Hi,
I stopped buying new comics a few months ago in favor of trades. However, it wasn't until today that I realized I might have locked myself out of new Don Rosa stories, since Gemstone doesn't really do trades collecting their stories.
1) Have their been any NEW (not reprint) Rosa stories lately?
2) Are any planned, that you know of?
3) Is there a reliable blog or website I could occasionally check just to keep up to date, since I don't buy Previews?
Thanks,

I am a big fan of Don Rosa and have every one of his comics published thus far. I have also corresponded with him for many years, but he seems strangely evasive on the issue of new stories. The last Don Rosa story was The Prisoner of White Agony Creek from 2005; it has been published as part of the Companion edition of Life & Times of $crooge McDuck, but not yet in a mainstream Gemstone comic.
Opinions vary as to why there have been no new Rosa stories for almost 2 years. There was some sort of disagreement between Rosa and his publishers - the Scandinavian giant Egmont afew years ago, but whether this is the sole or even a significant reason is a moot point. Others argue that Rosa has the cartoonist's version of the writer's block - which is possible considering the sort of depth that he goes into for each of his stories. He is only 56 years old and at that age, Rosa's mentor Carl Barks had over 10 years of working life left in him.

This link is usually reliable for any information on Don Rosa, including new stories. Being a Danish site, the English is not upto scratch, but passable. It has been very quiet for well over a year and so we can only wait....and hope.

The rumor going around is that Rosa has taken an unofficial retirement from a regular schedule. He still makes appearance at conventions in Europe - where Disney comics have a stronger pull, especially Finland, they love Donald Duck there.

The rumor going around is that Rosa has taken an unofficial retirement from a regular schedule. If he has, it is a real shame because I know for sure that he still has several big story ideas up his sleeve. I was hoping to see one where Uncle $crooge crosses swords for the first time with Barks' most ambitious villains - Azure Blue & Sylvester Sharkey.
