanical about Sex. Therefore, all Tv networks, CN included, will always be more nervous about anything that could even remotely be interpreted as sexual, no matter how comfortable they get with death, blood, and gore.

I agree, but I simply call it Toonami really caving in to that double standard. Having watched Toonami (and Cartoon Network in general) in the past, it just seems like it's become increasingly conservative over the years (but there may be other factors in work there, though).

Yep, quoted for truth.

I remember the black digital "bathing suits" that always appeared whenever any of the girls in Tenchi were in the hot springs on CN. That kind of squeamish policy US broadcasters have towards brief nudity or even implied nudity is nothing new.

Meanwhile, primetime hits like CSI and its various spinoffs do sometimes show a surprising amount of gore that probably would have been considered "R-rated" not that terribly long ago. Feature a large-breasted woman in a low-cut top and suddenly everybody's horrified...

Well i think toonami sucks on editing stuff, no wonder it takes such a long time to see the cartoons here in the usa, since we have to be all uptight and anal about little things that they would show in the japanese version, so you saw sauske and naruto kissing in the intro, big f#$@ deal, get over it, don't get all offended and be a bi#$% about it.

I seriously find watching anime on (unless its adult swim or late night) during the day to be crappy and take away from its original goodness. So there, you been told, get over it, so you saw them kiss, did it cause the world to blow up, no it didn't.

You don't have a right to tell other people what to like, and what not to like, sir.

Did it cause the world to blow up for you to watch the North American version of the intro with the kiss edited out? No, it didn't.

So... you haven't "told" anybody, sir.

What's lost by taking an accidental yaoi kiss scene out of the intro? What's lost by editing out some sexual comedy?

Are either of the above in any way, shape, or form important to the broader plot, mood, and tone of Naruto?

I know some female anime fans that take exception to what could be considered an overabundance of ecchi, panty flashes, and reliance on sexual situational comedy. They feel that it's degrading to women, and I can see where they're coming from.

In an age of virtually limitless access to hentai and porn, you honestly care if some sexual situations, and accidental kisses, get edited out? A lot of that was there for lowbrow shock value/titilation, and nothing more, to begin with.

If it means that much to you, Heaven knows that you can find it somewhere on the internet.

Actually, the toonami edits to Naruto are very light. So far the only things they've done are reduce the amount of blood, omitted cursing (except for the occasional and conventional use of the word hell and they say "crap") and 'certain' lesser scenes pertaining to Tsunade's cleavage. Other than that, there's no actual merit to your complaints. Has it drastically altered the plot? No. misinterpreted or misrepresented characters, interactions or events that deviate from the original in any significant fashion? No. Trust me, It could've been much, much worse. I can easily point you in the direction of 4kids' One Piece(hell, ANY 4kids dub).

If you don't like the reasonable edits found in Naruto, then why don't you either get the uncut DVDs, or y'know, just don't watch it and save yourself the trouble. So, if you don't mind, please stow away your overly pretentious attitude and kindly abstain from operating under the belief that your opinion is all the matters when you decide to just stumble into a topic and callously tell people off.

Thank you and Good Night.
