Can a Inhumans movie be sold to today's movie goer?
I think at first glance they look cool on page but I'm not sure how well they can translate to film. I'm not sure if movie effects have totally caught up with Kirby's ideas yet. Blackbolt would be awesome to see on the big screen, that's for sure.

Would a CGI movie be better in this case?

I think the Paul Jenkins Marvel Knights maxi-series would make a good movie

It was a great mini. I don't know how good it would be though on screen.

They'd first have to decide if the Inhumans wear masks or not, and if they have code names or not. Black Bolt turning into Blackagar Boltagon, and being a public king still wearing a mask is still rather inexplicable to me.

Masks and codenames are for people who need to hide. If you completely seperate into a new community of like superpeople, it makes no sense.

Really? I figure they could open it up with the discovery of a hidden city filled with superhumans (ie. Attilan), the world's militaries get nervous, a big build up and then one giant battle with all kinds of explosions and action. I think it'd rule.

In the Inhumans' case, the masks and costumes are tribal. Just a more comic booky version of face painting and bone-piercings, really.

Indeed. That mini is simply great storytelling. To the purist, it would undoubtedly be a disappointment on some level, whether it be costumes or whatever. Still, if the story is strong and the characters are rich like these are, it is a great choice for a movie. I'd go in a hot minute. Just don't let Schumacher do it.

It could work but it'll more likely be called Fantastic 4 3: The Inhuman Invasion or something like that. I'd like to see Namor turn up before the Inhumans personally.

It would be better suited as big budget mini-series. 2 hours just isn't enough for non-comic readers to understand what's going on.

Del Toro would be perfect for it as a showrunner, IMO.

Are people willing to accept comic books as a dark sci fi family drama? I need to reread the Jenkins mini, but I remember it being really good. Plus you king and a main character doesn't talk. It would be an amazing film, if only Hollywood is smart enough to make it right. Then again, isn't Marvel doing production in house now?

Depends on how good your Hollywood pitch skills are.

Picture this: X-Men meets Elizabeth: The Golden Age!

Aw, yeah. Still got it.

I can see it as an animated direct to DVD movie. But live action: not a chance unless its as someone else mentioned part of Fantastic Four III.

I would cast Jason Issacs, Cate Blanchett, Keri Russel, and Ray park in lead roles,

as Blackbolt, Medusa, Crystal, and Karnak

Okay, so a team of people live in the Himalayas/On the Moon.
They wear spandex and superhero costumes and all have superpowers.
They have funky names like Black Bolt, Medusa and Maximus.

Oh, and no name recognition.

They haven't ever really been able to sustain a series of their own.
And making a movie about them would cost a million zillion jillion willion dollars.

And that's not the BIG problem.

Here's a big problem.
The Inhumans is about a society where a superhuman aristocracy (that's the Good Guys, by the way) rules over a races of apelike slaves.

Let's just repeat that bit.
APE. LIKE. SLAVES.

Oh yeah, this has summer blockbuster written all over it.

If you were going to do something like this, about a Kirby-created hidden race of superhumans, I'd go with The Eternals.
The only way the Inhumans would work is with MAJOR, MAJOR Changes.

Cue Fanboy Purist whining.

The only way this works is as a kind of cross between 'Nightbreed' and 'The Time Machine' (The George Pal one, not the godawful recent remake, and yes, I know both were based on books, but we're talking movies).
Hell, even Nightbreed had the extra-monstery monsters. Can't remember what they were called in place of the Morlocks/Alpha Primitives.

And seriously, if you're going to change it THAT much, why bother calling it 'Inhumans'.

Seriously, not EVERY comic would make an awesome movie.

You almost make it sound like you believe there's any conceivable scenario where there wouldn't be fanboy purist whining.

They could do a 6-hour movie that recreates the Paul Jenkins series panel by panel, and some people will still complain about Black Bolt's organic tuning fork.

Heh. Organic tuning fork.
Yeah. I know. I'm a masochist for stuff like that.

I don't know, leave out the costumes and you have the makings for a really good sci-fi movie with moral ambiguity as you want the heroes to win but also hate them for keeping slaves. If they approached it as a more serious sci-fi movie (and not hollywood blockbuster sci-fi) it could be awesome.

The human looking inhumans wear masks as an equalizer. I think the movie would be great. I personally would love to see a Inhumans movie based on the main cast (Black Bolts family) then a offshoot if it is successful of the Inhuman teenagers who went to school to learn from the 12 issues series.

I love the Marvel Knights miniseries byJenkins and Lee. I would also love to see an Inhumans movie. I don't see it as a 2 hour movie, because I see it as an epic movie if they were to adapt the miniseries.

A movie adapted from the miniseries really has the making of a great film. Fear and hostility against the unknown, sibling rivalries, class systems, philosophical musings, and let's not forget Black Bolt stopping a cannon slug with his bare hand. That alone would sell some tickets.

True. Most of them would make amazing yet impossible to budget and film TV series. TV shows are a medium better suited to comics, yet movies have more of the budget for the fantastic stories that many (yet not all) comics have.
