Who would you like to see have the Soul Sword?

All the above characters have a connection to the Soul Sword and some have even wielded it. Who do you think deserves to possess the sword and why?

I just read an arc in the Night Crawler series and I think due to Kurt's demon origins and his love of sword fighting that I would like him to handle the blade for awhile.

I voed nightcrawler, as he has it now, and alwas seems to run in someone who want it either form his family or him, and then there belasco... I hope that the mystical war, so we can see him use it more

Argh! No offense to the mods, but "Soul Sword" should be one one word - Soulsword

I know it sounds a bit anal but the spelling of the blade has always been one word; subsequent writers (Ellis, Lobdell, etc.) have taken it and broken it up into two words, but it has always been just one!

Havin said that, I think the Soulsword should belong to its creator, Illyana Rasputin. heck, the blade was fashioned from a piece of her own soul, and technically, only she could ever tap into the sword's full potential. Later stories stated that other sorcerers could wield it, but with the exception of Kity Pryde, Illyana's best friend, no one but 'Yana should have held it.

Kurt doesn't have demonic origins. Doctor Strange used the Eye of Agamotto to confirm in UXM annual #3 (or was it 4?) that he's entirely human(/mutant) by birth.

I'd like to see Illyana have it, if it's the classic Illyana. Otherwise I'd prefer it stay in the background the way it usually does: technically belonging to Kitty, but not actually used by her except in dire magical emergencies.

I guess I just don't know how much use Kurt would really get out of it. It only affects magical creatures, which account for, what- 5% of the enemies the X-Men fight? 10, maybe? Not all that useful. The challenge with the Soulsword is, it really has to be used by someone intricately tied to magic, not just someone who very occasionally encounters it.

Illyana all they way. It's part of her missing soul that she will go in search of next year. The only other would be Kitty, as Illyana's best friends. I like Pixie, but she couldn't hold that thing up if her life depended on it. That and she has her little "dagger".

The sword can only defeat magic and magical beings, correct? And sometimes cut Kitty even when she's phasing for an unknown reason and sometimes summon mystical armor.

If Kitty has it it should be a very secret weapon. She should almost never use it. Just if she's in a mystical situation that her phasing can't solve, she can remind people that she can summon an anti-magic sword.

Otherwise maybe Nightcrawler if he get's back with Sefton and they fight mystical threats.

I don't know if I want Magik back. Her mystic powers are hard to work with. She's usually been mostly useless on Earth and almost omnipotent in limbo. But since she can teleport herself and her enemies to Limbo easily, she's basically a plot device. They'd let her teleport whenever it was convenient and then when it wasn't she'd say, "No, I'm scared we'll go to another time."

Pixie seems like her replacement and she's got a decent power set.

2) hallucinagens
3) anti-magic soul dagger
4) teleportation
5) minor potential to learn other spells

Magic doesn't usually fit in well, especially the broader kinds. X folks have almost a patent on telepathy. And, um, claws. But magic can go to other books. Who needs a boost in another book?

Magik (Illyana Rasputin) &/or Shadowcat should have the Soulsword. All of the passing the thing around like its some kind of collectable is ridiculous. Magik wields the Soulsword because she made it from a piece of her soul; as a result, she is exclusive to the Soulsword's power. Likewise, Shadowcat could be injured by the Soulsword even when phasing & could wield when Magik ceased to exist or ceased being Magik. Therefore, all of Magik's sorceress powers shifted to Kitty Pryde because karmically they are sisters.

Even powerful magicians such as Doctor Strange, Margali Szardos, Amanda Sefton & even Belasco should not be able to wield the Soulsword at all. The mystical blade should be ephemeral or vanish when not used by Magik or Shadowcat.

Kitty can wield Illyana's Soulsword because Magik & Kitty are linked by karma as sisters. Kitty has access to all of Magik's sorceress powers. When the blade cut Kitty in Uncanny X-Men #171, this is a hint of Shadowcat's link to Magik. The idea came into fruition in The New Mutants #36-37 & Uncanny X-Men #203 when Beyonder first exorcised Illyana's darksoul & then literally erased most of the New Mutants. As a result, the Soulsword's power went to Kitty. Kitty also gained Magik's armor in Excalibur #7 when Illyana ceased by Magik at the height of Inferno.
