That metal sound effect

You know, when something chilling happens in the show and there's that metallic "weeeeooom" sound, like someone's playing a chainsaw. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I'm sick of it. Sound effects in general are overdone a lot these days, but that one's just an auditory cliche at this point.

From the thread title I assumed you meant that weird almost wind-chimish-but-not-really water sound that's sometimes used to establish an ominous mood. I can't even think of how to represent it with words. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Can either of you give a specific exmaple where its used. I think I know what you're talking about but I can't be sure unless you give me an example.

I'm thinking about something you can hear during Matrix but yeah, more specific examples would be appreciated

Offhand, I think the sound I'm thinking off is used Event Horizon, probably during some external shots of the ship.
