Well, this is pretty straight forward. Everyone always has a character or a team they want to see get a series, but what if you could pick five characters or teams to get their own on-going! Who would you pick?

Cosmic Powers Unlimited: A roatating series featuring stories about the cosmic characters in the marvel Universe
Dr. Doom: There's just soooo much that could be done with this character, outside of his involvement with the Fantastic Four.
The Champions: A team created by Hercules? Featuing Ghostrider, Black Widow and Iceman? There is NO reason why a team like this should exist. PERFECT!
Morbius: The poor guy has never had the chance to really live up to his potential
The original Death's Head: I miss his quirky adventures.

Supervillian Team-Up

Supervillian Team-Up returns, with the mighty MODOK as it's anchor! More elaborate plots! More devilish dementia! More world-dominating fun! Agents of SHEILD

The ongoing story of the many, many, many operations SHEILD carries out on any given day. From apprehending rouge superheroes, to taking down super-criminals, to fighting the hordes of HYDRA or AIM, SHEILD special agents Natasha Romanoff, Clay Quartermain, Allegra di Fontaine, Dum-Dum Dugan, Daisy Johnson and a whole horde of new SHEILD agents show us the day to day in the most powerful spy agency in the Marvel U. 5. Quake
Seriously? Those 5 ongoings have no chance of surviving in the current market.
Lets drop 5 first
Heroes for Hire
Wolverine: Origins
Classic Avengers
She-Hulk
Exiles
My picks are based on books that have a chance of surviving and finding fans.
1) Dr. Strange
2) Silver Surfer
3) "Cosmic Team Book"
4) The Sentry
5) Namor- King of Atlantis
6) Spider-woman
I also like the idea of a SHIELD book, and I've presented a HYDRA book on these boards before, where we follow a group of recruits and see which ones have what it takes to be a mover within Hydra

There's a few minis id like to see.
Agents of SWORD.
Bursting out of the pages of Astonishing X-Men! Agent Brand, a hard nosed, passionate and non-compromising defender of Earth on an intergalactic scale. Leading an army of human and alien soliders from their orbitting satelite the Peak isn't easy but as she said herself while SHIELD's busy with earth 'somebody has to look after the others', with a little help from her A-squad Brand confronts all manner of cosmic foes and alien threats:
Sydren, large reptillian/bug like alien creature, show to be able to smell the emotions of others, however with his dry wit and aloof attitude it seems bizzare that he would help anyone out of the kindness of his heart (or hearts) so why does he hold such a debt to Abigail Brand?
Jackson Deems (the first name is invented) Brand's right hand man, with nothing but a sensible and grounded attituded Agent Deems provides the human Ying to Brand's cynical Yang. Jackson has fought at Brand's side through most of her battles and whilst she is prone to anger and tempestuousness Jackson is always calm and considered.
Fiz, a mutant skrull with the abbility to change his size to almost giant proportions Fiz was a founding member of Charles Xavier's group Cadre K. Brand knows that the Skrulls represent a huge threat to Earth and as such who better to have on her team that one of their own, a person who has stood against his own empire due to their barbaric genocide of mutant skrulls. Fiz is in many ways still a rookie and very child like in his attitudes, every foray into space is an adventure and every person good until proven otherwise.
Danger, the robotic sentient being has spent nearly a decade of her life imprisoned in torturous conditions, now free of the X-Men and her desire to kill them Danger needs to find her own place in the universe, she feels neither Shi`ar nor earthling and so seeks a new home amongst the various Aliens of the Peak. Her cold logic and brutishness mask a newly born vulnerability and a sturggle to understand emotions.
Lockheed, the agent chooses to spend some time away from Kitty Pryde after their mutual trust is broken, instead he adopts the vulnerable Fiz as his friend.
Oooo... I like the idea of a HYDRA book. That's another one Rucka, Brubaker or even Warren Ellis could really do well.
Yeah, there are so many possibilities with a hydra book. They touch all corners of the Marvel Universe. The writer can go mystical, sci-fi, espionage, explore the family relationships (My Dad's a Hydra Agent!). On top of all that, you have all that history. Its also ripe for new villains. What if a group of recruits got super-powers?

The Champions: A team created by Hercules? Featuing Ghostrider, Black Widow and Iceman? There is NO reason why a team like this should exist. PERFECT!
.
There's one good reason why this team can't exist - unfortunately, Marvel's lost the rights to the name. Hence "The Order", which was orginally supposed to be the Champions. Also, no more Champions Classic re-prints. Sorry.
Five books I'd like to see:
1). I agree with you about Dr. Doom. I'd like to see Vaughan or Warren Ellis writing this.
2). GLI by Dan Slott.
3). Bring back Young Avengers!!! Hainberg can't possible be busy now, what with the strike and all.
4). Dr. Strange by Vaughan.
5). MODOK's Eleven as an ongoing series. Every new storyarc, a new team of D-list villians is selected by MODOK for an elaborate and dangerous mission...

1. Daughters of The Dragon---- Now that Heroes For Hire is no more, a buddy book is certainly needed. It could be one part mystery, one part adventure with superheroics. It will have exotic locales, a quirky supporting cast and terrifying villians. I picture the series delving more into Misty and Colleen's background.
2. Nick Fury--- I know Bendis has plans for him, but I picture an ongoing series of Fury as an outcast intelligence agent, WWII Vet and former Director of SHIELD trying to find his place in the world amidst shady government operatives, terrorists, corporations, bankers, dictators, politicians and beautiful women. It would be a spy book mixed in with political satire.
3. Legion of Monsters---- This would be an unofficial team monsterous freaks who due to their appearance are misunderstood by the humans they sworn to protect. Watch as they battle the forces of evil and cope with prejudice and persecution. Society shuns them, but they're determined to use their strange abilities for the good of all mankind. They don't have no one but each other. I see the series as one part Doom Patrol, one part X-Men and the rest Avengers.
4. Shang Chi--- I know Marvel doesn't have the rights to Fu Manchu but I like Hudlin's idea of naming him Mr. Han. Let "Han" once again be the major threat in the Marvel Universe.
5. Cage---- It's way past due for Luke Cage to have his own title. Get with the program, Marvel!

1) The Midnight Sons: a book featuring Werewolf by Night, Ghost Rider, Blade, The Shivers Man, Danny Ketch (with the Hellfire gun), Terror Inc., and maybe a couple of the characters from the "Howling commandos series. Guest Appearances by the Darkhold Redeemers, Cloak & Dagger, Moon Knight, Hannibal King, and Dr. Strange. Mark Texeira would be a good choice to do the art.
2) Darkhawk: I'd like it if someone put the "Dark" back in "Darkhawk". Remember how gritty the first couple of issues of the series were when Hobgoblin and Ghost Rider were making appearances? I'd like to see him hunting down monsters...and maybe have a few run-ins with the Midnight Sons listed above.
3) Ares: God of War: Oeming would def have to be involved. I'd also like to see if there is some hidden relationship between Ares and Wolverine. In Greek Mythology, Romulus was a spawn of Ares, and Romulus is somehow connected to Wolverine, so that would be interesting to explore. I know I know, that Arc in Wolverine was horrible, but now that the character of Romulus is established in the universe, let's see if something interesting can be done with him.
4)The Sentry:: He's supposed to be Marvel's Superman...he should def have A-list treatment. I liked the first ish of his last mini...but it got a little confusing towards the last issues. Have him interact with all the A-list heroes and villains, and really establish him in the MU.
5)I'd really like to see another Marvel Team-Up book with rotating talent based on the whatever characters were guest-starring. Like BKV would write a Dr. Strange/Silver Surfer arc, and if a bunch of quirky characters were teaming in an arc, like the "League of Losers", of course Kirkman would have to write it. How about Ares/Wolverine by Oeming and Finch! That would be awesome. The book would also feature writing combos like Fraction/Brubaker, Bendis/Reed, Guggenheim/Whedon, SLot/Kirkman...with art by Silvestri, Cheung, Finch, Leinil Yu, Cassady, etc. With talent like that, I don't think the book would ever get stale...and the creators would be free to just create the stories and team-ups that everyone wants to see! How about Moon Knight/Sentry...I think that would be really interesting since you have the Batman/Superman comparison, and they're both crazy lol.

It's an idea, but I think you'd be better off establishing how he WAS an A-list hero but isn't anymore. Show flashback "untold tales" where he's featured in more super heroic silver age type stories and then show the wreck of a character we have now.

1) Quasar- Phyla is a young woman grown out of a test tube, raised in a virtual world, trained to be the greatest hero in the universe, the successor of two heroic and legendary legacies, and she's dating a borderline nutcase and has daddy, mommy, and brother issues. Oh, and she's a Kree. This kind of stuff writes itself, and she's a great character who can really shine if Marvel gave her this chance.
2) Cloak & Dagger- Perhaps the model street characters and the perfect duo. They live on the streets, work on the streets, are the streets. Alone, they're kinda average characters. Together, they are an amazing partnership, two characters literally made for each other. I would start by finding all the safe places for them, and the homes they could go to, all the people they can be with, and burn it all. Force them to live on the streets and only the streets, and show just how intensely they need each other.
3) Gambit- The first thing, and the most important thing, they have to do with this character is get him the Hell away from anything X-Men, and keep Rogue at least 200 miles away from him at all times. After that, let him revel in his thief ways; make him Marvel's Robin Hood, stealing from the bad guys to help the little guys. And make him an explorer like Indiana Jones, have him search for treasure in far away and exotic places. Play up the rogue aspect of him, let him mingle with small time villains, even dealing with them to bring down the big guns. And ditch the color pink.
4) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.- As comics have shown us time and time again, there's plenty of A-List characters working for S.H.I.E.L.D. From the feisty female agents to battle harden war vets, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a virtual character factory, pumping out idea after idea. I think it's time to see what the world's foremost spy agency can do.
5) What if?- So many ideas, so little of them printed! What if? could be a writer's sandbox, letting them retell events in the way they think it should have gone down in a consequence free environment. Let them go nuts, kill off any and everyone, retool history, take characters in bold new directions and blow up the universe time and time again. What if?s have the possibility to be some of the wildest and most brutal stories in all of comics; why not have a new one each month?

Dr. Strange: If any Marvel character needs an ongoing, it's Strange. Vaughan & Marcos did a good job, but I'd honestly settle for any decent creative team on a Strange ongoing.
Agents of Atlas: Marvel's most underrated series of the last couple of years. Parker has set this team up nicely, and they deserve at least another miniseries.
Defenders: Such a simple, cool concept. Plenty of opportunity to spotlight lesser known characters and develop new ones.
Young Avengers: Look, Alan Heinberg's never coming back. I think it's time to just accept it and move on. These are interesting characters in their own right, and it's time they got an ongoing series that's actually ongoing. Find a new writer and get the ball rolling.

The Sentry, as someone who hates Superman with a passion, I'm almost ashamed at how much he's grown on me as a sort of psychotic blonde Marvel counterpart.

I'm with you on the first 3.
Quasar (Wendell Vaughn) really needs an ongoing to explore just what it means to be Protector of the Universe out in the Universe. The core of his character is how he can best serve life in the Universe with the tremendous amount of power at his command...besides, I'd love to see a one-on-one rematch with Annihilus where he handily defeats him.
I'd also add...
#4 Agents of Atlas
#5 Hawkeye blissfully ignoring everything that Bendis has done to him.
I"d also like to see Phylla in an ongoing, just not as Quasar with the Quantum-Bands.

The Defenders - This would kill two birds with one stone by quenching the thirst for a monthly Silver Surfer and a monthly Doctor Strange. Throw in the likes of Valkyrie, Gargoyle, etc.
Star-Lord's rag-tag group from the recent mini-series. The tone of the book was a bit too droll and pleased-with-itself for my tastes, but any concept involving Micronauts' Bug and Rocket Raccoon has potential out the ass.

Cloak & Dagger - I wouldn´t split them up, I´ve always liked the two together.

I´d really love to se a mistery/magic-oriented Birds of Prey type setup centered around Clea.

Why DOESN'T he have his own series? # 9 most popular Marvel Character on the Comics Should Be Good poll, beating out Cyclops, Iron Man, Doc Strange, 3/4ths of the Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer and Squirrel Girl.
The Defenders - This would kill two birds with one stone by quenching the thirst for a monthly Silver Surfer and a monthly Doctor Strange. Throw in the likes of Valkyrie, Gargoyle, etc.

It's bound to be interesting to get all of these superheroines together to shoot a calender for The Stamford Foundation, or something like that. I just have one-
1- Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch. Quicksilver finds out from Hawkeye that his sister is still alive and where she is. This shakes him a bit out of his odd Peter David scripted crazy. He tracks her down and the two of them set off on a series of on the road/on the run adventures. Things get even crazier when Wanda discovers that she is pregnant with Hawkeye's baby. I would use this series to explore Wiccan and Speed's connection to Wanda.

Im not sure how likely marvel would approve brother/sister incest (unless a max print adult theme with other characters who are similar to them). I think it be a better idea to make hawkeye the father or iron man(cause they made him look like a real basterd in civil war).
my choices would be, in no particular order
1. Apolocalypse
2. Quicksilver/wanda
3. Deadpool
4. Sally/ben (the reporters from house of m, and civil war, i think sally's house of m was one of the best books if not the best in the house of m series, civil war story that followed her and ben were great too)

Cosmic Avengers - a team of high level Avengers/Cosmic characters that get involved in galaxy spanning storylines featuring the likes of Nova, Quasar (Wendall Vaughn), Kismet, Moondragon, Jack of Hearts, Beta Ray Bill, Captain Marvel, Phylla, Adam Warlock, Firelord, Air Walker, Midnight Sun etc...
Silver Sable and the Wild Pack - a mercenary team with a rotating roster of Marvel characters (some with regular appearances and team connections) that crossover with all facets of the Marvel U, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. Featuring Silver Sable, Paladin, Le Peregrine, Constrictor, Taskmaster, Killer Shrike, Ant-Man, American Eagle, Solo, Deathlok, Shamrock etc...
Hellstorm - a return to the mainstream Marvel U and a perfect book to accompany Ghost Rider as well as an opportunity to bring more attention to Satana. Featuring Hellstorm, Satana, Jennifer Kale, Sister Grim, Man-Thing etc....
Inhumans - it's time for the royal family to not only get a regular series, but a writer who can handle this group for more than 12 issues without running out of gas. Featuring Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, Maximus, Crystal etc....
Rangers - it's the team from America's southwest. Currently following the Iniative, all is not well in this camp as this neo-phyte team comes to terms with not only itself but what the world has to offer. But why would they need to get together? They don't really have anything in common with each other except for the fact they are all "cosmic" characters. They may as well be the "Black Avengers" or something who have nothing in common with each other except for the fact they're all black people.

I'd be down for this. Like always, I'm likely going to be the minority in this opinion, but I prefer the Inhumans in some sort of "costumed" appearance. I don't really go for the Pict-like body tattooing stuff. Black Bolt and Karnak had two of the best costumes in the MU....in my always humble opinion, of course.
Rangers - it's the team from America's southwest. HoM Avengers? Luke Cage, Tigra, Iron Fist, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, possibly Cloak (my favorite character), and....Hobie Brown?
But why would they need to get together? They don't really have anything in common with each other except for the fact they are all "sapiens". They may as well be the "Black Avengers" or something who have nothing in common with each other except for the fact they're all black people.

And to answer your question as to 'why'. This was the question posed...does not say why...it's all about personal choice and preference. Nothing more...nothing less.
Well, this is pretty straight forward. Everyone always has a character or a team they want to see get a series, but what if you could pick five characters or teams to get their own on-going! Who would you pick?
As for the 'Black Avengers' which you seem to be touting for some odd reason - read the Crew or Milestone Comics. Both had some excellent storylines but sadly could not support sales long term.

Perfectly good explanation. I'll accept that. However, such an explanation never worked in my case or in the case of any poster like me who ever suggested that a team made up of characters like Black Panther, Storm, Cloak, Sunspot, Debri, Vibraxas...for example, would be a good idea. I once suggested that a nice romantic coupling would be Bishop and Monica Rambeau. And do you know what the responses to those idea suggestions were?
But why would they need to get together?
They don't really have anything in common with each other except for the fact they are all/or both, black characters.
I don't have a problem with any of your ideas. I think they're interesting. But once again, those teams featured characters of like powers, like backgrounds, etc... as did my idea for a Black Avengers.
I hope I've cleared that up.

Well, it looks like it's time for another "DaeJi points out why you're wrong about everything" session!
Nearly all the cosmic characters already know each other and constantly have to unite against universe killing threats, such as the Annihilation Wave (which featured a good sized chunk of them). Mercenaries do jobs for money. As long as they get paid enough, they'll work with anyone. Demonic characters also tend to know each other, since their powers draw them to each other. And the Rangers are all ready a team.
Hey, if you have an idea for a "Black" Avengers team and want to post it, be my guess.

The Rangers are already a team thanks to the Initiative. They have also teamed up before, when they accidently heard a distress call for the Avengers. And in wake of CW, they were given Texas as their state.

Okay then, inspired by the "Rangers" and their geographic connection to each other, sinjection productions gives you:
The Wakandan Five
Not to be confused with the Jackson Five.
Members:
Black Panther - co-leader and the "brains" of the team.
Storm - co-leader and the battlefield tactics coordinator of the team. Also provides air support and long-range strike capabilities.
Nezhno - the muscle of the team. Nezhno is cured of what ails him and is able to become as powerful as he needs or as he wants to be.
Queen Divine Justice - The Queen does what she does.
Vibraxis - master of the vibranium vibratory force.
Vibraxis and Queen Divine Justice also gives the team an unmarried, younger couple to provide a different type of romantic angle than that enjoyed by the Wakandan Royals.
During their battles, perhaps the W5 could encounter Bishop and Monica Rambeau, still perturbed with one another but oh, so attracted to each other as well. The spice of passion could be interjected into the Storm/Panther relationship as these "old married folk" work "behind the scenes" to lead Bishop and Monica along that twisting, turning road to the "love where they belong".
And during all of this, the W5 - with guest appearances from other black Marvel characters to promote and enhance interaction between Marvel's black characters....hell, throw Angela Del Toro in there too. The White Tiger is welcome in Black Panther territory - will engage in some of the most eye-popping, energetic and entertaining stories and battles ever seen.

Nezhno - the muscle of the team. Nezhno is cured of what ails him and is able to become as powerful as he needs or as he wants to be.
Queen Divine Justice - The Queen does what she does.
Vibraxis - master of the vibranium vibratory force.
With the addition of that lovely character whose name I ALWAYS forget. Yaw, if you read this, I'm sure you can remind me of who she is. She was a mutant who possessed a third eye in the middle of her forehead. I forget what African nation she hailed from, but I do remember she might have encountered one of the x-men. Add her to the "African Avengers" team.
The writer for the book should be Dwayne McDuffie, Christopher Priest, or Reginald Hudlin. The artist should be the very excellent Oliver Coipel.
Also, there was a thread - now deleted of course - discussing black male mutants and I believe it was Monte_Cristo who discovered a very interesting black male mutant whose parents - beside themselves with worry - took their child to Reed Richards for evaluation. This boy had the power to create solid duplicates of other characters with his mind and could cause these duplicates to battle their originals. What was that guy's name?
He should be "re-powered".

Not to worry Jackob. It's all good. Ororo and the little Queen are very good friends. In fact, during Christopher Priest's Panther run, Ororo, the Queen and a tiny newborn infant child in their care, all went flying together. All were nude because Ororo enjoys being free and unencumbered when she feels safe in her African home.
but i dont see nez leaving his new xmen comrades
wanna borrow my spectacles? You might be able to see more clearly then :)
but it might be posible with a royal request.
Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of a catastrophic, cataclysmic event which so seriously threatens the very survival of his Wakandan homeland, that Nezhno is hellbent to return to Wakanda to be of assistance to his people and the x-men be damned. I believe Vibraxis - when last seen - was in Texas somewhere. He is estranged from his King. I could see Vibraxis reacting like Nezhno, reconciling with T'Challa and finally, reuniting with his true love, Queen Divine Justice. The team would then confront the horror that threatens Almighty Wakanda.
I also want to add one more African mutant to the team, but I can't remember her name to save my life. But take my word for it. She's cool. And although she has three eyes, the woman is FINE!

I've recently discovered that story. Frustrated by the erratic availability of Supreme Power Nighthawk, I stopped buying the book and apparently, missed out on a lot of very interesting developments, many of which the very type of thing you, myself and some others have been posting about wanting to see more of in the 616 U, by ignoring books like Supreme Power.
When I discovered that there was a team of African superheroes who told the mighty Hyperion and his Squadron Supreme that they were to consider Africa off-limits to them, I thought..."Why the hell haven't I been buying that book?"
I've learned an expensive lesson it seems, because I'm going to try to find and purchase all of those books if those books haven't already been compiled in paperback form.

In fact, during Christopher Priest's Panther run, Ororo, the Queen and a tiny newborn infant child in their care, all went flying together. All were nude because Ororo enjoys being free and unencumbered when she feels safe in her African home.
wanna borrow my spectacles? You might be able to see more clearly then :)
She's cool. And although she has three eyes, the woman is FINE!

that does seem like a good premise, sort of like the avengers founding where one of them cant do it alone. but i dont think that nez and BP are estranged seeing as the x-men and wakanda have strong ties through the marriage of bp and storm. i think that they would let him go, and even offer to help, but nez would say that it is not there place.

No, no, no Jackob. I didn't say that Nezhno was estranged from his King, at least I don't believe I posted that. I posted that the character Vibraxis is estranged from his King.
If the x-men went to Wakanda and helped, it would defeat the purpose of the "Wakandan 5" + that one lovely 3-eyed mutant female character. I'm thinking she was from Rwanda or someplace like that.

I noted that. I think that scenario puts Nezhno is sort of a bad light. If Wakanda was in as dire distress as I envision it would be - a circumstance requiring superhuman (if not divine), intervention - Nezhno would look like a buffoon and an arrogant boor to turn down superhuman help from any quarter.
I see Nezhno slipping away in secret, without any x-men being aware of his departure. I see Vibraxis possibly hitching a ride with either Bishop or Monica Rambeau, both of whom are friends with Storm and the Black Panther respectively, and would making their way to render their unsolicited assistance to Wakanda.
This would lead my favorite 'ship into contact with each other, you see ;)

I was also disapointed by the lack of Night Hawk. But I was browsing on a slow wenesday and came across the the strory. The fact that they were in Africa was enough for me to buy the book, and the unknown team was a HUGE bonus. It's actually what got me to thinking Why we hadn't seen this team or dynamic in the 616?

I think the answer has to do with repression and the desire to produce a state of superhero "assimilation" through the process of segregation of black characters and characters of color from each other. Who was the first superhero Monica Rambeau encountered shortly after her transformation to "Captain Marvel" (now Photon)? It was Spiderman. He just happened to see Monica walking down the street and his "spidey sense" went off. Saying that his spider sense had never been set off by physical beauty before (Monica being as FINE as she is and all...), Spiderman follows Monica. Of course, three thugs attempt to hassle Monica and one is stupid enough to snatch her purse. Monica pursues the miscreants and dispatches them all in short order. Well naturally, an impressed Spiderman just has to introduce himself and a startled Monica blasts him. See how easily characters like Spiderman can encounter and establish relationships with characters he'd never seen or met before? Why some believe the same thing isn't capable between superhero characters of the same race is a mystery to me. What did I read in another thread? ...."maybe they won't like each other"...oh, come on now. :)

You must have read my mind! I had considered Man-Ape before Nezhno. Man-Ape is a heavy-hitter in the strength level category.
I also considered his potential for humor. I remember the Panther issue featuring the story of T'Challa leading the armies of the combined Wakandan Clans against the Jabari Clan. He wanted the Jabari to hand Man-Ape over for justice...and Queen Divine Justice as well. She had broken the Man-Ape out of jail and Man-Ape had taken that opportunity to slay T'Challa's already-dying future self. This battle leads to the events which lead to the estrangement between King T'Challa and Vibraxis.
Anyway, the Man-Ape was going on and on and on, spewing boisterous challenges and loud insults at the Panther. There's the sweet, but fiesty little Queen Divine Justice standing next to him, her head seeming not to even be level with Man-Ape's kneecap. Man-Ape is prattling on in typical super-villain fashion when suddenly, a snowball slams into the side of his face. He looks down at the little Queen with a shocked and comical expression. Defiantly, she looks up at him and tells him to can it, or something to that effect.
Man-Ape could be very funny, but his hatred for T'Challa runs so deep - because his Clan is banned - that he is capable of turning on the Panther in the blink of an eye. Besides, I believe that a cured Nezhno could easily exceed the Man-Ape's capabilities for pure physical power.
What would you think of a Maxam vs Nezhno matchup? That would be something.

It appears that some writer/creator finally decided to do justice to African/black American characters with respect to depicting them as wielding true offensive powers and the attitude to back it up. It appears that the way things are going for the black characters in Marvel's 616, Alternative, HoM and Ultimate U - Multiple Man's duplicate impregnating M; Beast impregnating Cecilia Reyes; "Race, nationality and geographical differences" no longer mattering as Luke Cage leads "sapiens" against a common enemy, and Ultimate Ororo going from ugly x-man to ugly x-man - a fan hoping to see greater interaction between black characters might as well forget about it.
But the Supreme Power publications seem to be a more than adequate source of consolation. T'Challa would never defeat Thor in the 616 or the Ultimate U, but we've got Supreme Nighthawk putting the beat down on Hyperion. It doesn't totally erase the magnitude of disgust I have for how the black male mutant has been depowered and decimated or how the black female mutant has been persistently sexed by the wierdest mutant males those writers could put them with, but knowing the character of Nighthawk and knowing that he - a character with no super-powers of his own - bested one of the most powerful heroes in his reality makes "Darwin", "Slick", "justin keller", "madrox/M" and the beastly alternate reality relationship between Cecilia Reyes and a blue bigfoot somewhat easier to ignore.

The more I think of the Monica Rambeau/Bishop 'ship (set sail, y'all! set sail! :D ), the more the coupling appeals to me. T'Challa and Ororo make a very elegant and dazzling pair. Monica and Bishop sizzles with passionate energy. A romance story taking them from where they are now, which is not especially fond of each other, to becoming civil, to cautiously friendly, to genuinely friendly...but still wary...to becoming crazy about one another but not willing to let the other one know how vulnerable they've become to the climax of an intimate experience that would be the equal of one of T'Challa's and Ororo's intimate "thunderboom-boom sessions.
I could see Genis-Vell making another call on Monica to steal another of her names and being confronted by Bishop who tells him that he'd be better served to just be content with the name he has now or learn to accept the new name people will calling him, "Stumpy", so named because Bishop would tell Genis that if he didn't leave Monica alone, he'd cut him off at the knees. Of course Monica would get wind of this and she and Bishop would have a little "tiff", but they'd get over it. The course of true love was never smooth. Isn't that what they say? :)

Even my brother Mastrmynd couldn't have done better. :)

I was honestly thinking more along the lines of his old costume than hairstyle, anything to distance him from the boring District X look he had. If need be, give him his AoA costume; it worked for Sunfire. I mean when he first showed up, he looked more like a Western badass with guns than Cable ever did, imo, and he pulled it off better to boot.

Dang its hard to say Marvel has practically all its heroes tied up in teams, and doesn't really seem to be trying to make any of them individually stand on their own two legs, except those they know are cash cows.
Arana: Anya should get her series back, its hard odd to think that its cool that shes running around the world working for SHIELD when she should be in school with kids her own age, not to mention what Did her dad say? I mean she registered im assuming so they had to inform her father right? I mean I can't believe this guy would allow his daughter join SHIELD.
Gambit: If the right writing went into it, a totally change about for this character is definitely needed. There is no reason why Remy should be everyones favorite lovable thief. I totally see him as being a potential Robin Hood/Zorro type of character because of his Charisma and it wouldn't be to out of the question to place his skills at or above those levels. If it doesn't work for the X-Books then screw the X-Books and make it just his own little thing.
Bishop & Shard: Yeah, I know "No F'in way in Hell to make this happen in any universe." but, Bishop needs a side-kick who is both someone the fans can quickly latch on to and favor, as well as be the comic relief. Bishop is a straight shooter, and putting him in any team where he isn't focused on a lot makes him forgettable. Shard shouldn't have ever been off anyway and could easily be made into type of opposing force to Bishop the book needs.
I can't think of anyone else I'd like to see. Maybe Sunfire should have a slight alternation in his story, push him into his own little world within marvel Earth that has him engrossed in something interesting. Something personal and that can build on his own dealings in Japan, like whatever.. japanese supervillains, quest for items of particular note in Japanese culture/folk lore, maybe I don't know something.

Cool.
I wish I could remember the name of the lovely Rwandan mutant I'd like to add to the team. She's a mutant, likely depowered, but hey - that could always be reversed for the sake of making a good team a better team.
I thought I was the only one who loved Vibraxis and QDJ! QDJ should have totally showed up in WWH. Hulk loved her!
I've been on Priest. I just could not countenance some of the things he did with T'Challa and to T'Challa, although I still think his physical appearance during that run was awesome. I liked the bald head, the facial hair and the cool shades. As was observed by my dear brother supreme, T'Challa resembled a very cool character by the name of "Hawk", who appeared on an old action television series called "Spencer" and then later in his own series called "A Man Called Hawk". What I hated most about Priest's Panther run was how the whole thing was told through the perceptions of that buffoon E.K. Ross. The character survives in Hudlin's run. I hope Hudlin kills him off. It would be an act of liberating T'Challa from the expectations and other uneccessary devices employed to make the mighty Black Panther somehow more appealing to the larger comicbook-reading demographic.
What I didn't know is that Queen Divine Justice had even met the Hulk. I too liked the character Vibraxis. Priest, an excellent writer in spite of some of his story choices with which I've vehemently disagreed, wrote the character well. I enjoyed the relationship he established between Vibraxis and the little Queen.
There is another character I think deserves her own series. The thing is, she isn't a Marvel character, but a DC character. Her name is Nubia and she is the black twin sister of Wonder Woman. She was molded in the same form, in the same way and animated the same way as was Wonder Woman. Ares abducted Nubia and raised her as his own, teaching her to hate the Amazons. I don't know whatever became of Nubia. If she yet survives, DC Comics would have a character whose popularity could possibly rival that of Storm. Of course I'd steer her toward a hook up with Black Lightning or the Green Lantern John Stewart when the time came for her to have some sort of comicbook flirtations.

Another great idea. I remember a book in which the Watcher told the story of the death of Jean Grey - the first of her now what....3 deaths?....in his own words.
As you say, seeing events unfold from the Watcher's perspective was interesting. Since I now know that the so-called "messiah baby" in the latest x-mess called Messiah Complex is definitely not the offspring of T'Challa and Ororo - I've seen the baby. Naturally, it's of the caucasian persuasion. How original. How novel. How so status quo - I'd like to know why the Watcher attended the WEDDING OF THE CENTURY and why he smiled when the ceremony was over and T'Challa and Ororo were man and wife, King and Queen of Almighty Wakanda.

I was honestly thinking more along the lines of his old costume than hairstyle, anything to distance him from the boring District X look he had. If need be, give him his AoA costume; it worked for Sunfire. I mean when he first showed up, he looked more like a Western badass with guns than Cable ever did, imo, and he pulled it off better to boot.
aha ;)

Bishop & Shard: Yeah, I know "No F'in way in Hell to make this happen in any universe." but, Bishop needs a side-kick who is both someone the fans can quickly latch on to and favor, as well as be the comic relief. Bishop is a straight shooter, and putting him in any team where he isn't focused on a lot makes him forgettable. Shard shouldn't have ever been off anyway and could easily be made into type of opposing force to Bishop the book needs.
I'm not adverse to seeing the return of Shard. I'd also be interested in seeing Bishop's daughter Aliyah introduced into the 616 U. She is basically Shi' ar Royalty. She is hot. She would look good with Nezhno at some point in the common future destinies of both characters.
But the perfect female partner for Bishop has got to be Monica Rambeau. The pairing is a natural.

BishopHe is getting a raw deal with the mutants because he sided with the ONE but I would like him leading a group or team going after renegade mutants doing what needs to be done. I just re-read his first appearance and once the situation went south. He ordered the termination sweep without hesitation. I also agree he needs someone to lighten the mood sometimes. I think he worked well with Sage in X-Treme X-Men. Might have to go back and read those again as well.
Young Avengers What the hell was Marvel thinking letting this title slip into oblivion. Not a bad character in the bunch and great stories to boot!!! Un@$$ some money for an artist and writer and get this book back on the shelf!!
Midnight Sons Blade, Ghost Rider Morbius(sp). They might not be able to support a series by themselves but there in enough occult to bring them back.

@PaxHouse:
Yea, one of the big things I noticed is the lack of Old Lace, and the two Captain Americas. A lot of "LOL wut?" moments that would look beautiful with Kolin's art. The man's work on Omega Flight was just gorgeous.
I actually miss Bishop with longer hair, although I will admit that it was shown as being too stylized and well kept on most occassions.
Did anybody here every watch the Adventures of Brisco Country jr? Julius Carry played a character called Bowler on that show and I always thought he had a very good Bishop look to him, minus the hat of course.

Blade
Terror Inc.
Werewolf by Night
The Shivers Man
Dr. Strange
Hannibal King

I think Doctor Doom deserves his own monthly book.
I also think Galactus, Asgardians apart from Thor and Eternals each also ought to have their own ongoing monthly series.
After all Inhumans had their own limited series a long while ago. Why not give them a monthly book as well?

1) Hawkeye (because he is cooler than Green Arrow)
2) Black Knight ( because Dane Whitman kicks asss)
3) Silver Surfer (Nuff said)
4) Cosmic Powers ( rotating cast of cosmic characters because naming them cosmic avengers is a really bad idea because the Avengers brand has been watered down enough lately )
5)Namor (because he is Marvel's 1st born)

The problem with Midnight sons is that the book doesn't really have a perspective character. it's hard to relate to any of the people in it. Now if you had one person that's almost normal, that would add a way to see the horrific elements as horrific, rather than just status quo for these people.
The trick is finding a relatleivly normal person that still fits in with these weirdos.

Night Nurse? or maybe the story arcs would always be in the perspective of a normal human who encounters one (or all) of the Midnight Sons.

Is Dan Ketch still alive? Maybe he could be that perspective character. Give him Blaze's old Hellfire gun and we're good to go! Or maybe they could maybe make up a new character...maybe a sorcerer-in-training or something...someone with a ton of power and potential, that is pulled into this world, and all he really wants is to have a normal life. That might add a comic element to the book as well, because he would no doubt be weirded out by all of them lol.

Beta Ray Bill: I loved Stormbreaker and I want more from this character.
Ares: I loved Oeming's series and I want more of him than the little bits you see in Mighty Avengers.
Star-Lord: But not just Star-Lord, I'd love an ongoing or at least another series of stories about Peter Quill and Friends.
Silver Surfer: I love the mini-series, but I would really like an ongoing series.
And last but not least.
Omega Flight, or Alpha Flight, or some other Canadian superhero team.
Oh...and even though it's more than 5, I'd love a Dr. Strange series.

Cool thread. Mind if I play?
1. Tomb of Dracula- With all the zombies around, why not bring back Marvel's best horror comic for another run? Writer Marv Wolfman teams with Tom Mandrake for an updated take on Helsing and crew against the ultimate terror. Gene Colan provides covers and occassional interiors.
2. Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu- Ok, we can get around the whole Fu Manchi/Sack Rohmer deal and use the Hudlin angle of Mr Han. But Shang Chi gets his monthly here with action written by Christos Gage and artwork by the man himself...Paul Gulacy. Appearances in the book by Sons of the Tiger, Daughter of the Dragons, Midnight, Jack Tarr and more.
3. Avengers International- They might be the World's Mightiest Heroes, but why are about 90% of them located in the US. I'm sure there is trouble in other parts of the world that need help. Writer Keith Giffen and artist Andrea DiVito re-team for a serious action packed, with humor thrown in for good measure, of an Avengers team that helps the rest of the world from their troubles. (I'll come up with a team later on down the line)
4. Dakota North- Andy Diggle and Jock take on Dakota as she takes on espionage, subterfuge, and any case in this noir monthly. Create a new supporting cast for her, throwing occassionally an appearance by Daredevil and turn it into a Tom Clancy/Magnum PI type of detective comic.
5. Damion Hellstorm: Son of Satan- Mike Carey can write the supernatural. See is Hellblazer run and as well as his brilliant Werewolf by Night mini and put Son of Satan in his hands. Artist Patrick Zircher providing the chores...see his Terror Inc and be amazed at spooky and freaky he can be.
I'm sure I can do another 5 but I'd like to see these mainly

Brother Voodoo should have a shot at his own book. I wouldn't mind a series delving into the aspects of Vodun, the Loa and debunking the fallacies associated with it. In the right hands, Brother Voodoo would be a kick ass character. I would change his costume up, though.

1. Howard the Duck
The current mini-series is outstanding. A monthly fix of this genius would make my decade.
2. The Rangers
I love the characters in this oddball team. I have no idea what angle might make it worthwhile, but I'd support the experiment.
3. The Thing
By Dan Slott, of course. Now that people are starting to realize what a superstar Slott is, lets give his tribute to the old Marvel Two-in-One series another shot. I loved all 8 issues. I want more!!
4. N'kantu, The Living Mummy
His back-up feature in the Legion of Monsters: Satanna special seemed like a brilliant premise for an ongoing. And please, please bring back the artist who did that backup. I think his name was Kalman Andrasofszky. The graphics were a revelation. Seriously, if you didn't pick this comic up, run to the back issue bins and get it. The backup is worth the cover price, easily.
5. Adam Warlock
Are there writers out there who are bold enough to experiment but traditional enough to remember why the characters they write are so beloved? If so, apply at Marvel and write me an Adam Warlock comic!!

____sinjection, a.k.a. Synch X
Actually, Nubia IS still around. The origin you remember, though, is no longer valid. Nubia was a Wonder Woman foe before the Crisis on Infinite Earths (I was not lucky enough to have any of her comic appearances, but I have read about them on the internet).
Following Wonder Woman's relaunch, she is no longer Wonder Woman's sister, but a fellow Themyscirian Amazon. Nu'bia, as she is more recently called, hasn't been an enemy, but a powerful ally of Wonder Woman's with a very unique history of her own, separating her from the generic Amazons we usually run into. Since this is a bit of a divergance from the point of this thread, I'll let you find the rest of the details on your own.
