View Full Version : Question about ripping CD tracks to PC via Windows Media Player

I'm currently ripping my favorite Beatles songs off their CDs onto my PC using Windows Media Player, and I'm having an annoying problem.
In every track, there are momentary skips and dropouts during the last 10 seconds or so of the song. Why is this happening? How can I stop it?
Any help will be appreciated.

The first problem is using Windows Media Player at all. WMAs are even worse than mp3s for quality of sound, and since they're proprietary files, you can do much less with them than you can with mp3s.
The specific problem you have sounds like your CD reader may be old and in need of replacing.

I'll make a note of that. Someone recommended a software called Freerip to me and I'm going to try it.

It's a brand new PC, purchased in September of this year.
Thanks for the info, Jon.

Windows Media Player can rip into MP3 format though. I'm not sure I've ever encountered this particular problem. Although now that I think of it, a few seconds are missing from the end of my rip of Fear of a Black Planet. Hmm.
