View Full Version : SuperPowers & The End League
December sees the debut of two books I am very excited about:
Superpowers (Dynamite) by Ross & Krueger
The End League (Dark Horse) by Remender & Broome
I assume most readers can't wait for SuperPowers but End League looks great too. Anyone else excited for both books?

I am excited about End League, Superpowers I dont know enough about. I dont even know if its a mini, maxi, or ongoing, monthly or what. All I know is, Ross draws some dude that's half blue, half red.

Superpowers was solicited as a six issue mini series but has been "upgraded" to an ongoing. And the half blue/half red dude is the Golden Age Daredevil now called the Death Defying Devil because Marvel owns the rights to the name Daredevil.
Superpowers takes public domain characters that were popular in the 40's & puts them together in one book. Most of them come from the Nedor Comics & Lev Gleason Publications. The GA DD was very popular in the 40's.

I looked at Superpowers, Erik Larsens' project and Marvel's The Twelve as all being variations on the same idea and opted out of all them. Superpowers is obviously banking on Alex Ross's association to set it apart but since he's not doing interior art I'm not sure it will.
I did decide to roll the dice on End League. The second issue solicit wasn't all that inspiring but in for a penny, in for a pound as the saying goes.
The End League (Dark Horse) by Remender & Broome
Great issue. 28 pages of story!! Remender sets up the story while providing plenty of action. Broome's art is fantastic. This is the way a first issue should be written. You don't have to make excuses that nothing happened because this is only part one of a six issue arc, blah, blah, blah.

I picked up the End League and it was pretty good, it didn't blow me away but it was interesting enough to keep up, looking forward to seeing where it goes.

I have End League on order, but haven't recieved it yet. Very stoked to read it.
I listened to a podcast with Remender and he completely sold me on the series.

i actually agree with this review about the End League a lot (http://independentcomicssite.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=318&Itemid=1) i liked the setup and the artwork but not the characters. with more originals characters it woulda been a blast!
