No, no. This isn't a Lord of the Rings thread, thank the sweet lord.

I just want to know what everyone's prized possession is.

It can be a sentimental long-term heirloom or just your favorite item of the moment.

Mine is the hat my late grandpa used to wear all the time that *I* now where all the time. It's one of those old man type hats I don't know the name for but have suddenly become popular again amongst the young-uns.
My grandma gave it to me back in august despite some of my crazy relatives being pissed about it.
I love it because it makes me feel like my grandpa is hanging around.
You can see it on my myspace pictures in New York.

I ALSO love my complete collection of every comic book Dazzler has ever appeared in. I've been re-reading them (again!) for days now.

Now, your turn.

You have one of 'em in your apartment, Dazz.

My autographed Leslie Feinberg books are some of my most cherished items.

Oh, shit.....
Uhm, remember when I ran out of toilet paper and coffee filters in the same day?

I don't know how to tell you this...but....
I went out and bought more toilet paper and coffee filters.

I haven't started Stone Butch Blues yet, but the holiday may be the perfect time to start.

I probably shouldn't say this but.... my most cherished posession is a stuffed animal.

Not too well known is the fact that Peanuts character Snoopy had both a brother named Spike and a sister named Belle. When I was about 7 some good friends of my family gave me a stuffed Belle for Christmas. I slept with that stuffed animal for years and, even when I stopped sleeping with it I took it with me to both college and graduate school.

When I was still little I even took her on vacations with me and, one year, staying overnight in a motel in Oklahoma, there was a tornado spotted a couple miles away and everyone above the second floor was evacuated to a tornado shelter off of the motel lobby. When we were ordered out of our room the only thing I grabbed was Belle.

Belle's been in storage now for about two years -- ever since the last time I moved. I really need to get her back but I don't have the room for the tupperware bin she's in along with some other stuffed animal friends that I don't have room for on my bed.

Actually, mine is a stuffed doll too. Kinda.

See, when I was a baby, I had a bunny doll ... and I ripped the arm off of it one day. Daddy sews it back on ... except he can't, because the arm is lost. So he sews up one himself. Then I rip off the other arm. He has to make a new one and sew that back on. Then I did it to the legs. The body. The head. Eventually, there's nothing left of the original doll, and Mr. Bunny is more of a FrankenBunny. But I still love my Mr. Bunny doll. Still have it too.

Waited outside the artist's entrance of the Hammersmith Odeon in London after her concert. In the rain. For an hour.

My old drawing board that is all wood and cast iron. It's positively ancient and full of character, and doesn't have any of these new-fangled gadgets you see on modern drawing boards, and I've been sweating blood on it since I was 15.

One time when it was disassembled, one of the cast iron feet fell over and broke my sister's toe.

Mine's a jewellery set that I've sort of acquired of the years, that I wear all the time.

A silver necklace I recieved from my uncle and aunt for my 16th birthday, and a cross I got from my friends that same year.
Two silver rings - one I found in the gutter on the way home from school one day, ridiculously beaten up and more than likely some silver-smith apprentice's rejected work because hey, it ain't pretty or perfect like store-bought rings. The other is an engraved ring from my ex last year that I won't take off.

I wouldn't feel like me if I didn't have them with me.

Is it sad that I can't think of one? Or does my apparent disregard for material posessions make me all deep and stuff?

If pushed though, I might say my old US military coat. Warm and stylish.

Your friends are possessions? Or are you saying that possessing (in the manner of ghosts and such) friends is the type of possession you prize the most?

It was Colonel mustard with the candlestick in the closet!

Ahem.

My most prized possessions (as in things) are: A silver ring, and my teddybear my mom got for me my first christmas. It's as old as I am and decidedly unfluffy with a missing nose, but I still love it.

You know, this is really hard to answer, because the most precious things in my life are my family and friends. I have many material objects that I enjoy, that have a special meaning for me, etc... but the people always take priority, because they are irreplaceable.

If I had to pick one material item, it'd probably be our house and living where we do. I love our neighborhood and our neighbors, the land has a good vibe, it's mostly quiet and peaceful, and it restores me as much as any "thing" can.
