You could make a pretty strong case to move this to another forum, but I'm posting this here to get some Classic folks reactions...

I watched an episode of Justice League Unlimited last night titled "Ties That Bind" (no, not the Springsteen song). It was written by Steranko (no first name listed) and J.M. DeMatteis (too early to start checking spellings, so forgive me).

The episode basically was a team-up between Mr. Miracle, Big Barda and The Flash. Of course, all of the Kirby characters (including Oberon, Kalibak, Granny Goodness and Vermin Vunderbar) were illustrated with extra Kirby-esque squiggles.

At first, I was a little iffy about the voice casting (usually a strong point for all the DC toons) but then two instances struck me as brilliant - Granny Goodness and Vermin Vunderbar.

Granny Goodness - Ed Asner
Vermin Vunderbar - Arte Johnson

All in all, an enjoyable half hour of programming. Has anyone else seen this particular episode?

I own the first season on DVD and must admit to having been thoroughly impressed.

That was a pretty solid episode all around. The wholes series is very ambitious - tons of characters, big storylines, but the creators seem to pull it off.

The Johnny DC comic series is awesome. I bought a stack for my nephew's birthday, and read through them first to vet them. I very reluctantly wrapped them up for him.

How old is your nephew? I was considering something similar.

He just turned 10 (I gave him some last Christmas when he was 9 as well). He's not really that into comics, but my sister says he plowed through them.

I bought a big stack of them from Lone Star (along with some of the Marvel Adventure line) for a buck or so each. It's great to see kid-friendly books out there.

I really, really enjoyed the JLU books.
