Nothing says fun and scary like the ol' TALES FROM THE CRYPT series.
they were genius and so well made, and rightly so with the wealth of talent surrounding the series.A single episode that comes to mind always brings a smile to my face "KORMAN'S KOLAMITY"..about a struggling TFTC artist who's mind is so fertile that his ideas jump off the page, literally!.Harry Anderson stars in this episode and it is simply outrageous.:)

that was definately one of the campier ones. one of my faves is Dead Right with Demi Moore in it. and (i'll probably butcher this one) 'Oil's Well that End's Well) with Lou Diamond Phillips and the guy who voices the Cryptkeeper. and who can forget Christopher Reeves as a cannibalistic restaraunt owner? it's just my preference but i didn't enjoy much of the last season. i don't know if it's just that they had a smaller budget or the switch to more UK based stories...but well...meh.

I really want to start getting this series on DVD. My best friend from way back in the day used to love watching that show. A funny thing is, most of the time, the intro scared me more than the episodes themselves. I honestly don't know if it was the music or the house or what, but it bothered me lol.

i think it's the anticipation that he's going to pop out of his box. the house was mostly CGI, i think. this series is really expensive if you buy it by seasons. mine's bootleg & i can't remember where i got it online. doh.

Oh, I'm right there with you! Danny Elfman did the theme, and yes, the whole build-up to the Cryptkeeper popping out of the coffin was definitely unsettling.

My favorite episodes are Split Second, the New Arrival, and
The Assassin. I would have loved to have seen the story Shoe Button Eyes
(Vault of Horror) on TFTC.

never heard of that last one. the Assassin had Corey Feldman in it right? i watched the New Arrival before coming into work. good ol' Zelda Rubinstein and her creepy #$$ voice. i'm glad that you mentioned Split Second because it's one of my favorites (if we're talking about the lumberjacks). it was one of the only times that i rooted for the killer(s).

The Assassin did indeed have Corey Feldman in it. :)
I love the music especially in Only Skin Deep ( I wish there was information about the opening song!) and Cutting Cards.
The little girl in The New Arrival was very creepy!
She almost gave me nightmares when I saw her face!
The comic version was very different.
Shoe Button Eyes was about a little blind boy who had a teddy bear and his mean stepfather tore out the bear's eyes.
The stepfather attacked the boy and accidentally killed him.
He is later found dead with the shoe button eyes in place of his eye sockets and there is a smile on the bear.
Spoiled and Dead Wait were good.

yeah, i'm not sure what instrument that was they were playing at the beginning of Cutting Cards but it gave vegas a weird feel; that "keyboard distortion" sound. i think there was an episode simply titled 'Skin Deep' that i liked, as well; had the serial killer who sawed guys faces off.
The little girl in The New Arrival was very creepy!
reminds me of the mentally handicapped ghost children that are set to appear in next years Trick r'Treat movie. i'm guessing Felicity was played by an actress/actor with dwarfism.

sounds cool. the only other killer teddy bear i can think of was from an episode of Tales from the Darkside titled 'Ursa Major.' well, i guess there was also the fake killer bear from the beginning of the movie 'Dolls,' as well.

The first 4 seasons are some of the most untouchable shows in the history of cable television. I'm not sure what the episode is called but it had Steve Buchesmi in it and it was about two soldiers who were friends. There was some kind of disease over there and the friend wanted Steve's beautiful wife back in the states so he arranged to give Steve the disease. Steve was thinking ahead and the wife knew of it and the friend ended up having the disease and his nose started falling off. The way he was screaming was probably some of the funniest comedy I've EVER seen. I had to rewind that about 6x.

I liked the Brad Pitt episode, the one when the vulture ate that guy's eye out in the desert at the end, the love potion episode when Hemmingway is given the potion and says "The more I do it..the more I WANT to do it" while the theme matches the whole situation perfectly, The Joe Pesci episode, the Teri Hatcher episode, etc. I can literally watch every single episode of the first 4 seasons without having any issues with any of them. Just perfectly done. I loved it..didn't pay attention to the writer but that stuff was done the right way. The Crypt Keeper's voice and the way he says things are classic too.

In the comic version of The New Arrival, Felicity was actually a 40 year old man who was being starved by his mother who literally treated him like a child.
Easel Kill Ya and Mournin' Mess were good.
I'm hoping that season 7 will be available on Netflix soon.
To my knowledge, there is still a very long wait.

Roger Daltery was in that one, wasn't he?

I liked the Brad Pitt episode,
i like how they did the close up of his mouth (w/ smoke pouring out) and worked in the engine sound. but what was w/ that song at the end? You gotta rolll with the punches...or something like that. ;)
Ithe one when the vulture ate that guy's eye out in the desert at the end,
that one was just completely over the top; like the shootout at the bank in the beginning. i was thinking to myself, "is this really the guy from Twin Peaks?"

fair enough. i'm pretty much the same way. i've been in the habit of throwing a disk in randomly an hour or so before i have to get ready for work. i haven't gotten tired of them, yet. the 5th season can kind of wear on a person, though. ooo, and i really like that one where Tim Roth paints his own murders and sells them to an eccentric billionaire type (the prick from Ghostbusters 1).

yessir. i had seen that episode 10 times before i ever knew who Roger Daltry was. but it was a great episode. and the 'creature' effects will forever be etched into my memory.

i loved Mournin' Mess because of Steve Weber's performance as an alcoholic deuchebag reporter. oh and the homeless people being picked off was done much better here than in C.H.U.D. i've never read the comic version of New Arrival but have a bunch of the other episodes in comic book form, coincidentally (ex.well-cooked hams).

Yeah..the fifth season wasn't back to back CLASSIC like the first 4 seasons but they had about 3-5 episodes that season that were on point.

oops. i've been talking badly about the wrong seasons. they started getting less than entertaining around season 6. and season 7 was when many of the stories took place in England for whatever reason. there were still some good ones in there though; the 3 Pigs cartoon, Confession (serial killer with the bowling ball), The Assassin, etc.
my favorite from season 5 was 'Death of Some Salesman.'
