How important is the joker?

Why do you think that he knows anything? Nothing so far has had involvement by him at all. Even IC only had him in a minute role.

Well, Countdown 50 gave us a hint he knows or suspects something about the big picture.

he talks about there being a big plot in #50, so i suspect he is in on something, plus he is in the teaser poster

what role are you referring to in IC?

all i remember him doing in IC was not being invited to Lex Luthor's Society

Hiding in an alley in Gotham City and making new plans, Alexander Luthor is found by Lex Luthor and the Joker. Angry at being left out of the Society, the Joker kills Alex. so joker and Lex are buddies now. the prolly have stuff planned

And though Lex more or less stood back and watched, Infinite Crisis did succeed in reminding us that the Joker is, once and for all, the Clown Prince of Crime. I'll be on the look out for the Joker's next apperance, and I hope the writers make the most of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a big part in Final Crisis, especially with someone like Grant Morrison writing it who seems to do a fantastic job with the Joker.

Don't forget that Salvation Run is being touted as a major lead in to Final Crisis and the Joker has a major part in that.

I don't know what kind of huge role The Joker could play, maybe as a new Darkseid if he bites the big one.

Although it would have nice to see HOW did he find them in the first place...

Yup.

I'm sure The Joker will play a significant role in the upcoming Final Crisis, considering the said chess board figure/his words from Countdown #50/involvment in Salvation Run. But exactly how large of a role, is anyone's guess right now.

I think it'll be a bigger role than we think. Remember the second Countdown "villains" double-page ad? Joker is featured prominently.
