Has Legacy earned it's place as the best SW comic? Knights of the Old Republic can't keep up with this book and any other previous Dark Horse SW titles seem lifeless next to this book.

Any thoughts?

It is very refreshing. It makes me want to get back into the EU after a few years out of it, but then I wouldn't have enough time to read Marvel, Image, and DC. I have the first TPB of Legacy and was blown away. I have also read most of the singles after issue 6 and was equally impressed.

So far I'm ok with Cade basicaly playing the role of a Han Solo with a lightsabre. I dig the new sith and how the jedi are viewed thru sith and imperial knight perspectives. Each issue has me wanting more and more.

what I like so much about legacy is so good even without the star wars back drop. Then you throw it in that universe and it is just amazing

It's the most disappointing SW comic of all time, if you ask me. John Ostrander and Jan Duursema are top-notch creators and all they've done here is take everything that made Star Wars Star Wars and leave it behind. No sense of fun or adventure. Just some Han Solo/Luke Skywalker hybrid who's more asshole than hero and a bunch of Sith who look like rejects from a He-Man cartoon or a GWAR concert.

That's pretty funny. I don't think Legacy left anything behind, it's still a young series and there's lots to yet be referenced or revisited. as for Cade, yeah he's and asshole, but isn't that what we all loved about Han Solo? I don't really see the Sith as all that bad either. And as for the sense of adventure, come on! You have the sytory of the Sith and their leader's problem, The story of the remaining Jedi and their fight for survival, the story of the Imperial Knights and their duty to protect the true Emperor, and Cade's story and how he's now in Sith training.

What does Kinghts of the Old Republic offer that's as exciting as that. I understand that there is going to be a cross-over of sorts between these two books, perhaps that will give us all an extra boost of adventure. Maybe Cade Skywalker will "time walk" to the old republic.

I really miss the Adam Hughes covers that Legacy had too.

I was very sceptical when I first heard of it but it's been excellent so far, up there with Ostrander's best work.

I love that it's so different from Star Wars since a fresh slant on the universe was really needed, not another "idealistic youth comes good" story. All the political machinations are fascinating and everyone in the book feels like a real character with real motivations, not just a cardboard cut-out. Cade is nothing like Han Solo though. Han was an indifferent bounty-hunter, Cade is more of a disappointed cynic.

It's Star Wars for grown-ups.

Likeable characters.

A goofball Padawan and a Hogman? I'll stick with Legacy's lesser characters anyday.

Legacy is an ok series, a good read. Best Star Wars series ever? Hardly.

A good Star Wars story has to have characters you actually care about. I personally don't give one whit what Cade decides to do with his life. I've yet to see a reason to care beyond the fact that he is a distant relative of Luke Skywalker.

Knights of the Old Republic and Legacy appeal to different audiences, although they're set in the same universe. In a way, they're literally different as night and day. KotOR is more light-hearted and perhaps is closer in tone to the swashbucking adventure of the original trilogy of films. Legacy, on the other hand, is darker, grittier, and more plot/character-driven--and it also has the benefit of an overall storyline that no one knows the general outcome of except Ostrander. Each issue unravels a little bit more of the supposed future of the Star Wars Universe, while KotOR explores the distant past.

I collect both KotOR and Legacy and think they're both good reads. Zayne Carrick intrigues me because there's lots of rumors floating around about him--ranging from that he really will bring about the return of the Sith in his time to that he could even be the progenitor of the Skywalker clan. Cade Skywalker, on the other hand, could indeed turn into either a hero or a villain--the Skywalker line might end with him, for all we know...

I would be surprised if they ever ended the Skywalker line. But I agree with your statements about KotOR and Legacy. They are both good series but for very different reasons. I have the first trade of Legacy and have read it twice. Very fun read with a totally different tone from everything else in the EU right now (except the novels). It's dark, gritty, and exciting because the ending is not known yet. Everyone was going crazy theorizing who Darth Krayt was. KotOR has two trades out right now and I have read both, too. I think it resembles the original trilogy in attitude and spunk, so naturally, I enjoy that series too. Two very different series alltogether.

I don't know about all time, because I really like the Tales of the Jedi series, but it does rank up there. I like the original characters and the ones that have returned, and the story has been top notch.

I think that the Ostrander/Duursema creative team is probably one of the best of all time. As for the story, I'm not so sure about that. I still have great affinity for the old Marvel series - especially the issues in the 50s~60s which had Archie Goodwin (or was it David Michilinie?) writing with Walt Simonson on art.

I stopped reading KOTOR at #14, what issue is it currently at and has any significant development happened worth reading?

THERE BE SPOILERS HERE...

It's currently at #22. The war between the Old Republic and the Mandalorians has really escalated and things actually aren't looking too good for the Republic right now. A doomsday plot to use a swarm of the giant space slugs that the Millennium Falcon unwittingly flew into in the Empire Strikes Back [Episode V] was uncovered, Zayne and his former master were reluctantly forced to work together against a common enemy, and a member of the Last Resort crew made a heroic sacrifice.

As things currently stand, Zayne is on his way back to Taris where his initial flight from the Jedi began--and there are friends and foes alike eagerly awaiting his return...

Rebellion and Dark Times are better on so many levels than those two titles. Especially Rebellion. That is probably one of the best SW comics I have ever read. Vader is also pre-prequel Vader here. A must read.

Rebellion moved too slow for me, I also didn't care for the characters as much.

SW: Empire and SW: Republic were great reads as well, I just see Legacy as refreshing as hell.

"Rebellion" is sort of "Empire" with a different title, more or less; "Dark Times" is coming out slowly but it's had an interesting couple of storylines. The current arc sort of focuses on K'ruhkk, who is also in LEGACY.
